Delighted we are safe!
Now I’m thinking of next season - it could be quite an exciting summer which we haven’t had of late, as there is a complete squad rebuild needed.
Take out loans and leavers - which existing senior pros do we expect to see back with us at the start of next season?

Take out loans and leavers - which existing senior pros do we expect to see back with us at the start of next season? Start with an old-head experienced keeper to keep the back four calm and organised. Lossl would be great but it’s a big stretch (and cost) for him to stay but he does need regular games to get in the Denmark Euros squad so who knows. If not, not a youngster learning his trade.

Now is the time when we will see the true worth of the Cowleys. They have a difficult job in moving on players who are on high salaries however do not want to play for us. Equally we have players still in contracts who will find it difficult to attract interest from other clubs. Then we have such as O’Brien who we want to keep however will be the target of bigger clubs. Whatever happens we need some leaders who will give 100% and help to engender a winning mentality. Let’s hope they have lined up potential players who can improve our squad and fill problem areas such as right back, goalkeeper etc. .

Our problem will be shifting the likes of Hamer, Kongolo, Hadj, Dihakaby, Mbenza and Sobhi before we can buy anyone, there are some big wages, not to mention transfer fees there, we will have to take a hit to shift them otherwise the managers hands will be tied!

I think we will retain a lot of the squad except players we had in on loan and players we have out on loan (the troublemakers). I think we will need to bring in a decent level keeper, a playmaker who had that extra quality and a goalscorer (Karlan Grant will go).
At this level I would love a player like Dwight Gayle or Lewis Grabban but I think the Cowley's will persevere with Frazier Campbell, I really fear about where our goals will come from next year.

Gayle will be on FAR too much money. Grabban won't join us, especially if Forest go up.

Rate that dickie from oxford (centre back) plus cowley said he is looking in Germany for some players but I reckon we end up getting someone like ched Evans from fleewtood he fits into cowleys system but I have faith with the cowley's getting their own players in just need the backing off Phil but I'm excited who we bring in and next season will be enjoyable not awful like the last 2 seasons

Time to compile a highly edited sales video and post it to: Mr M Bielsa Elland Rd Beeston Leeds LS11 0ES

Seen on Twitter and Sunderland’s forum that we are one of the clubs after Lyle Taylor, played for Cowley before I think but will be a lot of competition.

It’s hard to think which players likely still be here next season:
Schindler Toffolo Stearman? Elphick Hogg Schofield J Brown Edmonds-Green Duhaney O’Brien (hopefully) Bacuna Daly Pyke Campbell
I think the rest will either leave or we will try to make leave! With very little money, we will cash in on Grant to strengthen rest of squad.
Pritchard - 50/50 - stay or cash in?
Only 8 names in list above who will be established pros. I reckon we will see 10-12 guys come in (including 4/5 loans)
Anyone I missed? Thoughts?

Never heard of him, but my wider football knowledge is woeful, so looked him up on Wikipedia. Lyle James Alfred Taylor (born 29 March 1990) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for the Montserrat national team.Prior to joining Charlton Athletic where he became a traitor,... 😀

The way he refused to go back and play the last 9 games for Charlton, wanting to protect himself from an injury so not to scupper a ‘life changing move’, tells me he had a much bigger move in mind than us. I wouldn’t call HTFC a life changing move. Not where we are at at this time.

Lots of arrivals needed this summer

The starting point has to be how many of the unwanted high earners we can move on?
I just hope we're not hamstrung by a high wages cost with players who don't want to be here or we don't want.

Most obviously goalkeeper replacement to me seems like Marshall at Wigan. Only conceded once since the restart (I think) and sounds like they won’t be able to afford him.

If they won't go then utilise them cleaning the stadium bogs. They'll soon be on the blower to their agent.

Money talks and we won't be chucking it around. Hopefully out of contract players will be more sensible where their demands are concerned but I wouldn't hold my breath over that.
I'd have Chalobah signed permanently if he's cheap; he can play a couple of roles and I can't see him ever getting games at any Prem club. I'd have Willock on a permanent - yes he's raw and will need work, but he took a 60% pay cut to join us and so won't be expensive. Keep Toffolo - great little player! Keep O'Brien - ditto Probably keep Schindler, Stearman, that's about it from the main squad for me. I don't think that we'll get brass buttons for the other players, perhaps Grant aside. We'll need a keeper and strike force. Going to be a difficult summer transfer window for sure.

Huge summer
Issues 1. Chairman Phil 2. Time 3. Manager 4. Covid 5. Mr Hoyle 6. Challenge to chairman Phil
2. Time
May/ June / July is now a bit of July and August.
Half the time to do all this business.
Mark Devlin and Bromby need to deal with this a lot better than they did than with Simpson debacle (granted that shambles helped unearth a gem - Chalobah the right back)
3. Manager
Cowley has turned a club with 1 point in 6 and 1 win in 9 months to a side with a mid table record under him wit a lower half championship squad
He clearly wasn’t happy with the Stankovic position and was under pressure to reduce the budget in January - If Grabara hadn’t been injured my understanding is we’d have done that
Question isn’t whether we should sack him (goodness me) it’s whether he wants to stay
1. Chairman Phil
May 2019: “The reality is I wouldn’t be doing this if I couldn’t afford to do it....if I didn’t have the personal wealth to invest in the Football Club at this level.
“I know exactly how much money I’ll need to put in in the next 10 years; it doesn’t worry me, it’s not daunting or a concern”
July 2019: “We are comfortable, we will be profitable in the Championship”
July 2019: Re If Mooy, Kongolo etc went late in the window, what would you do? “There would have to be some very big bids. We don’t need to sell anyone and I don’t see anyone matching our valuations at the moment” ...And... “ But we don’t have to sell anyone.”
Since then we’ve sold Billing, Zanka and Mooy. We bought Toffolo and added likes of Campbell, Simpson to the wage bill
And the manager was under pressure to reduce the wage budget in January when a number of ins / outs on loan (& ESR loan fees etc)
4. Covid
Football finances are hit - loss of match day revenue.
But thankfully we sold £25m of players we didn’t need to sell per Chairman Phil. Worry not... oh we couldn’t afford to offer Stankovic a contract
5. Mr Hoyle
Phil agreed to repay dean £15m this year, £10m Aug-21 and £10m Aug-22. I understand from others on here we agree to repay some of the amount we owe Dean early this year - If correct how lovely of us!
Perhaps Mr Hoyle could agree to be repaid over a slightly longer period, think of it as a few more ‘moments in time’
5. Challenge to Chairman Phil
We sold £25m of players since after saying we didn’t have to sell anyone.
We have to give a proportion of that to Cowley to bring in 5/6 championship quality players and use the 5 loans available
I’m not asking chairman Phil to put any of the millions he has as he was keen to tell us he has ready to invest... and not all the funds from the players we didn’t need to sell some of which will need to help with Covid impact
Over to Chairman Phil* ...
(*or if what you said last season wasn’t entirely correct now is the time to set expectations not pretend we have a top 6 squad on paper)

Rangers are interested in him apparently Wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole. Refused to turn out for tyre club that made him. Tosser I doubt it was that straight forward. Looking at it from his point of view that he has a chance for a move that will set him up and maybe he asked Charlton if he got injured will you give me a year deal as protecting and they said no (reports are that Fraser at Bournemouth asked for this type of agreement), would you really play? Pedro and Willian at Chelsea have signed those type of deals.

As I've said above, I really do hope that players have far more realistic wage demands after next Wednesday, but I really doubt that they will want to take a massive hit. There wasn’t much point in Town paying Lincoln £1.5m for the Cowleys if they were going to balk at buying relatively low priced Championship players. Nobody is asking for millions to be chucked round, but they will need a budget to be successful even if it’s just what we have raised (or will raise) in players sales. We made £25m in our player sales last summer alone.
