A few cheap, low risk signings like grant seems like the way to go. Gives them time to bed in for next season.

I think it’s worth saying and just listened to a similar viewpoint on “ooh to be a” podcast that I don’t think January is the time to go mad in the transfer market.I take the point of some that we are 5 points off the playoffs and that we should show some ambition. However I think considering we look like we will be comfortable mid/low mid table at worst a couple more additions would do. Then with the amount of players out of contract in the summer, some younger players in Edmonds green,Schofield and possibly Daly and Phillips bedded in as well as the foundation laid in terms of style of play the club should look to show that ambition at that point(in the summer) Players like bacuna, diakhaby,Pritchard and possibly Schindler, stearman, elphick and maybe even Campbell I would suspect move on when contracts are up although potentially not all of those. It would be a big job to replace those but I’m sure the club have replacements in mind. Getting promoted(I know it’s extremely unlikely) just right now I think could do more harm that good as ridiculous as that sounds. We weren’t really ready when we went up last time and are only just now starting to level off after what happened. As boring as it sounds I think steady progression and building year on year is what is needed bringing players on whilst adding the odd “championship ready” or “experienced” player.Look to be challenging in and around the playoffs and automatics whilst playing good football and then with a view to when we can make that step to get promoted the squad is in a much better place were we to get there.Brighton were knocking on the door for 3/4 seasons before promotion and although they do struggle(most promoted teams do)they have managed to stay there. Hopefully it’s looking as though could have an enjoyable few years ahead and personally don’t feel like going wild in January is required. Not sure if my opinion will be shared but just feel that’s the way to go. The only justification for showing some ambition in Jan would be if we are in a considerably better financial position than most other clubs and we are able to take advantage. I dont think having a tilt at promotion this season is necessarily the reason for doing it but if we can get the players we want in place for next season to have a proper go then surely it would make sense to give them 6 months to bed in? Good point yeh.Although most of what has come out of the club would suggest that financially the club is trying to stabilise too.Plus I suppose you never know if you are in a better financial position than anyone else. You can make an educated guess but not be sure.If the club could however get all their future targets in and players they want to leave in January or even some of them should that opportunity arise it would definitely make sense to give them that time to bed in and know what to expect come pre season/next season so would totally agree with that.Would be nice if we could do that.

If the guy is as good as they reckon, a well structured deal worth up to £5m might be extremely savvy business. It's a calculated one, but one that might not be as outlandish as at first appears. Steven Chicken isn't prone to flights of fancy and hasn't dismissed it as nonsense, so let's see. Thread for discussing him here: downatthemac.proboards.com/thread/115025/lincoln-corr-dos-santos

Sam Field, central midfielder from West Brom, has been linked on loan. Wouldn’t be with an option to buy though, which could render it a pointless signing. WBA were hoping to loan Field out under Bilic, but they’re just allowing Big Sam to run the rule on him first before officially deciding his next step. Suspect that would mean CC has had enough of O’Brien underperforming. There’s not one part of your post that has any substance to it. Just made up nonsense. Is there ever any substance with Ricky's posts? I seemingly just skip past them now. Probably got a ratio of 1 in 20 for rumours

Best to just keep skipping past.

Good to see Maynardblue confirming there is at least some substance in the Lincoln rumours. Would like to see this one happen (and then pray he is more Mbenza than Diakhaby!!)

With the transfer window fast approaching I'd have thought he would have graced us all with his random claims that we are signing some German players. Still waiting for those. Then rambling on about some buses and traffic jams etc. Weird guy.

Two quotes from Carlos' press conference this afternoon. Not sure if there's anything to read into this but they seem to contradict each other
CC on Danny Grant "He’s a very young player with a lot of skills.
If I’m honest I didn’t participate in the signing of him. For the club he will need some time.
He will need some period of time to adapt to the league.
As soon as he is ready to help, he will be available."
CC on signings "I work every day with Leigh Bromby, analysing players and how we can get better.
Looking at players that can improve us. I enjoy this a lot.
If you start to recruit without the advice of a coach, it can create problems.
That is why I trust the work they (recruitment team) do."

It could be that he gives the recruitment team some criteria for scouting, they present a shortlist, he vetoes any that he thinks aren't suitable and then leaves it to Bromby & Devlin to sort the particulars.

I read the ceo and fans fell out with him as he missed a goal when playing in the game against Lpool in the club World Cup final that would of been the equaliser.

I would like too add that Carlos would have had meetings before hand and talked about the positions he would like too strengthen and also put in place future recruitments think we will be losing a few in the summer looking at the contracts of quite a few.
