I can name possibly half of the players on that York City team from 1971-72 without thinking. Show me a picture of any modern day PL team squad and I’d struggle to say the same.
Football has gone to the dogs since then in my view, along with everything else. God I’m so hacked off with everything right now.

Not West Yorkshire this time... Two Town connections here, both very easy. Interestingly the grandson of one of these played against us in the Cup for Plymouth in January and I flagged it in the match thread at the time, but nobody bit. Hey ho. Football League Review Volume 6 number 35, 8th & 24th April, 1972 Loads more HERE.Aimson and Topping? I would say Chris Topping. Top row far right Correct. Chris Topping.

Big jump in time now... I'm fed up with doing the early 1970s stuff so I've shot ahead to the Nationwide Review magazines of 1997/98/99.
Not a lot of Town stuff in these, but they are quite hard to find, especially a full set of both volumes (which I now have). First one coming up...

Nationwide Review Volume 1, issue 1, 8th March 1997. Quite a bit of Town content in this photograph - I'll let you sort out who's who. The actual players names listed are in the wrong order anyway! It's the Nationwide League's U21 side that drew 1-1 with Sampdoria in Genoa.
