I am just trying to establish the poster is being accurate and knows for a fact that the guy chose Luton over us even thiugh we offerred him more money. Because if he/she does not know this for a fact then the post is pointless. Who cares? They've got the striker we wanted, we've got nobody in.

We offered more but structured differently. We played it cool and they called our bluff.

Fuck Me R......actually that’s alright Call me a "woke snowflake", but I'm not sure we should be singing songs about hanging black men in this day & age. No but we can still hang statues of a white man nailed to cross on our walls!!

out of interest how much are Luton paying him, how much were we prepared to pay him so at least we can have some understanding of the finances involved - I was going off this that Maynard posted earlier 👇 We pulled out of adebayo deal this morning. Luton offered less than we did. Walsall dicked us about, rolled the dice and lost Plenty showing their true colours on here though. The bit that says we pulled out of the deal cos Walsall were dicking us about and ended up with less money is a reason to have a go at Town ? More like a reason to congratulate them.

Firstly we don't know how good this lad is but the fact is this....it comes down to perception.
Of course we have to drive for the best deal as we see it but on the face of it we can't compete with Luton. This is Luton who have not had the benefit of Premier League money and are also having to manage the impact of Covid on their revenue.
Perception is very important.

Walsall had to sell him and obvs try to get the highest price they could. After decent offers from us, they tried to call our bluff so we binned them off, accepting the next best but way lower offer from Luton.

Not denying you’ve been given this info, but the whole story is nonsense. So we walked away from a signing because they wanted too much, yes I can buy that... But do we really believe Walsall then went ‘oh no, that means we’ve now got to accept a much lower offer from Luton, there’s no way to can pick the phone back up again and tell town they can have him for the original offer’. Even if they did pick up and call us again, are we going to turn around and say ‘not for us, yes I know it’s for the original price we offered but we are not interested anymore’; if we did, absolute pig-headed stupidity, we’ve ended up with no one

Good, I don’t watch Town to see us score goals or win games. I watch them to enjoy a sense of moral superiority and smugness in the way we conduct our undisclosed business transactions.

Then we're scrambling around at the last minute trying to bring in alternatives. Congratulations town, you fucked it up yet again 👏

Both scenarios are depressing PH says we've got money stashed away for a rainy day, the problem is it's been raining most of the season & pissing it down since Christmas. 4 points from 21 since Xmas & dumped out of the cup by lower league opposition. Deadline day has closed & we still have the same toothless strikers for CC to play the exciting, attacking brand of football he was brought in to play. Apparently they should be congratulated though? 🤔

We are banking on scraping through to avoid relegation - if we do (IF!!), you might argue that the balance sheet will show it was the right decision, certainly we should only be signing players we really need at costs we can afford, rather than just signing someone for the sake of it.
This time next year it might look like a brilliant decision.
But, on the other hand....

If we wanted him, as we apparently did, yet walked away and allowed a relegation rival to buy him for much less cash than we were offering then that is monumental, clown shoes stupidity on our behalf, surely? There's nothing to congratulate Town about, other than saving a few quid that Hoyle can trouser at a faster rate.

This has to be disappointing if we wanted him. Particularly if he turns out to be a gem.
Guess we'll never be told the true story of how it was handled, but does seem odd (if true) that another Club can come in with a lower offer and steal him from under our nose.

The problem with so much ‘info’ being out there on social media there are so many opinions based on next to nothing we end up with all these disappointed posters when nobody really knows what the issue was. Pointless conjecture really.

Absolutely and in reverse the same rules don't apply to us. I mean 3 months ago when we were selling our star striker to WBA it was a very quick and straightforward deal with no dicking around to get the very best deal we could

I don’t think we should ever wear trousers again seen as they are constantly been pulled down by other clubs. We are the Paddy Ashdown of football.

I don't quite believe that if we really wanted a striker we would had dicked about over it, or left it so late to make such a late first bid.
I would expect that we would not be happy if a club did this to us, unless we let them know we would take a late bit if it met our requirements.
It could be a bit of face saving or an attempt at it. We have had some odd reactions from Phil in the past, Twittergate and having 5 strikers to name two!
Who really knows? And if they do know they won't tell us.

Another thing to consider is how long a contract we were offering, Luton's may have been longer. Also he is from Brent, North London, so he will now be about half an hour from home. It is not always just about the two clubs negotiations.

No but we can still hang statues of a white man nailed to cross on our walls!! Yeah, because we all know that guy had white skin, blonde hair and blue eyes; in the fantasy world of Anglo-Saxon Christianity. It shows how programmed we are from a young age.I know Jesus wouldn't have been white. We get taught about other countries and what the inhabitants look like, but close your eyes an picture Jesus and I bet you will see a blonde Charles Manson hippie type nailed to a cross or blessing a kneeling man!!! Perhaps it's a symbolic warning to us!!!

After Adebayos comments today, seems like we messed him about 'eager to play to show them what they missed out on'
If he genuinely turned us down for Luton, this comment wouldn't be needed.

Incorrect. We put in our final bid which was higher than what Luton paid for him in the end. Walsall called our bluff and tried to see if they could get more out of us. Rightly, the club pulled out on the morning of the transfer deadline day and told Walsall to fuck off. They then sold him to Luton for less than what we would of paid. We haven’t been beaten by Luton and he hasn’t chosen Luton over us. In the end it was go to Luton or stay at Walsall. Anything else is just town fans making up their own versions to beat the club with.

“I got a call about half five, by that point I thought I was staying at Walsall, but I’m delighted to be here now, that it’s got over the line.
“It was like, ‘you might be going here, you might be going there.’
“Then I kind of got told, ‘you never know, just keep your phone on and we’ll see what comes later on.’
“Huddersfield was the prime destination as well, but that didn’t quite work out, so I’m happy that Luton have called and I’m happy to be here.
"It was flattering to get a few clubs interested now, but with everything that’s going on, with the pandemic and everything, I am very fortunate to have got my move now.
"If I end up getting my chance (on Saturday) I’ll be looking forward to it and definitely be showing them what they’re missing."
Fits in with Maynards version. Walsall messed us about, we pulled out, he was staying put, then Luton get him later in the day for less.

I don't dispute this is what happened, but what I don't understand is why we 'pulled out and told them to fuck off' when they tried to get a higher price out of us. Why didn't we just leave the offer on the table whilst we (unsuccessfully as it happens) pursued other targets? If we had done this, then surely at around 5:30pm Walsall would have come back to us and accepted the offer. Then we'd have got the player we did seem to want at a price we were happy to pay.

That is called common sense. I think too many egotistical people dealing with these things to take the practical sensible route.
