Thing is... they're all tainted now, no matter what happens from here on in, the fans will - hopefully - not forgive this move. And to cap it all we have suddenly become the 7th most hated team in English Football. Bugger. š¤¬ and probably will become one of the new big 6 in English football

Iām yet to see one fan in favour of this, the clubs have read this massively wrong, I hope we see protests around Old Trafford, Anfield and so on I'm not sure you've been reading all the posts on here, I'm 100% behind it, and others appear to support it in varying degrees too. Can't see what's not to like about it. As I said earlier win win. Good for those billions across the world who want to watch these teams on telly. Good for those who want a more competitive, exciting (and hopefully more financially realistic) domestic programme. I was more so on about fans of the clubs in question mate.

Not sure I'd continue to watch Town when we could never again win the right to play against the top clubs in the country. It would be pointless to me.

That lot can piss off, all you hear from them is 'We're Scouse not English', booing the national anthem etc. Well there you go, you don't think you're English? Off you fuck out of our league then...

Once this goes through teams in the PL will try to make it a closed shop too, like was tried before. No owner will want to risk missing out on the chance to play in the ESL.

I've been thinking this for a while. I m still following Town but I don't care about the game anymore. I haven't really cared for a long time but this season of no crowds etc has left me feeling even more detached. I think as long as I can stand up and watch Brighouse in a competitive league for a couple of hours on a Saturday it will be enough for me in the future. I hope they fuck of I really do, but they won't. They will get what they want and carry on in the premier league with even more power than they currently have, which is a disgrace.

I think Mourinho has more of a moral compass than some people give him credit for. He's got time on his hands now. How about a job swap in the summer - CC to Spurs and we'll have Jose for a bit?

I can only hope this leads to a 50+1 fan control regulation like in German football. Fans need to take back control of their clubs. German football clubs were formed from members sports clubs and sports associations. A bit like the Rugby Union clubs here. Where as most of the clubs in the UK, like it or not, were formed as private entertainment businesses.

How come Wednesday and Forest aren't included in the 12? How can it truly be a European Super League if Europe's most super teams are not included. Absolute travesty!

Fuck me, Ian Holloway on Talksport saying that the Super League idea is a betrayal to the memory of Prince Philip. That's how mad all this has got.

I get what you are saying, but, It might not go that way though. The ESL would be a franchise, meaning they could end moving clubs from their current location like in NFL etc. I gave up watching champions league when it became a league format and 5th place qualified etc. Will the ESL generate the same excitement as the Premier league? Money might reduce, but would become a true competitive league that we actually care about. But, if these 6 leave, I would be happy to investigate the option if integrating the UK leagues. Bringing in ways so that duch as Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen etc. could climb the pyramid to a UK premier league etc.

I'm trying to see Prince Phillip jumping up and down and getting leathered when Leicester won the league or being excited that Leeds are back.. But, I cant.. Have had no interest in the European Cup since every tom, dick and harry got into it because it's a league of the best, 2nd best etc etc... Truth is it's been a sort of european league for a bit.. Still cant see a european super league without the best run club, Bayern, not being in it??

This is all a consequence of months of back office negotiations.
Remember a few weeks back, when Sky broke the story about this and the fact JP Morgan was somewhere in the mix. Some PR statements back at the time that were quoted on here. They released those statements late evening IIRC.
Don't be fooled that this staged release hasn't been planned for a long time.
The point that money envelops a sport and that money goes to the top and not to grass roots, or the betterment of the whole ecosystem of that sport, you can guarantee it's on a very slippery slope.
Unfortunately it'll have massive ramifications for the sport & even if for some reason it doesn't happen this time (which looks unlikely), it will happen.
This is the sort of thing that makes me happy to be a Town fan. I don't have a 'second team', other than ones affiliated to the family (& the Blades will be joining us next yr), so maybe it'll also sort out the trends that seem alien to traditional football supporters?

Let them go, it was clear when we were in the PL that the super-rich clubs were all about money and sports tourism. Just donāt let them stay in the domestic leagues and donāt allow our domestic league winners to be one of the 5 invitees.
The franchise thing is interesting, it wonāt take long to decide that having 2 or more clubs in the same city, 6 from the same country or 20 from the same continent is not the most effective for generating revenue. Tokyo Hotspur?

I would love someone like Rashford to come out and say he would not play in this Super League and immediately put in a transfer request. That would throw a spanner in the works

We are managing reasonably well with our own brand of bigotry without importing it from anywhere else.

Quite an achievement to get 80% of DATM to agree what day it is never mind something about football
Let alone fans of other clubs too

I agree. Heās always come across as someone who respects the history and traditions of the game. Like when he walked from his dugout to applaud the Town fans after our Cup defeat at Stamford Bridge. In the paper, the morning of that game, he said he couldn't believe we were taking 6,000 as when he was at Porto a 3rd division team wouldn't have drawn 6,000 in total to the game. He also suggested PL teams should be made to play away whenever they drew a lower league side and should have to play the first choice XI. Exactly. And I havenāt even mentioned his after match interview when we beat Man Utd. āWe were beaten by the better teamā. He didnāt use one excuse for this. Put aside his wealth just for a second. Heās a top bloke with morals and a genuine love for the game. Heās going to be an interesting watch once he gets invited onto the TV to discuss all of this.
