Just wondered how many of us watched the World Club Championship game between Urwal Red whatever and Al Ally because this is the top level type of football the ESL want to bring us!

Phil Vickery whos the South American correspondent on talksport was on the other day saying how the South Americans cannot believe the lack of interest in europe , particularly England, for this fixture. Over there its huge! They didnt believe we were so uninterested until a Brazilian journalist went to do a piece on Chelsea just before they played Corinthians in the final, and when he turned up at Stamford bridge the people at the club who met him werent even aware Chelsea were in the final!

Yeah its a legit point, possibly a bit of a yard stick who knows, i dont watch the majority of CL games cos im not particularly interested until the semis, i didnt even know this particular fixture was taking place until i looked at my phone in the pub last night.

The point might have been made elsewhere but I suspect before long the Champions League will be about as European as the Song Contest. Saudi money is undoubtedly heading this way & the so-called sportswashing will become a major factor in deciding who plays, where they play & eventually quite possibly who gets to play for which team.
To be honest, the day we end up anywhere near it will probably become the day my allegiance switches permanently to Golcar United.
