Rumours going that that Utd, City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool have signed up to the Super League. Strong responses from the Premier League and Uefa.

How the hell do Arsenal figure in that?

Fuck them.
Seriously, fuck them.
Those greedy bastards have damaged football enough already, time to stop the rot and let them have their way.
And after three seasons of Man United finishing second bottom - to the consternation of their Surrey-based "fans" - if they try to come crawling back, fuck them again.
Apologies for the bad language, but this bare-faced greed makes me sick. I hope they all go bust.

Let's hope it happens. It'll make domestic football in this country more interesting. More opportunity for other teams to win the top division and cups.

PL statement
"We will work with fans, The FA, EFL, PFA and LMA, as well as other stakeholders, at home and abroad, to defend the integrity and future prospects of English football in the best interests of the game."
Since when has the PL had the best interests of the game as an aim? It is all PL, PL and more PL. Only moaning now they might be on the receiving end. Perhaps Town should suggest we have a breakaway Yorkshire league.

Apparently Bayern and PSG are not backing the plans.

Part of me wonders if this is just a way to get more control domestically.
Don't want us to go? We want more voting rights and more of the money.
I imagine the majority of their fans don't want this. It's the owners being greedy pricks.

Presumably they would leave the English league. May make it more competitive, to be honest. When they come crawling back, they have to start in non-league, though.

Apparently Bayern and PSG are not backing the plans. I don't think the German clubs would dare. Their fans would riot. There's a really strong sense of doing the fair and right thing for fans in Germany.

Seen this coming a mile off since they tried to reform football to suit themselves.
Man United v PSG in China in front of 85,000 Chinese fans taking selfies all game.
Man City v Arsenal in Saudi, it’ll end up like the Grand Prix.
Get gone. let football below the top 6 try get back down to a realistic sustained level. Not to mention if you play for the 6 English clubs in the super league. fifa are already talking about banning you from playing for your country.

Let em go. And when it fails and the money dries up we can tell them get fucked and they can start again in tier 7 or wherever.

You have to laugh at Martin Tyler and Gary Neville pooh-poohing the idea of a European Super League saying that it is all down to the 2 G's - guarantee and greed. They just don't get the irony of their comments.

Apart from the fact that all the leagues, FIFA etc have said if they go ahead with it then they'll be banned from all domestic competitions, European competitions, players playing for those teams may not be allowed to play for their national teams, in reality it's little more than a power grab and an attempt to force UEFA to accept their demands.
They don't give (and never have given) a shit about fans, not even fans of their own team, they only give a shit about having every possible bit of money exclusively for them and having every little bit of power they can get.
As far as I'm concerned, they can fuck off and not come back.

It's essentially going to be a Champions League alternative, midweek fixtures and they still play domestically That's what they want, but it can't see it happening. The leagues involved have already come out fighting - which suggests this isn't just paper talk - and it sounds an awful lot like they'd be kicked out of their domestic leagues. Good.

Meanwhile, "super" league Arsenal needed a late, possibly offside goal in the 96th minute to beat relegation-bound Fulham, and Manchester United are drawing at home with the mighty Burnley. Suspect their fans are in for a rude awakening.

I'll never watch a European Super League match. I can't imagine 99% of football fans would want to watch something as soulless as that either. Football sadly isn't what it used to be

If it was the CEO of sky that'd be different. 2 people paid to commentate and give their opinions are doing just that.

I think the best way to deal with this proposed shit show is to say to the clubs, OK off you go but you will be playing in a league that is not FIFA sanctioned. Thus their players would not be available for international selection. That embargo could be lifted if and when a player returns to approved clubs. The European super league would then consist of lesser lights and older players seeking a last wedge. All this is reliant on FIFA and UEFA supporting the national associations and not selling out to the breakaway clubs. For clubs like ours, in all probability, not much will change but maybe it opens the door slightly for smaller clubs to get into the top league

I appreciate that neither if them were happy about Man Utd being in favour of it. It's the fact that they are currently commentating on a Premier League game which is the epitome of greed that I find somewhat ironic.

A double response to this:
1) If it happens never, ever, ever let any of them back into their domestic football associations. They will soon wither and die in such a 'Super League' as only one club can win it at any one time and all those clubs have impatient chairmen who want regular success. The non-winners would soon want to 'come back' to their domestic leagues.
2) Typical that it is the countries with those rich, mainly foreign plutocrats who care nothing for the fans of the said clubs involved. I really wonder how many 'real fans' would like to play matches that are a long way from home or should I say the team they support's home ground every second week. Real Madrid away one fortnight followed by Paris SG in winter does not sound all that tempting at the prices the airlines will charge or the time it will take to get there and back.
This won't happen it is a ploy to force even more cash out of the domestic leagues. Ignore it!

Its just my opinion of course but i dont mind Gary neville as a co commentator, yes hes Man utd but hes given them some harsh criticism in the past while at the same time praising bitter rivals Man city, same with Liverpool, he dosnt make disparaging remarks about them but has praised them when its deserved, it can be so easy to let bias comments slip out now and again but he keeps a lid on things admirably.

Maybe it's time for a shake up of the leagues in general. The way the current Champions League and Europa League are set up at the moment is crap. That certainly needs looking at. At a domestic level the four english leagues need to be looked at as well. Maybe a Premier League One and Two with more money pumped into what is now the Championship. Leagues 1 & 2 would be interesting if they were a Northern League and a Southern League, a geographic split to make it easier and cheaper for the fans to visit away games therefore increasing income at the gates.

I wouldn't trust them at all and take anything they say with a huge pinch of salt.
