Means we can get a fee. Even if it's only £500 from Farsley Celtic, it's better than nowt. A fee minus 3 months pay or whatever the termination clause might be to pay up the contract.

If Mbena is on say £20k per week then committing to an extension would mean we'd need to be certain we're going to get at least £1m for him. I think he would have value to a lower end Ligue 1 club possibly. He's certainly more marketable this summer than he was last summer due to a contribution of goals and assists. Hopefully he won't play for us again, it's just a matter of Phil getting this financial gamble correct.

Nobody in their right mind will pay him what we have been doing. Get rid.

We have had utter wasters before but at least we were not paying them relative fortunes to be shit/injured/off form.

If, as suggested, they have been "offered new deals" perhaps we are looking to negotiate new, more financially appropriate terms rather than simply triggering one year extensions to their existing deals...
I'd personally be open to Isaac staying were he to agree to a 75% paycut and to swap the Lambo for a Nissan Juke.

It’s in everybody’s interests to do it ASAP. Personally, I think we should symbolically blast Pritchard out of a cannon from Castle Hill. I have a cannon! bit small but would do the job.

The decks need to be cleared to rid this club of the malaise its been under for the last 3 seasons. I'm not overly filled with confidence that this will be the case.

We should employ a team of the very best sales people to get rid of as many as possible, as quickly as possible. In all my years of supporting Town I’ve never not cared about players leaving before.

CC and others needs to assess every player at the club. Buggar me what assessing needs to be done now? Should have been sorted weeks ago.

Assess them? You've had the last 3 years and this awful season to see what we can see FFS!!

That has to be a joke. Get the feeling we might have signed the four Maynard said about. But have no idea who will be released. Other clubs are releasing their retained list already. So why can't we

That statement just confirms why we should continue to be concerned about the clubs ability to get things sorted. I don’t read what was said as suggesting they only started to assess the squad once the season ended two days ago. There will be some players that they knew would be released irrespective of what league Town were in next season, and there’ll perhaps be a few that were dependent on what league we’d be in next season, but we’ve known that for a couple of weeks. I expect it’ll be the latter group that they’ll be concentrating on now.

I'm just nervous we'll sign a load more Danny wards...Doesn't fill me with confidence where this club is heading, holmes, Keogh, ward, Sarr, Sanogo, Pipa,....

There would have to have been some parallel planning seeing our league status wasn't secured until last week. This fact would surely have delayed some in and outs, as budgets and wages were not certain.

There will be out of contract players we want to keep and now we know the division we will be in we can start negotiations. These are a two way thing, Hogg's took quite a while and we will have a number going on simultaneously and some will have other options. The outcome of these will have an impact on our other signings. Some players will go and that will have been decided a while ago. Maynard said we have pre-contract agreements with some players and I have no reason to doubt him. I don't care how long the club take as long as they get it right and I don't understand the mentality that if we haven't told the world within two days of the season ending then we have messed up. "Past performance is no guarantee of future results", so maybe this time we will all sit back and applaud (when I say all there will obviously be exceptions regardless of the outcome)

Unless we want to struggle again

Surely CC means assessing the under contract players to compare and see if there’s options to improve any position
Re any players out of contract we want to keep unless we have an option we should tie them down or risk them signing elsewhere. I think Vallejo has an option but not sure on crichlow - who personally I hope we keep
Campbell is the only other I’d retain but I keep reading we triggered his option due to games played

Best wait and see what the official retained list look like before making any judgment. What annoys me is some on here saying this and that but in reality don’t know anything. Only one on here I trust with any info, so let’s just see what develops. I get your angle regarding some of the signings in the last two years, but surely the club are well aware the fans have now had enough, and know they have to get this next transfer window right.

Regardless of if they have already made their minds up on players, the statement was poor and ill advised.

Bacuna and Mbenza both offered new deals. Schindler going back to Germany I see Maynard has liked this post, no wonder they are delaying the announcement of the retained list if we are keeping those two 🙄

Obviously there is more to it but the pea heart pair will no doubt be of interest to some clubs.

Maynardb - I normally believe every word you write, but stating that someone is interested in Mbenza is stretching credulity a tad too far...

I think if you look at all his best bits from this season onto a highlights reel, there'll be plenty of interest. Some genuine quality moments and his stats read well.
