To be fair they're still trying to get the image of David Pleat skipping across the pitch out of their heads - give them some leeway He definitely skipped faster than he drove through red light districts 😉 Maybe the visits to the red light districts gave him that extra spring in his step 🤪

Agreed, solid CB from what I've seen of him.

He sounds like my kind of defender, no nonsense, but i’m not sure how that fits in with playing it out from the back.
I thought we needed more of a Ferdinand than a Vidic if you know what i mean.

Some impressive comments on the Luton announcement. Makes a change from fans being delighted they’ve gone. ‘A man who you would take to war with you’ is a decent one.

He has played a lot of minutes this season. Sounds like a pretty straight up and down defender and given it was our weak spot we need some solidity. Come up from non-league recently but played plenty at this level last two seasons and at 27 probably at his best. Also plays fullback so that is useful.

Get this shifted to the confirmed transfers thread on the transfers sub board.

Happy to get someone in early to sure up the back line. Obviously not the most inspiring signing but hopefully will be solid.

You know what kind of player he is by that comment, if Schindler was a rolls Royce centre back, this guy is a Sherman tank centre back.

Hopefully a coup on a free, seems a solid addition to the squad anyway. I’m glad we’re signing a proper hard bastard centre half instead of our premier league prima donas

Get this shifted to the confirmed transfers thread on the transfers sub board. It's not a 'rumour' anymore so I think it's allowed on here now

Solid is a word that's been used both complimentary and somewhat derogatory ??
Centre back is SOLID..
First off there is nothing wrong in that and secondly it's not something we have said since Schindler..
Goals against is the first column we need to change, a lot.

Its not something I would associate with this type of centre back. Agreed though, the leaking of goals needed to be sorted.

Sounds like a very decent first signing to me. I just hope he’s a bit of a leader in the peter Clarke mold that can help Sarr to concentrate for 90 mins

As with a lot of early season signings, can’t really judge until everyone is in. A good solid option, if he’s the best centre back we’re going to sign then it’s a bit underwhelming but we need gritty battlers with the right character and he sounds like that.

Not seen much of him. But seems solid. We have potentially lost 4 centre half’s from the squad. It’s like some folk expect us to be signing Harry maguire Problem is ( like with goalkeepers) the way we play out from the back means that a Centre Half has also got to be good on the ball. Personally, I’d prefer us to have a tough uncompromising player ( like Peter Clarke) but it’s not as easy as that anymore. To be fair, after seeing him play for Halifax, albeit few years ago, I’d would say he is a tough uncompromising player. He definitely loves a tackle!

From looking at his stats he looks like a fine signing. Split last season between CB and RB. At both positions he was in the 90th+ percentile for frequency that he passed forwards so he has the mindset that Carlos is looking for. I agree with what another poster said earlier in that he looks best suited to be a right sided CB in a 3-4-3.

If Jon Hogg was a centre back he would probably be Matty Pearson. We need strength and leadership at the back to allow the ‘flair’ players to do their thing. I think this is what he brings.

If he can stop his new team mates from pissing about with the ball in defense we could double our points total from last season

Far from convinced going by the comments from the Luton fans but its got to be an upgrade on 3 centre halves who hardly played last season and 2 who were accidents waiting to happen

Reading the Luton fans comments it seems his passing is his main weakness. And that's a worry if you're wanting to play out from the back. It depends how stubborn Carlos wants to be. If he insists on playing it out from the back as he has done this season then I expect we will see more mistakes leading to goals. If he is there to do a job as a solid defender who doesn’t piss about with it, then I think we will concede less.
