His return is hardly a secret but some reports are suggesting he had his medical yesterday ahead of signing for 3 years.

Best finisher we’ve had in my lifetime.
Would have scored 15 with the amount of chances Campbell missed last season.

So Phil went from acknowledging errors yesterday, to giving Rhodes a 3 year deal today? I still have absolutely everything crossed its not going to happen. Come on Maynard, please say we have no interest. I would rather us give his wages to charity, than see another ex professional skank a shit load more money out of us.

Unfortunately I got the shit news last night. Now trying to think of something else to do on a Saturday afternoon ☹️ You could spend your Saturdays going on DATM and commenting on every Jordan Rhodes thread about how you won't get a season ticket whilst the 8th highest scorer in our history is playing for the club?

If we do sign him I think the 2 years and the club option of an extra year would be OK.

Can't even begin to argue with your two points. ....but can you justify a THREE year contract? .....because I'm struggling and after Danny Ward / Duane Holmes I'm beginning to wonder if the approach is correct? PS ...Of course a massive wage cut has had to be involved as well....

He's had other offers but chose Town. I'm a bit unsure as it feels a bit of a gamble but would be great if it works out for him and us. Can lightning strike twice? We'll see

Let's hope it's 6 months with no option.... absolutely crazy signing. Problem with asking the wrong questions of the data
When it's confirmed I did say I wouldn't renew my season tickets either, I'm not contributing to his wages, pulled between the positive news I've been hearing from someone at the club and then this.....

Maybe 2 years with an option year That's my thoughts on it. 2 year contract with club option 3rd year. No harm in that..... in theory.

I'm not a fan of this old boys reunion stuff and this isn't the 8th highest scorer we loved 10 yrs ago. If he has taken a massive reduction in wages then fair enough, but I'm hoping this is more a bulking up the squad approach, rather than a reliance on a 31 yr old Jordan Rhodes. Hopefully, further down the line we will have a loan striker lined up as well

Resigning Ward and Holmes has not gone well, no doubt about it. But it doesn’t necessarily follow that this is going to turn out the same way. I’m feeling very positive about this, it’s great he’s coming back and I have no doubt that he’s going to get back to finding the net again next season.
I don’t care what’s happened to his “data” in the last few years - Rhodes is a natural goal scorer and he’s 31 not 51. I think this is great news.

Will he be a Boothy Mk 2 or will he be a Jon Stead Mk 2?
I personally think we are crying out for a goalscorer and he can score goals. Somebody on twitter said that his minutes per goal ratio at Wednesday works out at 1 goal in 3 games which is a decent return for this level.

We’re probably paying him a fortune. We’ve tried it so many times and how often does it work out??? On top of all that. His record since leaving Blackburn is not very good. I guess non of his managers were playing to his strengths???

Weird isn’t it? We sign a centre-back no one has ever heard of and people are basically having a wank. Sign one of the best goalscorers we’ve ever had on the back of not having had anyone scoring since he left and people are throwing their teddies out!

I'm not one for wanting us to bring ex players back, especially after Ward and Holmes but you cannot deny the ability is there. Not only did he score goals for fun with us he's done it at Championship level for Blackburn too.
The last few seasons aside, he has a far better goals to game ratio than any striker who's played for us since. IF and I know it's a big if we can get him anywhere near that level again he'd be an asset and an improvement, still not too old to turn it around.

The other point which I think is valid is that we have a squad riddled with inexperience. The Championship is a bloody tough league - we need some battle hardened pro’s in our squad.
