This is my issue with Rhodes. I can see value in each of Campbell, Ward & Rhodes as squad players but none of them fill me with confidence as a regular in the squad, the way CC seems to want to play. Each of them are good options to have off the bench, but I still see us struggling with that position day to day if he's the only incoming striker. Think that’s a valid point. I’d agree that we need one more ( younger ) striker to be brought in. If that happened I think we’ll get goals next season. Should probably have worded my post better. All are good squad regulars. I meant regular starters. Each one is a very viable "Plan B" that could help manage a game we're winning or be an extra forward if we're chasing an equaliser/winner. Each one could be well worth their place on the bench or even as occasional starters. Unless there's somebody else coming in though, I struggle to see what "Plan A" is. And if there is somebody else coming in, how many first team centre forward options do we need (bearing in mind that in addition to the 3 I mentioned, Harratt & Philips may need opportunities, and Koroma & Danny Grant might also be options there) when we tend to play just one up front? Throw in the likely salary demands from JR & this one is a bit of a head-scratcher for me.

Ignoring Rhodes and his ability for a second, as at the very least he’s a different option to our other strikers.. the most worrying thing is we’ve yet again gone for someone who has previously been with the club, or is local, and doesn’t appear to fit Carlos’s style.
Very worrying when people have been questioning Bromby and the recruitment team for some time. Does nothing to prove they’re actually supporting Carlos and have any contacts/a strategy whatsoever to be giving him what he wants or needs.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this is announced today or the weekend, rumoured his medical is done and Pete O’Rouke the former sky sports news fella said the deals signed today.

Reckon it will be one of them that they don't announce for 3-4 weeks because they are too busy coming up with some cheesy graphics and videos to announce it.
I'm looking forward to his interview where he starts every sentence with 'yeah' in a delicate but enthusiastic way

I think it’s just best to reserve judgement until he’s played. Not many(me included) thought hogg would fit Carlos’ system/style but he won player of the year. You maybe quite right but probably bear to wait and see.

Or does it only apply at the end of his contract which I guess is end of month?

A week after coming off the bench at Southend away when we were 2-0 down at half time. Funnily enough we didn't get into the ground till half time so missed the worst & saw the best of that match

If memory serves Rhodes and Novak came on for Robinson and Simpson.

Someone once asked me what does Jordan Rhodes do? My reply after some thought was - he scores goals - simple really. My SWFC supporting mates and family all believe that with the right service he would have scored goals for them - even when he played well he was often dropped to the bench the following game, something that they could never understand. Some question him fitting into Corberan's style which is what? Get the ball into the box? How many times as that happened and we either have no player there or the striker is not aware enough to get across the defender, or the second ball simply gets cleared. Jordan Rhodes will not get away off the shoulder with a burst of pace over 20 meters, what he will do is be bright and alert to the second ball/half chance, he will be sharp over the first metre across the defender, he will be different to the strikers that we have, defenders will be aware that he is a threat and will need marking creating space for others - he will, I believe with the right service, score goals. I doubt that he will cause trouble, he will always give his best and our young strikers might just learn something from him - I'm okay with his return if and when it happens. I think it was Mick Buxton told the tale of a striker (I think played for Burnley) who scored four goals in a drubbing of the opposition and overheard the following conversation after the match ......Supporter one..that lazy so and so does nothing for the team just hangs around the opposition box...supporter two.. what the fuck he scored four goals today ! Supporter one okay yes he did, but you tell me one other thing he did to help his team mates he never tracked back once and helped out in defence ! I might have got the story worng in parts but basically it sums up some peoples attitudes. Maybe someone else remembers the story more better than me and can tell the tale better ? The best comment was made by a mate of mine at the time when we were pushing for promotion from the old div 3 and played Cardiff at Leeds road in a 6 pointer. He was asked about Mark Lillis by some radio reporter and his answer was Mark Lillis would never be a striker .....we beat them 4-0 and Mark Lillis got all four Think it was Jimmy Robson that Buxton was referring to.

I may be getting abit giddy following a couple of Friday sherberts but I think Rhodes will get us double figures next season. All the the scraps from Koroma's shots and crosses. Pipa and toffs crosses.
Put the ball In that box and Rhodes will score.

Throw in the likely salary demands from JR & this one is a bit of a head-scratcher for me. See your point. None of us know how we will set up and play next season yet. With lockdown etc I’ve watched a massive amount of Championship football this season, not to mention all bar 2 of our games. One thing I noticed was that the vast majority of teams were far more physical than we were and lots played with more than one striker. Maybe we will change our set up to enable us to be more competitive? In my mind, the more options up front we have the better. Our forward players will have to work to get a place in the team and we’ll have options on the bench. When you consider how weak we have been in the forward areas this season I think things are looking promising already for next season. I’m looking forward to welcoming back the most natural finisher I’ve ever seen play for Town.

If he's half as prolific as he was in his last spell he'll be twice as prolific as any of our other strikers
