Out of interest, what sort of money / transfer fees do you think we should be spending on Players?. If you were in charge of recruitment, what would your recruitment policy be?. I tried for some details from terriers321 regarding a link to all the poor reports Oxford supporters had given Ruffels but it has been unsurprisingly quiet. I think we may be into WUM territory. not like he has ever been a stand out player at this level. I echo what others have said in that I think Josh will struggle at Championship level. He's not a great 1v1 defender and is very one-footed - he never looks comfortable on the ball to me. I'm not that disappointed to see him leave, but he's been a decent servant to the club and I'm pleased for him that he's (seemingly) got himself a decent pay rise. He's not a great player but a really good guy Think the consensus here is we'd like him to stay but if he does go he's not irreplaceable which I think suggests his level. Not sure whether he'd cope too well with Championship wingers That took me five minutes, wasnt hard was it? If you rank commitment a much higher attribute than ability. I can only presume you have a missus with a face like a slapped arse.

We’ve seen what happens with a squad of players who are soft as…

"been a reliable and versatile player throughout...here's to another 200-300 performances for the yellows"
"a very important part of the squad now. A real 7/10 performer week in, week out."
Difference is that these were taken from a thread written before they knew he was leaving. Depends what you look for I suppose.

Hang on a sec, he accused me of talking bullshit when I said my original post. All Ive done is back it up. I never said there wasnt positive posts about him. Hes obviously well thought of. Although in terms of ability you can see most dont think he is championship level.

Or trying to back up what your imaginary Oxford fan best mate 'told' you? I think the general consensus is that he'll be solid back up for Toffolo who had similar comments from the fans of his former club when he came. We wasn't the only championship club sniffing around Ruffels either, Blackburn, Luton & Forest were also strongly linked. You don't make the playoffs two years on the bounce if your LB is a weak link.

I’d agree he sounds a very decent back up. In many respects I can’t see why he’s come to play second fiddle to Toffolo, albeit he will no doubt get some game time as and when Toffs burns out. But would have thought at his age he’d be wanting to be first choice. Same with Turton. Just hoping we’re not flogging Toffs and Pipa because I think with both signings in their late 20s neither will be a long term replacement and would likely be a downgrade on our first choice full backs.

No I asked for a link to the forum. This is a selection which may, or may not, be a reflection of the comments as a whole. If you took a selection of comments from DATM on any of our players you would get different opinions, it is a forum after all. Regarding those comments the issue people raise is his defensive ability, but neither of our first choice fullbacks are good defenders, so I hope Carlos has a plan to improve our defence in other ways. As it is he sounds like a similar player to Toffs and having started as a midfielder hopefully he will be better on the ball than some of the comments you posted suggest.

Like you say forums are all about opinions and all I have done is voice mine that I dont think hes a great signing and my reasonings why. Whether you agree with it or not is upto you. It seems to have rubbed a few people up the wrong way on here as I havnt gone along with the great work from the club, great signing crowd. I'm in the minority on here that havnt been impressed by our signings in general, not just him. Hopefully to be proven wrong.

Maybe when you crawl out your mums basement and get a bit of sunlight you might meet someone from such tropical destinations.

yellowsforum.co.uk/threads/josh-ruffels.3936/Mixed views certainly, but Interestingly the comments about him seem a lot more positive just after he'd signed a one year contract with them, as opposed to when he decided to leave.
