Banned. Given a life ban by the admins. Like him or loathe him, and he certainly did divide opinion, I think the board is going to be a poorer place without him. Just like it is without Enoch and Nick. I still do not agree with life bans. I definitely think we should have a vote to keep or reject that rule, just as we did with foul language. The admins should administer to the rules - agreed, but they should not be totally omnipotent when it comes to deciding what those rules are.

He could have been banned 10 times over with some of the stuff he's said. He's been let off countless times because of his condition, yet he keeps on pushing.

There is absolutely no need to post something like this, other than to stir things and beg for attention:

Homosexuality is deviant, i think it a poor lifestyle choice, i think its unhealthy, but i have no problem with grown men carrying out their sexual perversions (yes, another perfectly legitimate word that your tiny brain with struggle with) in the privacy of their own homes.

I feel very uncomfortable with otium receiving a life ban truth be told . He deserves one in terms of the boards rules . No criticism of the admins from me. But he is allegedly end of life so it doesn't feel right . On a personal note many is the time that we have shared very pleasant personal correspondence. In many ways he is a gentleman and on many occasions he has offered to sort me out for tickets and asked to meet up for (non violent) repartee and bonhomie

You can agree or disagree with posts and posters.
No one is forced to read anything.
If people read something they don’t like, move on to another page.
There are probably 3 or 4 posters that make me want to participate on the board.
One has now gone.
I understand rules need to be set and followed. It’s a thankless task being an admin. I suppose you can only get ‘one more chance’ so many times.
But the board has lost another great poster.

Maybe if the off topic and politics sections were taken off the forum more people wouldnt be under threat of bans as much, thing is those sections are the most entertaining and during non football days its the first place many of us look....yes we all know who we are.

Just been on Oti’s profile to read his last 20 posts, as I assumed the straw that broke the camels back would be in there somewhere.

However, I can’t see anything to suggest a lifetime ban is necessary.

I didn’t agree with him on 90% of topics, but this is a sad day for the forum, and a real shame.

Didn't agree with the fella on pretty much anything, and I do think he crossed the line a few too many times. The quote above about homosexuality is particularly bad, and borders on discriminatory. The admins can only give so many second chances.

That said, I'll miss the debate and wish him well with his health.

Don’t know the in’s and out’s of the rules of banning from the blog but like to wish oti all the best wishes in his battle with his illness.
Sadly ma daddy was taken with lung cancer at 70 in 2006 though I’ve to be thankful he was in his local boozer twice that day and just came home and slept away. It wasn’t so nice for his sister, my auntie Isobel in Canada though, a painful end at 66, but I’ve mates that did BEAT the big C so come on oti all the very best to you in your quest to do just that, to beat that awful diagnosis.

Just an idea; maybe have a more family friendly set of rules for the main board re swearing etc, and a different more relaxed set of rules for Off Topic but with an overarching warning to readers of content.
