What did he say to get banned? Read back on some of his previous posts and there's fuck all in there worthy of an, so it must be from some time ago. I think impact has quoted his comment in his post further up the page

What did he say to get banned? Read back on some of his previous posts and there's fuck all in there worthy of a ban, so it must be from some time ago. I’m guessing in discipline cases (of all degrees) the offending posts will be removed at the time?

Maybe if the off topic and politics sections were taken off the forum more people wouldnt be under threat of bans as much, thing is those sections are the most entertaining and during non football days its the first place many of us look....yes we all know who we are. Just an idea; maybe have a more family friendly set of rules for the main board re swearing etc, and a different more relaxed set of rules for Off Topic but with an overarching warning to readers of content. Politics already has a different set of rules: The politics and current affairs sub-board is the only board we tend to administer differently. Here, we tend to allow some conduct that we may not allow elsewhere – debate can often become heated and some of the opinions can become unsavoury, but generally we tend to let this play out and the users of the sub-board to police themselves. This does not mean you can’t report posts, but it does mean that we’ll review them bearing the location of them in mind. As a general rule of thumb, if your post would normally result in a yellow card, we will most likely let it slide. However, we take each report on merit, and repeated low level offending on this sub board may well trigger sanctions and we still expect users to conduct themselves appropriately. Our advice to those who may like to avoid contentious and often controversial debate is to stick to the main board.

May be a good time for Oti to reflect on his life and not bow out as a Homophobe and a racist.

I support the admins. If you get warned and just keep pushing it then the outcome is in your own control. I just skipped a lot of the stuff he posted but stuff like that needs calling out.

I'm actually amazed he lasted on here as long as he did given some of the unbelievably controversial stuff I've seen him throw out without a seconds thought, and most, if not all of the disciplinary action I've personally encountered from the admins has been down to taking the bait and completely losing my rag with him. However, one thing I would never accuse him of being is dull. You didn't skip past an Oti post for fear of missing something and I'll miss his daily shadow-boxing with Ted and a few other posters enormously 😂
I hope he throws everything he's got into his personal battle with that dreadful disease as if anyone deserves to tell the tale about knocking it on it's arse then its Otium.

Yes even though i do it myself swearing on the main forum isnt a good thing, if a parent came on and saw some of the posts that his son or daughter was reading he/she wouldnt be impressed, even though its nothing they wont have heard before at the match.

As others have said this forum will be all the more dull without Oti and I think the timing is abysmal given his current health issues. We live in a world that purports to permit free speech yet seemingly only within the confines permitted by the thought police who seek to moderate our views to fit the acceptable narrative. A sad day, farewell Oti.

So he's got banned for being homophobic. Does this mean people practicing homophobic religions are also unwelcome on the forum?

Banning people for speech "crime" is a bad road to go down. Who did he offend?
I did agree with a lot of what he said but not everything and that surely is what a forum is all about.

Given the allegedly more relaxed approach to administration on the politics forum I’m slightly surprised at this action. It seems to me that on that forum there are about 10 posters that say the same thing now on a topic as they have always said…… time and time again, and argue with the same posters …… time and time again. In the last few weeks it seems to have got even worse than usual with these same 10 posters contributing 99% of all posts and resorting to almost constant personal abuse.
I’m not sure Otium has been any worse than any of the others on the politics forum recently. I hesitate to use the phrase “the usual suspects” but in my view they are just as culpable as Otium was in inciting the bad feelings on there. People’s views on politics and current affairs are invariably too polarised or too entrenched, so to think that a topic on there will stick to the subject and NOT descend into bad feeling and abuse is futile, in my opinion.
I know Otium has been banned several times before and had been warned that he was on his last chance (so therefore he can’t really complain at the action finally taken by the admins - who I think do a good job in general), but it just seems a bit sad and unfortunate.
Best of luck Otium, thanks for the occasional supportive and generous PM, and let us hope you get to see your beloved HTAFC very soon.

Admin starts a thread asking how we stop racism in football and general - Education is deemed the answer.
Couple of days later they're banning 'racists' from the forum.
Priceless.

Whatever happened to... "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."?
There are no caveats to that statement. Either you believe in free speech or you do not. There can be no 'halfway houses.'

As much as he loves a story, with him being ill I'd rather he be here tbh. It's a tad harsh given circumstances, warn him but let him have his fun. Let him live it

I believe the offending post was more of a threatening rant. Whether or not we like the rules they are there to hopefully stop folk crossing the line. If Otium is as super intelligent as he claims then he should have been more aware than most about where the line (forum rules) is, and he chose to cross it. Hopefully he will use his energy for the benefit of his health.

Where were the rules that stopped the England players getting abuse? Where were the rules that go against racially abusing three black men online, is that what you want to know? Is it not obvious or have I missed something?

Where were the rules that stopped the England players getting abuse? That is actually against the law, as some people are now finding out. If media companies policed their systems it could be stopped. This is our admins policing the message board they offered to help maintain and I support them.

Absolutely fooking pricelessly ridiculous behaviour from the admins. Oti is like marmite, and he pushes a log of people's buttons but FFS have some conscience and give him a break. The bloke's in his final yards of his life...shame on the decision makers...even if he has flouted the 'rules' who cares
