The truth will out one day and we will all see clearly who the saviour of Huddersfield Town really was. You got me there

Is this actually true that Nick wasn’t allowed to join their forum? Yes, we were visionaries. I don't know about visionaries but definitely sensible 😁

Life bans are a reflection of poor work from Admin and poor moderation, apart from the obvious Leeds WUM. To be fair deleting posts where users are just swearing at each other and generally been abusive and chucking them off for the evening would be pro-active admin, moderation work. Not letting it happen, let hundreds of people be annoyed by it and then dishing out bans like confetti after the event. I must say, the idea of a lifetime ban doesn’t sit well. A lifetime ban removes the notion that people can redeem themselves. It takes away the idea that they can’t change. Most people change in one way or another over the course of one year - never mind five, or even ten. Some people don’t, of course, and I imagine the admins believe Otium falls into that category. I absolutely support Otium receiving punishment, he deserves it, regardless of his unfortunate illness. But, make it reasonable, make it sensible. There are a few alternatives to a lifetime ban: the main one being a rule where you’re banned for x amount of years instead of your whole life. That’s the only rule I would change on here. Otherwise, I think the admins have it spot on. He’d had a month ban at the start of the year for similar comments.

To go from a one month ban to a lifetime ban is massive 😂😂

Good points. 1. I'm afraid that Proboards is not capable of such fine tuning. This is not correct. You can create a new private (so people have to be manually moved into it) Member Group. Then on a per board or per category level**, go into the settings / permissions and for the desired options select 'Custom' - you can then add the new private group in the... "And members in the group" setting if you want to have a board that *only* people in the new private group (and any moderator or admin groups that you tick) can get at. ...or the "Except members in the group" setting if you want to have a board that people added to the new private group *can't* access. Then you just add and remove the naughty people into this new private group, and it would be very easy for example to create a ring-fenced area so that those in temporary ban type situation can discuss issues with multiple admins in a limited forum (rather than via PM which limits them to sensible conversation with a single admin), whilst also preventing them from replying to, or creating any new threads elsewhere (but letting them still read what is happening). Using similar approach, it would also be easy to implement a concept such as "red card banned from posting in the child friendly football areas, but you're still allowed to post in more robust 'caveat emptor' type areas in Off Topic" config if that was ever desired. **For the benefit of those who don't know, if you go to the top level of datm, then 'Forum Rules', 'Support', 'General', etc are 'categories' - and then the individual forums of "Forum Rules & Admin Issues", "Talk of the Town" etc are 'boards'. I never realised it was so simple. A 6-year-old could do it.

Hmm 🤷♂️🤣 There arent 16000 members who need adding to a naughty boys group! Maybe you need a tech savvy admin to sort out the efficient running of the board also if you’re out of your depth…is this what BoltonTerrier or DannyG did historically? As Kenny says, a 6 year old could do it. ..it’s incredibly simple, it’s what I do with my forum.

Sure, it costs £1000 (non refundable) processing fee to apply to be accepted to join. For those accepted, its a £100 per month, payable annually in advance. Its not very diverse or socially aware, I only take provable virgins with nice hair and skin, but thems the rules.

Not letting it happen, let hundreds of people be annoyed by it and then dishing out bans like confetti after the event. So would you say people banned for driving are the result of poor policing? If I didn't know your history as a poster, I'd assume this was a parody. Well, it looks like the people have spoken and im representative of at least a section of the site that currently aren't represented by the current admin. With the Pro vote running at approx 30% it appears that I will shortly be ordained as a fully fledged member of the ADMIN team. The first change i wish to make is to appoint a moderation team of 10, Im happy to oversee this, but probably think Kenny would be better doing so as at the moment either myself or Grim would be chalk and cheese and Kenny is probably more centre ground. The moderation team has no privilages other than putting out raging bin fires and will all be on trial, I think you get a better badge and description on your avatar. Once im moved over to ADMIN, i will insigate this change with approval from the other ADMIN members so anyone interested should apply quickly as those on the site most often are likely to be those that put their name down first. Second on my list of changes id like to make with approval from the other ADMIN is to look at the rules with regards length of bans and the totting up process, there is work to do there, its not a perfect system by any means, It may take some getting through the ADMIN team, but I appreciate any constructive ideas by PM or you can add on this thread. Thirdly, I think the site needs tidying up, there are far too many menus and navigation to be made. I know grim had tried in this respect, but ill be looking to bring transfers back to the main page, as the main page becomes pretty useless during the off season and the transfer section pretty useless during the season so seems abit unnecessary, its bearable for the January window, but for 4 weeks a year seems a bit messy. Hopefully folks put the past behind them and get behind the ADMIN of the people to initiate positive change on this forum, Yours in Sport WONS, SUPERNOVAK, TOWNRWE, NEWSNETWORKS, PLATINUM MEMBER.

I can confirm, unequivocally, my previous statement. There are no current vacancies, and even if there were this isn't how they would be filled. Simply posting that you have decided you will be an admin will not result in you becoming an admin. I'd also refer you to your own post here: Please god NO!!!!!! I only offer as I know id never be allowed. You're taking the piss. You know it. I know it. The other admins know it. So feel free to carry on - it's embarrassing to watch you soil yourself like this for all to see, but it does pass the time.

I didnt expect to have enough support, now I feel I owe it to the community to serve. Ive slept on it and Ive changed my mind, I wish to become an ADMIN, ive been proposed and seconded and I have some great ideas that im sure we can work on together and improve the forum. Im not sure how long the process takes but im expecting to be in role by 1pm. Thanks. Also I think you will find that without a constitution the minimum committee size is 5. Therefore you have at least 2 vacancies that need filling, there is usually no upper limit on the size of a committee.
