Definitely remember playing Southampton in a league cup tie around the mid 90s. Lost 0-1 at home and then 4-0 away. Le Tissier scored all 5 for them. I was in Majorca when we got dicked 5-0 at home to Arsenal. Had my Town shirt on that night and got some merciless ribbing off some gooners fans in the pub we were in. Wankers. Ian Wright hat trick if I'm not mistaken. Then 1-1 at Highbury, with Iain Dunn scoring ours? A couple of masterclasses there. Ian Wright was superb that night & Le Tissier at The Dell was just phenomenal. How the hell he had so few games for England is still a mystery to me. Ian Wright's performance that night is one of the best I've seen by an opposition player against us. Le Tissier was superb as well. Yes, Iain Dunn scored in the 1-1 draw at Highbury.

Only bright spot for Town v Arsenal was a very creditable performance by Boothy (debut?) who was surprisingly included ahead of Iwan. Nobody would go with me for 2nd leg and never got to Highbury. Southampton - Le Tissier was, indeed, outstanding and we were thoroughly spanked. Main memory is of how much of a death trap the Dell was under the stands - you could barely move (think QPR but much worse). I was stopped on the M62 going over 90 that night around Heywood. Copper let me off when I told him where we had been. I’d had enough punishment was his verdict.

Atmosphere was superb & sometimes you've just got to appreciate a footballer's brilliance, even when they're playing for the opposition. Decent banter with Merson at the Arsenal match too.

No, certainly not Boothy's debut, think his debut was a Tuesday night game at Carven Cottage, might be mistaken though.

I do try and be positive but that looks incredibly weak, few injuries and we are bare bones. Signings needed regardless of players going out IMO

I thought Boothy's debut was a Tuesday night as well but I thought it was at Blackpool - November 1992?

Game now changed to a full 90 Sarr and Vallejo not risked due to knocks Koroma and chrichlow back from isolation but brown isn’t.possible transfer?or just contacted by track and trace at a later date potentially. I think that’s almost the team that will start the season unless any leave.pipa to replace turton when fit and depending what happens with bacuna either he or an incoming midfielder to replace high. Sarr May start before colwill but would be surprised if didn’t Only other changes could foresee would be right side,Holmes May go into midfield if can find a suitable right winger, will mbenza come back into fold if can’t offload or if we do we may bring one in.Potentially Rowe plays there when fit again. Last position would be no9 think it’s pretty up for grabs between the 3 of them.

Koroma & Crichlow out of Covid isolation but not Reece Brown. Positive test?
No Aaron Rowe. No Danny Grant. No Rolando Aarons. Strange, given the situation on our RW. I'd have thought they'd all get a run out ahead of putting somebody who is nominally a CM out there.

So how many of the team are isolating & how many are injured?
No Aarons, Rowe, Pipa, Campbell, Brown, REG, Vallejo, Sarr, Grant, Bacuna or Mbenza in the squad.

Lots of ifs and butts dazzled but yes there are plenty options but today it's a friendly and whatever the result a chance for the lads to get some more yards in there legs no doubt the moaners will be on if things go against us but we are used to that

Even if you're right though, was there any need for that tone in your response?

Signings needed regardless of players going out IMO by my count there's 9 out injured/with covid/otherwise missing, 8 of which are first teamers. Hopefully just short term or precautionary stuff. Campbell Pipa Bacuna Mbenza Aarons Grant Sarr Vallejo Rowe

A masterclass I can remember was a certain Stan Collymore for Southend at Leeds Road. Remember asking as a kid who he was, next thing he's on the big stage doing it. Shame how he went, he was a talent

Koroma Ward Holmes High O'Brien Hogg Toffolo Colwill Pearson Turton Nicholls
Could be in for another pounding to be honest. Lots of players out but that's not far off from the team that will be our championship squad.

Can the camera man jump up on the roof at HT? Or at least zoom in when ball is towards goal, must be filming it on a 1990s camcorder

1-0 Norwich.
Holmes holding on to the ball too long when he was the last man. Should have got rid of it.

We’re still trying to play out from the back with players who aren’t very good at it.

Good to see we are every bit as wank as how we finished last season.
Criminal that Holmes is anywhere near that side
