Bit tougher than Harrogate and Southport. Comprehensively outplayed so far. Cannot cope with Norwich press.

Same fucking problems. No out ball, trapped in our own third, and no ability to play the ball through the press. We need to sign 4-5 first team players.

Good to see we are every bit as wank as how we finished last season. Criminal that Holmes is anywhere near that side Astonishing that same players who were crap last season are just as crap.

We have no real quality, we all know we need 4 5 fist team players. It's poor and it's going to be exactly the same as last season. You can see it now

I might wait till we have played 10 league games with the team he wants to put out, playing how he wants, before passing comment.
These are run outs and trials in a semi serious setting.
I neither get over excited by friendlies or deeply depressed
Especially after 20 odd minutes.
They are a yes or a no or a maybe for players and tactics..

It could take till next year for those ten games to occur. We need a squad that can compete in the lower reaches of the championship, not just a first eleven.

People having a meltdown to being 1-0 down to a PL team in a friendly, hilarious.

We've added league one players to an already avergae squad. We were hardly going to have turned in to Brazil over the summer break

We look quite well drilled. Pressed ok and won the ball in some decent areas. Same old story though. No quality in the final third. It’s criminal how we never address it year after year.

Recruitment board have got a lot of shit and rightly so - but they’ve picked a belter in getting Levi Colwill.
Gives me Chilwell/ESR vibes where you can tell they’re going to have great careers.

Not too bad a half at all, though we had very little penetration & no real quality in the final third, if our front 3 is going to be Koroma, Ward & Holmes probably the best we can hope for is a non-relegation scrap.
Big positives for me are:
Nicholls has had little to do but just looks more like a decent quality GK than Schofield - he might not make the saves but he stops the situation getting to that point.
Colwill looks like he'll be a quality player, some of his passing is superb & I was worried about the physicality aspect of him stepping up to men's football, but, on this showing, I needn't have bothered.
Pearson is a terrific communicator & looks a solid championship defender, while Turton has had a good half too.
High really grew into the half & surprised me how well he did - his pressing was fantastic, if he can keep that up for 90 minutes he could well break through this season.
Considering the quality of the opposition (it looks a near full strength Norwich team to me) not too bad a half at all.

Pretty much how I see it, loads of effort and well drilled but just no quality in the attacking areas bar koroma To put names to it, it’s Ward and Holmes who just don’t have the ability to take the ball or create anything from 30 yards out and turn it into a goal. High should have banged that breakaway, Ward was never going to score. Colwill looks the best CB we’ve got.

So basically we need to sell Mbenza and Bacuna. Add two quality attacking midfielders and we will be laughing.
If we can improve the defence then we could have a decent season. The problem last season wasn’t in scoring goals.

Usual story, zero threat in the final third & susceptible to counter attacks.
If Ward is our main focal point up front next season then we're in big trouble.

If we get 10 outfield players on the pitch working hard for the whole game, it's already an improvement. Being at the bottom end for 3 seasons in a row is where we are starting from, not the season we went up. I will wait and see.
Given 50 odd years of watching town I have been overly optimistic and very pessimistic in seasons that went completely the other way to what I, in my expert opinion, thought was going to happen, from signings made, players lost and the previous season(s), encouraging/discouraging pre season games .

The problem last season wasn’t in scoring goals. Also a starting RB if Pipa goes and a proper striker. And no, we won’t be laughing unless laughing means not facing a relegation scrap.

The problem last season wasn’t in scoring goals. It wasn’t but those two were involved in a surprising (to me) number of the goals we scored last season. We need to get them out or involved. Please no repeat of last season where we had Grant sat on the sidelines til the end of the window and then nobody lined up to replace him!

Only ever remember the FA Cup one, probably due to the Match of the Day coverage in fairness. Yeah the Warnock era one. I do remember, although not the score, Southampton at the McAlpine. Scott Mcdonald playing for them and didn't we end up getting him? Think we got dicked that game too. I think we may have been beaten 0-5 that night too....we did have McDondald, did nowt much for us was a hit at Celtic. We lost 1-0 at home and 4-0 at the Dell. Le Tiss got all 5. Booth missed a 1 on 1 down there to level the aggregate scores then Tiss took over.

No, certainly not Boothy's debut, think his debut was a Tuesday night game at Carven Cottage, might be mistaken though. I thought Boothy's debut was a Tuesday night as well but I thought it was at Blackpool - November 1992? I think Blackpool was his first goal, scored past Lee Martin

Been good bits and bad bits. They are a good good side and their press is immense so struggling a touch to play out from the back against this particular side isn’t too much of a worry, colwill has broke the lines/press a few times though with a number of passes.Pearson that isn’t his game would seem he’s there to organise, defend and be vocal(basically a younger fitter more robust model to stearman elphick keogh etc)although some of his cross field passing hasn’t been awful. Holmes for me the jury still out but he certainly can’t play wide right would seem as isn’t quick enough or strong enough. This midfield 3 has bundles of energy commitment but limited passing ability(I believe this is a strength of high but yet to see it regularly he is young tjough) Nicholls looks very assured snd bigger than I thought.I think the 4/5 players required is over the top 2 be adequate 3 would be great. Not to forget though it’s a friendly against what was comfortably the best team in the division last year.

The Norwich City's training grounds a bit 'twee' I wonder if Delia does cream teas in the conservatory?

The main things we should be looking out for in these games is fitness, communication, and how much the players look like they know what they're doing. Think we're doing fine at all three. Results don't really matter as long as it's nothing too bad. Strong enough Norwich side as well. Ward seems a lot fitter, and Colwill looks like a great addition
