Be interesting to know if anyone has any ex players/managers they'd like to see interviewed?
Currently preparing for the 40th Heritage Project interview, which if it comes off, should be of interest. A real Town legend.
Just wish the club would put them on the website...

Cards on the table, I don't know who you've already interviewed - I don't really follow these; and that's not a lack of interest in Town, or any reflection on your work on this - I just find that nostalgia ain't what it used to be. So if I mention people you've already interviewed, I'm sorry! - Peter Ndlovu - Steve Jenkins - Ben Thornley - Andy Morrison - Ben Chilwell Ex-managers - someone really, really needs to interrogate Steve Bruce over *those* novels. I'd also really like to read at least one of them, because I'm a glutton for punishment. Keep up the good work though, mate.

Grant Holt. A short term success story at Town, then the career in wrestling!

An absolute pleasure to interview Gerry Murphy this afternoon. It was only arranged last night so had little time to prepare, but was able to rely on the good old memory! Gerry was chuffed to be reminded of some of the good times during his 21 years at Town.

Five home games remaining, which means there's five interviews remaining.
There's a member of the 1973-74 youth team, a member of the 1969-70 Second Division winning side, a Young Gun who became an international, a member of the 2003-04 promotion team and a manager that got us to the play-offs before being harshly sacked.

Just found a video on YouTube of Town v Barnsley on 7th February 1981
That was the 28,901 crowd against them I attended as a 12 year old
It's under Barnsley football club videos

Four more interviews to go this season, with the next one being a 1969-70 promotion winner.
At this moment, I don't plan on continuing next season. I've got two more interviews in the can beyond this season but I don't know what's going to happen with those. Might have to launch a blog or a website just to get them out there.

Really hope you continue doing these. You're probably bored of a few of us saying this, but it seems like a natural career for you. Thanks mosher. I'd love to carry on, but I can't really justify the time, effort and money to do them, when only a select few people on here, my Facebook friends and Twitter followers, and people who pay their £3.50 on a matchday have access to them. It's a massive frustration of mine that while they are published in the programmes, they aren't particularly embraced or shared any further than that, despite being told that they would be. They're not even on the Heritage site, which is another massive frustration. Other Heritage Projects at other clubs are embraced much more, and they are more visible and prominent and do some really good work. I've also got some ideas I wanted to see through, a reunion with another prominent Town side, securing a gravestone for our very first manager who lies in an unmarked grave, writing the story of the 1974 youth team, getting players invited back to the club and other bits and bats, but I just think what's the point? I know it's a very select audience, most people aren't interested in history and that's fine, but I feel people should still have the option to see them. My main motivation for doing it was being sick of seeing the 100th interview with Darren Bullock talking about the Brentford shootout, but perhaps that's what fans want to read?

One from last season, but I don't think it's been shared much. I spoke to Frank McGrellis last year, he was a loanee in the early part of the 1978-79 season and had some good memories of those times at Leeds Road. It's perhaps the first time the Yorkshire Ripper has ever been referenced in a Town programme as well! I miss having four pages and about 800 more words to use!

Keith Ripley and Frank McGrellis are two players I never saw play for Town as their time with the club coincided with me moving to the States. I remember their names though whereas I’ve forgotten half the short term signings we had during Covid times! Not sure I’ve ever seen a picture of Keith Ripley?

I was in my last year of college 1978.79 and I almost certain that I never got to see Town at all that season. If you'd asked me I wouldn't have ever named either McGrellis or Ripley as having represented Town.

I've searched high and low for one and never managed to find one. I struggled to find any of McGrellis in a Town shirt, but have recently managed that.

Les Chapman's interview has now been written up for inclusion in the Coventry City programme next Friday.
Since I spoke with Les, and due to the recent deaths of Colin Dobson, Bobby Hoy and Steve Smith, I've decided to try and speak to every surviving member of that 1969-70 team while it's possible to do so.
Aside from 'Chappy', Terry Poole, Dennis Clarke, Geoff Hutt, Jimmy Nicholson, Roy Ellam, Brian Greenhalgh, Jimmy Lawson and Dick Krzywicki are still with us. I spoke to Dennis Clarke on Tuesday evening and Sean O'Toole (of Smile Awhile fanzine) interviewed Roy Ellam last season, so that just leaves Poole, Hutt, Nicholson, Greenhalgh and Krzywicki to speak to.
My main aim is to get the surviving members of that team to a game next season to mark the 55th anniversary of that successful season. While there's a lot of Town fans that grew up watching that side, I feel that the 1969-70 team doesn't get mentioned much these days in comparison to the 1979-80 side.
I have similar aims for the 1982-83 side, but one thing at a time, eh?
