This is weird. I was only saying to my Son's on Sunday that we hadn't had his walk yet

I’ll be coming up for that game but I’m going to be committed with family stuff …. I never met Oti but when all about him collapsed to the herd I always loved his stuff. Good man was Oti. Big character.
So, I will be thinking of him that day. RIP Otium.

A fitting tribute for a very clever , witty , and sometimes slightly controversial guy . I knew him to speak to years ago ,(the cowshed , terrace , open end days), and seen him around since at the odd match home and away . He definitely spoke his mind , whereas some would just nod their head and go along with something they didn't actually agree with . His unbelievable stories on here , which were probably 99% true (I know someone who has been his closest friend most of his life) have kept me amused , and I've said in the past , a book or even a movie about his life wouldn't go a miss . "The secret Life of Otium" , never mind Walter Mitty.. He's definitely missed on downatthemac , I think most would agree . I'll be waiting in the square 1.30 Saturday in his memory.

Yeah I miss his contribution on DATM as I think the majority do. Especially wish I could row with him about Billing again, baring in mind how well he's doing back in the PL again this season and getting in the Denmark squad regularly.

A big regret of mine that I returned here too late to say my goodbyes to Oti. His passing has left a huge hole here.
We're all just passing through. Many don't realise that until it's too late. That's why you've got to live to the fullest, practice kindness and honesty and nobody can say Ron didn't do that.

Never knew him, personally, but shared a lot of personal messages with him when my mum was passing due to cancer and he was dealing with his own health.
Top bloke, and I say that with 100% conviction, despite having never met him.

I never met him, but we exchanged a lot of private messages. He offered me so much support - both emotionally and offers of tickets/travel, etc - but, alas, never that betting formula he said guaranteed a massive return each year!
But it was just all give with him. He knew there was nothing coming back his way (except for a Racing Post I once posted to Poland!) but he didn't think in those give/receive terms. He just wanted to help. I won't be able to make it on Saturday, but I wish you a wonderful day and, not for the first time, I'll raise a glass to Otium.

I have a mate from Rochdale who was living in London at the time and he'd been to a do and he'd met Guillem Ballague (spelling?)
Anyway, Ballague had told him to keep an eye on Luis Suarez moving from Liverpool to Barcelona that summer.
Friend told me and I in turn mentioned it here on DATM. Lo and behold about 4 weeks later Suarez got his move to Barca.
And I got a PM from Ron thanking me for the tip but a bit disappointed he'd only put 20 quid on it. I think he still made a few hundred quid though and he said he owed me a drink or two. Unfortunately we never did have that pint.

This Saturday we will be marching down to the town ground in memory of our good friend Aaron Kitchen Please come and join us, it would be lovely to see all his friends come together xx As many of you know Neil and Julie are planning on a Memorial Day for our dear friend Aaron (Ron -Ronny) Kitchen. So many of Aaron's family and friends are wanting to come together to remember and celebrate the incredible life he had. Neil and Julie have planned the day below and you are very much invited to join us. Aaron Kitchen's Memorial Walk will take place on Saturday 29th October before Huddersfield Town v Millwall. We will be fund-raising on behalf of Pancreatic Cancer Research UK during the day with collection boxes and a raffle. The main meeting point is Williams Bar [Adjoining St Georges Square outside Huddersfield Railway Station opposite the old George Hotel] which will be open from 12 noon then onto the Harold Wilson Statue in St Georges Square at 13:30, we will have a guest speaker who is a great friend of Aaron Kitchen giving a speech before the walk begins at 13:45 SHARP. For early arrivals drinks between 1100-1200 The Head of Steam (on the Station) will be open for all. Most will want to attend the match after the walk, but all have option of attending St Georges Square only, walking part or all the way to the Stadium, but not attending the match, all options are open to you. Dresswear will be relaxed, as Aaron Kitchen would have liked, Town scarves, Ronny Golf tour shirts, lively & colourful! We will convene after the match at Williams Bar, we know many will need to set off for their journey home but those that want to join us, we will have a few last drinks to our dear friend. We all look forward to meeting together, see you there. Neil & Julie Donation to pancreatic cancer in memory of Aaron can be made following the link below togetherinmemory.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/Event/Memorial-Day-

I’m up for the Millwall game on Saturday but unfortunately I won’t be able to take part in the walk down to the ground. I think I’d already posted on here previously that I’d shared a few PM’s with Ron over the years. All very cordial on both sides, he’s someone I wish I’d have met in real life, I’m sure we’d have had a lot to talk about. All the best to everyone involved with this on Saturday.

Hope it goes well, I never met Ron - although he did rock up at one of Baileys fund raising events many years ago, with a lovely looking lass on his arm. Always asked after her and even in the months prior to his passing, he asked if Bailey would like to attend a game courtesy of his hospitality.
Obviously had quite a lot of communication with him on here over the years, and latterly on the other forum we set up so he could keep on posting and discussing the subjects he loved.
Everybody should have a bit of Otium about them, question the common narrative, stand up for your own views etc.

Oh, and I'm sure there's nothing he'd have loved more than to see a bit of argy bargy with a few Millwall fans, even in his abscence.

I hope today is a true celebration of his life and personality. I’ll be raising a glass from afar.

I loved his contribution to DATM and admit I shared all his views bar Phil Billing .
Otium was a wise man .
To all his pals that sponsored todays game , nice one you did your mate proud and myself and many around me stood and applauded you all 👏👏👏
