I didn’t know Aaron personally but I’m sure our paths crossed following Town. I loved his contribution to DATM and admit I shared all his views bar Phil Billing . Otium was a wise man . To all his pals that sponsored todays game , nice one you did your mate proud and myself and many around me stood and applauded you all 👏👏👏 "I shared all his views...." I don't think that's something you should be particularly proud about to be honest! That's your opinion , it's obviously not everyones.

He didnt have any views which were 'wrong' to have, even if I didnt agree with him on something. the opinion they cruelly banned him from DATM for as he was dying was a very mainstream view held by the vast majority of the world's population I would think.
What he mainly did was give opinions that some just didnt want to hear... and he didnt give a shit that they didnt want to hear it. And most of the time he was bang on. Thats why I liked his contribution so much.

He was a realist who for some spoke unpalatable truths, but reality isnt fashionable.

I know one of Otium's good friends, and the funny thing is, a lot of the outlandish stories he came out with were true!
Nice fella was Ron.

Definitely sounds like his sister. Both Ron, or Aaron as I knew him, and his sister were in the same year as me at Colne Valley High School. Unless my memory is playing up (which it could be at my age now 🤣), they were just brother and sister and not twins.

I don't really care if the stories were true, half true or a load of poppycock, it was good fun reading them.
The forum is a worse place without him.
Can anybody unearth the thread we had on here where all of Otiums claims were put together?
Probably have to go back to about 2012. I think it was around the time he grossly underestimated Team GB's medal performance in the London Olympics.

My personal favourite was when he took a minibus trip down to Italia 90 with Fours, Benson and that crowd. No plane of shame for Oti as he ended up at a drinks party at the police commissioners residence!

A great , intelligent poster and DATM is much worse without his input. His put downs were legendary. Every time I see Billing playing on Match of the Day I think of Oti though!

Didn't know him personally, but this place is definitely the poorer without him. I never doubted any of his stories, maybe I'm gullible, but i genuinely never understand anyones reasoning behind saying you've done something you haven't, or even cheated on it. The only person you're cheating is yourself. Having done 56 miles around the N.York moors on foot in under 24 hours and seen folks hide a bike in the forest, numerous marathons where folk take a short cut, the whole objective defeats me. I always assume Oti was of exactly the same frame of mind, and anything I've ever done equates to a dripping sarnie, compared to his caviar. He was a great blamer of the 60s generation for the destruction of society as he saw it, grammar schools, buildings, permissiveness, well you name it. I once pointed out to him on here, and he saw my point, that it was perfect nonsense to blame the 60s generation for such things. It was the war generation, that wanted to start again, and decided to knock down buildings and build crap. How can MacMillan, Wilson, Heath or Callaghan possibly be called 60s generation. I was born in 52, and had no say whatsoever in any of the decisions made in the 60s.....too busy latterly getting pissed. So next time bloody "Littlejohn" in the D.M. rag starts spouting the same shit, just know that's exactly what it is. Sorry, got off topic, but Oti was a guy you could completely have a conversation with about such stuff, and if I never changed his mind, at least he acknowledged the view.
