Just been on sky sports news that we’re in talks in resigning Kasey Palmer from Bristol City. He would be a decent signing and bring something different to our midfield that we’ve not got at the moment. It’s not worked out for him at Bristol but should fit in well with our style of play and system.

Hope so, but wasn’t he a bit fragile like glass last time he played for us?

I think this needs to be on the Transfer Board......but cheers for posting I know that this comes up every transfer window, but why on Earth do we need a whole different board to discuss them, it’s not as if it’s not important, should be here like before. Seems a bit too OCD to have it separate.

Hope he joins, knows the club, and Carlos will make him into a better player. Wonder what other x Town players we are eyeing.

It’s not a thread about politics or some other bollox, it’s a core part of our daily discussions. It could be a pinned thread in the main forum. When I become President of DATM 😉 it’ll be my first Executive Order, none of this namby-pamby democratic nonsense!

isn't he a bit injury prone? Have no idea if there is any truth in this but as for injury prone yes he has had a few injurys but on football ability and a player who can see a pass he is a good player that I have no doubts but like all these things if we sign him they will tell us

Always preferred Palmer over Brown (think I was the minority) but Kasey always seemed more of a complete player than Brown, where it always seemed to be "in there somewhere" but rarely showed. Can't recall KP being injury prone, think that was Izzy Brown.

Frozen out at Bristol and they will need him shifting for FFP reasons so I’d imagine he is available fairly cheap, potential for a bargain if he can get playing to his best, he’s on big money there though.

We do seem to have some fixation on re-signing old players.
It is a no from me just to break our lazy habit of looking for old players rather than scouting for good young prospects.

He was a serious player at this level last time he was with us. No idea about his current ability but if you're confident on keeping him fit then it's a no brainer.

From a quick search for news on him I found this from Bristol Live:-
It's fascinating in itself that for a player with just 30 Championship starts to his name at the club, interest in Kasey Palmer's potential departure from Bristol City is so strong.
Three straight managers have been unable to accommodate nor harness his obvious talent and he's been perennially on the periphery of the starting XI throughout his two-and-half years, three if you count the loan, at Ashton Gate.
However, the reason beyond the divisive debate that his presence has continually caused - his lack of game time was a stick used repeatedly to beat Lee Johnson with - is because of the potential ramifications for this squad should a deal be struck with QPR, or anyone else, this month.
Palmer is among the higher earners at City and moving him on, whether for a minimal fee or simply for nothing, represents smart business given how he doesn't appear to be among Nigel Pearson's plans, and now has two teenagers ahead of him for that central attacking midfield role.
With 18 months remaining on his contract, the Robins are effectively clearing an estimated £1.2m from a wage bill that has expanded the wrong side of £30m and urgently needs to be deflated.
It also, of course, theoretically opens up some financial room to manoeuvre for Pearson to bring in any reinforcements he so desire, with a central striker the obvious candidate and still lingering from the summer in which he was unable to add another attacker, for various reasons.
----------------------------------------------------------------- If he is on £1.2M a year I can't see him fitting in to Towns wage structure, Unless he his wanting to resurrect his career. From the above clipping it appears that there are other suiters (QPR) and that the rumours are strong about him departing. If three managers have failed to get his abilities to shine at Bristol what are our chances of resurrecting him promise from his last stint with us.
I heard that he never fully recovered from his injury with Town, but no idea if this is true or not.

I was a massive fan of Kasey in that promotion season. He was probably my favourite player in the team. Always looking for the ball, able to take it in tight spaces and glide away from the opposition player and an eye for goal.
He always came across well in interviews, always seemed like a really down to earth young lad.
Personally, I'd love to have him back, I think he'd bring some real quality to the squad

isn't he a bit injury prone? Yes, I posted as much on the ‘injury prone players’ sub-board… 😏 Where are these significant injuries I keep hearing about with KP? Over the previous 3 seasons he's played 100 games. This season he's played 7 games but that's due to him being frozen out rather than injuries.

The rumour makes sense, we are in need of a player who can pick a pass from midfield. Kasey is 25 now, hopefully he sees this as a bit of 'career is getting on now, I need to make this move work' and he really knuckles down. No doubting his quality, think Wagner had doubts over his effort in training during that 1st Prem season.
Reminder of KP's highlights from the first half of the promotion season:

I'm sure the people who do the medicals at Bristol city will have done thorough tests on him before they paid £3.5m for him afew seasons back.
