By the way I realise I've completely put the mockers on this signing by posting a highlights video and Palmer will inevitably sign for QPR in 5 minutes.

Considering Bristol are looking to get him off the books and he has a big wage there, I'd take him provided:
- he fits into the wage structure properly, and if that means a pay cut for him then he takes it - he trains harder than he did last time- Wagner alluded to that being a problem in his 2nd season and the reason he left
I am not sure anyone would be particularly excited had he not played for us before. He was great in his first season but there must be better players with less question marks about them. If he's not impressed three managers in a row I suspect that's his problem rather than theirs.
edit: if we're after an attacking mid for depth, we should go for Yan Dhanda at Swansea- younger, 6 months left on his contract, shown potential but not got much of a look in this season. should be able to get him for very little

Tore us apart in the first half at Ashton Gate last season. Assisted both goals with smart play.

This and other things have certainly upped the interest on the forum today. First time I've seen more viewing "Transfer Rumours" than "General" in a long time!

Where are these significant injuries I keep hearing about with KP? Over the previous 3 seasons he's played 100 games. This season he's played 7 games but that's due to him being frozen out rather than injuries. In the last 5 seasons he’s played over 100 games. Personally it’s a no from me In the 3 seasons prior to this one, Danny Ward played 69 times. In the 3 seasons prior to this one, Kasey Palmer played 100 times. Dan's doing pretty well this season.....With Kasey playing in 40% more games over the last 3 season, I recon he do ok

The rumour makes sense, we are in need of a player who can pick a pass from midfield. Kasey is 25 now, hopefully he sees this as a bit of 'career is getting on now, I need to make this move work' and he really knuckles down. No doubting his quality, think Wagner had doubts over his effort in training during that 1st Prem season. Reminder of KP's highlights from the first half of the promotion season: Maybe there’s an omen here, that clip finishing off with £5 tickets for the Blackburn game… 🤔

Pretty torn on this he was one of my favourite players first time around but he just hasn’t done anything of note since leaving.

Here’s one for you, maybe when we got him on loan first the first season, he genuinely believed that he was playing to prove he could play higher than the championship. Whether that be at Chelsea or another top club? And once it was clear he wouldn’t make it at Chelsea his head was on other things like being a father.
If he’s serious about wanting to save his career I’d have him, if he’s happier being close to family etc then London and QPR makes sense to me

whooooooaahah, don't start that conversation again....i believe that the decision is not going to be reversed so we will need to put up with two boards.......however, as per someone else pointed out, best strategy is to just look at the 'recent Threads' tab as that has the most up-to-date threads regardless of topic.... If we're all having to resort to viewing the site as one big board via 'recent threads', what's the point of curating a separate transfers board?! Well, it's looking at two curated boards then, instead of - the best option in my opinion - just having the transfer board gone and back in with the main town board

I'd be quite open to seeing him in a Town shirt again, but I'm struggling to imagine us being prepared to pay him anywhere near the £20k per week he will be expecting.
Rumours of our supposed interest could be convenient for Bristol City as they try to extract as much as they can from QPR...

From a quick search for news on him I found this from Bristol Live:- It's fascinating in itself that for a player with just 30 Championship starts to his name at the club, interest in Kasey Palmer's potential departure from Bristol City is so strong. Three straight managers have been unable to accommodate nor harness his obvious talent and he's been perennially on the periphery of the starting XI throughout his two-and-half years, three if you count the loan, at Ashton Gate. However, the reason beyond the divisive debate that his presence has continually caused - his lack of game time was a stick used repeatedly to beat Lee Johnson with - is because of the potential ramifications for this squad should a deal be struck with QPR, or anyone else, this month. Palmer is among the higher earners at City and moving him on, whether for a minimal fee or simply for nothing, represents smart business given how he doesn't appear to be among Nigel Pearson's plans, and now has two teenagers ahead of him for that central attacking midfield role. With 18 months remaining on his contract, the Robins are effectively clearing an estimated £1.2m from a wage bill that has expanded the wrong side of £30m and urgently needs to be deflated. It also, of course, theoretically opens up some financial room to manoeuvre for Pearson to bring in any reinforcements he so desire, with a central striker the obvious candidate and still lingering from the summer in which he was unable to add another attacker, for various reasons. ----------------------------------------------------------------- If he is on £1.2M a year I can't see him fitting in to Towns wage structure, Unless he his wanting to resurrect his career. From the above clipping it appears that there are other suiters (QPR) and that the rumours are strong about him departing. If three managers have failed to get his abilities to shine at Bristol what are our chances of resurrecting him promise from his last stint with us. I heard that he never fully recovered from his injury with Town, but no idea if this is true or not. If true not in a million years I would want him back on 1.2 million a year. He has done nothing of note and cant get in a Bristol Team that arent exactly pulling up trees. They looked dreadful when we played them. I like the lad, and anyone who was in our promotion winning team, will be remembered fondly, but come on. Taking off the rose tinted specs for a minute, we would be absolutely crackers to bring him here, unless both Bristol and Palmer himself have a few knocks to the head and they let him go for free, and Palmer takes a whopping drop in wages to come back.

This season, as terriersyndrome states, frozen out - played 7, 1 goal 1 assist. Still young, clearly capable of playing a decent number of games. Very talented, maybe he just needs a club to show him some love.

I suspect, if the rumour is indeed true, that it will be a loan with a view of a permanent move at the end of the season.

his rumoured Bristol City salary is 20k per week, which would make him our top earner if we matched it. Biggest stumbling block really.

He was a player for us, never came across as having an attitude or ego so you have to question whether injuries have taken their toll as to why he isn’t getting games.
I’d have him back in a heartbeat if we can get any sort of previous form out of him.
I seem to remember we were keen to sign him once promoted, weren’t we? Recall Chelsea wanting ridiculous money, could be a bargain.

One thing is for certain, if the guy currently in charge wanted to make a statement and win fans over, this might be a strategy to employ - what is likely to be a 7 figure fee, a big wage, 25 year old creative midfielder....
If it happens it would be a statement of intent when compared to previous recent windows.

If Bristol want him off the wage bill then it’ll be a reduced fee I’m guessing, town could then offset his £20K wages with a big signing on fee and low transfer fee. Win win for both clubs and Palmer.

I really liked Kasey, but if at age 25 he is deemed to be not good enough for Bristol City it suggests to me that he hasn't developed as well as he should have.
I expected him to be playing in the PL by now, so unless his wage demands are reasonable it has to be a no from me.

Just been on sky sports news that we’re in talks in resigning Kasey Palmer from Bristol City. He would be a decent signing and bring something different to our midfield that we’ve not got at the moment. It’s not worked out for him at Bristol but should fit in well with our style of play and system. Sky say we are interested in palmer not that we are in talks there is a difference

Sky say we are interested in palmer not that we are in talks there is a difference The lad in the studio said that we’re in talks along with QPR to sign him. They say different on the website, which came out later: Huddersfield enter race for Kasey Palmer Huddersfield have expressed an interest in bringing Kasey Palmer back whilst a host of Championship clubs remain interested.
Bristol City and QPR continue in talks and expect things to develop at the end of the week.
QPR interest remains ongoing and remain favourites.
A number of loan proposals have been declined by City as the player will only leave permanently in this window.www.skysports.com/transfer-centre
