I can only remember us winning 4-3 away from home in the league once before today - at Exeter, the last time we won automatic promotion, a Saturday in January as well. Lillis, Wilson, Stanton and Cowling. We might have won others and, of course, there are a few at home. This is clearly an omen; we should bet like men on automatic! I was at that match. I think we beat them 4 1 away the year before.

Just seen we've played the most games in the league. While there are many teams that could go above with their games in hand, I wont complain when everyone else has extra midweek games and we can rest. Reading seemed tired for the last third of the match and they played midweek. This could really benefit us for that reason and in theory should get less injuries. Agree with this. We may slip a bit when games are caught up, but the fact we have picked points up in all of them and those behind us cant win all their games in hand as they will be against each other can only be in our favour. Take Stoke, away at Coventry tuesday night before playing us on Friday, while we have a week off.

Couple of thoughts (and I've had a drink - five berry frozen daiquiri, if you're interested - so apologies: 1. Wasn't today an exercise in seeing if we can play 4231 and giving more attacking options? If so surely Turton for Pipa and Colwill/Sarr and Lees/Pearson? I reckon Turton has done OK this season and I think as a more traditional RB he'd do a lot better than being asked to sub in for Sorba 2. If Dean Hoyle is to respond to the challenge to players to give him a problem who would you get that's better than what we've got? Keeper is absolutely sorted. Full backs/wing backs. Pretty much sorted. Like to see more of Ruffles. Toff and Sorba amazing. Pipa has flashes. Turton alright. Centre halves - have bad days, but perm 3/2 from 4 and we're OK CM - Hogg is back and that's important. LOB having his best season. High did really well bar a goal in his cameo for Hogg. Vallejo to come back and always looked mint. Russell is a unit and really good on the ball. Attackers - we now have a ten goal a season striker (bar penalties) when did we have that last? We also have a fit and hungry looking Jordan Rhodes on the bench, Rowe pressing for a recall, and a fairly settled two of four in Holmes, Koroma, Thomas and Sinani. With Aarons somewhere and Grant to play.
So where, if you're Dean, do you spunk the cash? In January when it's hard to get value?

Just a small collection of posts on the Danny Ward thread when he was about to sign. No names. Crikey. Has he packed in the cigs?
Decent signing if true. Almost as many goals as Grant in less minutes and no penalties amongst them I think our expectations have been lowered to the extent that he'll be welcomed back.
Thought we weren't going for square pegs in round holes anymore. Danny Ward seems to be a bit of a dodecahedron.
Yeh I’d say as a stand alone signing it’s not one to get massively excited about however if we brought in 2/3 even 4 of that standard/experience I’d expect it to improve the squad/team a fair bit so like I think someone has says it a decent start
I'd rather fat Dan than a keeper that only stops pens and nowt else
He’s terrible
Id rather sign Danny Ward the keeper and play him upfront than the sticky out chest, fat , poncey haired one
He is a hell of alot better player than some of the shite we have been carrying for the last 1 to 2 seasons! We are struggling to give some of those chancers away.
Absolutely. Two years ago nobody would have thought getting fat knacker back would even be on the cards.
Hope I'm proven wrong - I thought he was poor the first time round. We'll see.
Relegation threatened side signing a player who was an integral part of a team that made the Championship play offs this season and also featured in the EPL the season before. I'd call that progress !
Is Danny Ward better than Ramadan Sobhi? Answer: yes. Is Danny Ward better than Isaac Mbenza? Answer: yes. Is Danny Ward better than Adama Dhiakaby? Answer: yes. Is Danny Ward better than Colling Quaner? Answer: yes. Is Danny Ward better than the current Elias Kachunga? Answer: yes. Is Danny Ward better than Alex Pritchard? Answer: yes. Is Danny Ward better than Josh Koroma? Answer:yes. Is Danny Ward better than Aaron Rowe? Answer: yes. Is Danny Ward better than Reece Brown? Answer: yes. In my humble opinion, of course 😐In reply to the above: Think you may need to recalibrate your expectation level, good signing imo.
Happy with that. He's definitely a better player than the one who left us and an improvement over what we had last season
The maddest thing is, Danny Ward is the last player to score a hat trick for HuddersfieldOK… I’ll own up to this one! First impressions if this is true are - pretty uninspiring. I always remember that shot at Old Trafford that shaved the bar. But... having had a think, this might be quite a useful acquisition. He wants to move closer to home, so hopefully he'll feel more settled. He won't command a transfer fee (?). And I can't believe he's still only 28. He may not be a starter in every game, but handy player to have around.
I know I'm a massive tool Because of my obsession with Liverpool But crikey I've managed to contribute to a thread That isn't about my beloved boys in red So anyway, back to Danny Ward I think this criticism is untoward I know the club lack ambition But who knows, this signing may come to fruition
You lot still wanking over this signing? Read this thread again. Apart from the happy clappers everyone knew Grant was leaving last minute and Ward was our only striker coming in, not a “squad player”
Just been looking at some of his goals over the last few seasons. He can shoot with his right and his left is a thunderbolt. You'd expect him to get 15 goals this season if he starts most games. The reply: How’d you get this? 1. He’s never scored more than 12 in a season (double figures twice) 2. He’s never fit enough to start enough games
… and the reply to this: Correct.. He's played roughly the same amount of games so far as I expected. To put so many eggs in this fragile basket seems bonkers to my uneducated eye
Iwan Roberts seems to rate him as a striker www.htafc.com/news/2020/august/iwan-roberts-reveals-all-about-danny-ward/So do most Town fans after today! I'm guessing the one about rather having this Danny Ward than the keeper was me. Looks like I was right for a change 😁

If we want to continue this good run and have a tilt at the playoffs, we definitely need a back up keeper. I’d also argue we need another creative midfielder in the ilk of a Jamie Paterson to scare the opposition. Other than that I agree, don’t think we need much

We've already won as many games as we did in the whole of last season. Considering we didn't pay a transfer fee in the summer that's one hell of a turnaround. Leigh Bromby and Josh Marsh - take a bow lads!

Who scored the last hattrick before today, was it Danny Ward against Watford. I was thinking there surely was one in the promotion season, then I remembered we only scored 3 goals once Brighton, Norwich at Home.

Brilliant result Well done fellas Wardy is looking so sharp and confident. Lees has been a little poor recently however we are 9 unbeaten and I for one am not moaning at all 😁 Koroma is of major interest due to his contract situation however Dean is playing hard ball 👍🏼 but if someone offered us 3million for him and we got Scott twine for 1.5 million I'd take it in a heartbeat. Is Lee Nicholls banned after that yellow card? P.S Them 2 on radio Berkshire are absolutely horrendous. Especially the main guy who's still adament our 3rd goal was a foul by Pearson😂😂 Lee Nicholls isn't banned, you now need 10 yellows before match 37 to get a ban.

Fantastic to grab 3 points on the road and keep this run going since that win at Brissle 18 Dec.
I think Koroma might go, its good profit at anything £2m ++ and he's been kind of found out this season with only a right foot trying the same far post curler, physically well under par today and struggling to get going. We have lots of youth unproven in the wings Grant, Harratt and Philips we cant surely keep all them happy come the summer.
Patterson would be an excellent signing to bolster our offensive play from midfield, knows the club and scores goals, useful set piece player.
Sinani is doing well, scoring goals now but always seems to get hooked as he disappears a bit as the games wear on, he's a young lad still - will be interesting to see if Norwich are open to offers in May if he wanted to stay.
Thomas still learning his trade needs more consistency and work on better corner delivery but for his first full season he'd be player of the season if it wasnt for I'll take as long as I want with my goal kicks Nicholls - has surely given the back 3/4/5 plenty of confidence when called upon.
