I’ve just worked out that we’re just going to miss out on the 100 point season…
Shame… 😉

Wasn’t that long ago that if we went a goal behind, it was all over. Hanging in and around the play offs and only 5 points off second place. Yes, other teams have got games in hand but hands would have been snapped off for this at the start of the season! And well done Danny - just reward for all his hard work.

Couple of thoughts (and I've had a drink - five berry frozen daiquiri, if you're interested - so apologies: 1. Wasn't today an exercise in seeing if we can play 4231 and giving more attacking options? If so surely Turton for Pipa and Colwill/Sarr and Lees/Pearson? I reckon Turton has done OK this season and I think as a more traditional RB he'd do a lot better than being asked to sub in for Sorba 2. If Dean Hoyle is to respond to the challenge to players to give him a problem who would you get that's better than what we've got? Keeper is absolutely sorted. Full backs/wing backs. Pretty much sorted. Like to see more of Ruffles. Toff and Sorba amazing. Pipa has flashes. Turton alright. Centre halves - have bad days, but perm 3/2 from 4 and we're OK CM - Hogg is back and that's important. LOB having his best season. High did really well bar a goal in his cameo for Hogg. Vallejo to come back and always looked mint. Russell is a unit and really good on the ball. Attackers - we now have a ten goal a season striker (bar penalties) when did we have that last? We also have a fit and hungry looking Jordan Rhodes on the bench, Rowe pressing for a recall, and a fairly settled two of four in Holmes, Koroma, Thomas and Sinani. With Aarons somewhere and Grant to play.
So where, if you're Dean, do you spunk the cash? In January when it's hard to get value?

Just seen the goals, comedy defending from both sides but Ward's 3rd goal was a cracking strike.

Whoever kidnapped Danny Ward and stuck themselves upfront in his shirt is doing a decent job All credit to him, never in a million years would I have expected double figures from him! Long may it continue

All credit to him, never in a million years would I have expected double figures from him! Long may it continue 3 more for his best return in a season He sounded very confident on Radio Beeston, this evening, when he talked about scoring 20, wouldn't that be a massive achievement for him. He looks fit & full of ambition, well done Danny Ward - UTT.

This may not be correct, but could it be that the last time we were involved in a game with 6 goals by half-time, Barnsley scored all of them? Sounds about right. Wasn't fun on the following Monday given my Science teacher was a Barnsley fan......

I do hope that’s tongue in cheek Ted! Absolutely not .. do you really think we look a play off quality team ? Not a chance .. but its a mad season and we keep winning so who knows where it could take us . Massive credit to Carlos and the players for their mentality What a great day out but couldn’t agree more with this sober assessment of Town.

I was at that match. I think we beat them 4 1 away the year before. Was ther Jan 1983 and seem to remember us being joined in the open end by a bus load of York City supporters who must have been playing Torquay in a same day evening kick off.

Certainly not boring or negative starting today then…
13 shots after 25 minutes - thought it was a typo!
Didn’t see or listen to the game to comment on the first half chaos but not sure if I’m more surprised we scored 4 or conceded 3..
Well done to Danny Ward - he’s looked sharper gradually over time and had a thankless task at times but put the work in, good on him

Seen at least three Twitter accounts (including the official Town one) post that Wardy's hat-trick was the first Town hat-trick since his one at Watford in 13/14, so tell me this... am I mad in thinking Nahki got a hat-trick at Chesterfield in the cup the following season?

I bet you are great company on a night out Westie. We’ll all have to meet up at Wembley in May! Och Aye... I definitely enjoy the old nights out overton - and nowhere more so than dear old Huddersfield... All being well do it for The Luton Town match in April 2022 ! Wembley is a dream... thought about it in 2017 but ended up not going, then I took bloody stage fright on the match day - too nervous to watch and took ma motor a spin to do a big beach walk (Kilchoman Beach) that between driving to and walking would’ve took 90 minutes - only for the weather here on 29-05-2017 to be driving rain in a bloody gale so onto Plan B... And so, it’s drive very slowly round single track back roads (with the mobi off) and phone a trusted buddy at 5pm for the final score - he tells me 0-0 and extra time... cue more 15mph speed on outback roads to kill time - this time at Killinallen (6pm) I switch on the mobi... and - no bloody signal ! Oh jeez... start driving back and at 6.08pm (how could I ever forget the time) Vodafone hotspot once more and 14 text pings - I just knew we had won and on penalties ! - A very warm glow driving home... a big glass or three of ma finest Islay malt, replies to every text and then the pub and the pub and the next pub for the whole week... Ah these joys that Huddersfield Town give it’s folks !

I agree, Danny ward has been working hard all season , earlier on he was just not getting the breaks , although working tirelessly. I am really pleased for him and this Town squad , we seem on the cusp of something remarkable this season (I did not expect us to be in the play off positions in January) I have posted on other threads that we could cement our position in the league if we strengthen this January , I am not trying to criticise our current team , far from it , and well done Town and CC for a truly fantastic result yesterday .UTT.

Pipa is going to be an important player for us these next few months. His driving run to commit players for the first goal yesterday is something we’ve been missing.

Just caught up in this thread - really impressed by Danny The Goal Machine Ward again. Strangely, I was going to post that we will not, sadly, make the playoffs. However.... I did take a cheeky shuftie at when the play off final is due to be played. (Sunday, 29th May )

Couldn’t watch last night, 2am ko and I had to be up at 5am for work, but when I woke I wasn’t surprised at the score when I saw the lineup. Super attacking and that’s how this team plays best, when they are on the front foot.
Get in Danny Ward, proving plenty wrong, so much so our focus is wanting a midfielder to drive towards promotion, not a striker.
UTT.

We don't look promotion quality at all and anybody who thinks we do needs to give their heads a shake. What I would say though is that the results these plucky terriers are producing are nothing short of remarkable and the manager and players deserve all the praise for that. It would be nice if for once Dean lived up to his comments and brought in some quality reinforcements to bolster a promotion push. The manager and players have done their bit by giving him a headache, now over to you. A decent couple of midfielders extra and who knows where this side can take us. Don't give a toss about promotion. Weird...thats just weird, why do you bother?
