He did and my Games Teacher at school was Gerry Quinn, (also former manager of Emley FC) cousin of the Galvins and was always in awe when he got FA Cup Final Tickets when Spurs were there. Gerry is still watching Town week in week out. A regular on the Marsh Lib Fun Bus (or train if necessary) to many away games(drinking sessions). I respect his football opinion above most of the folk I know. (gledholt terrier notwithstanding 😜) Know quite a few MarshLib regulars, we still meet up for the occasional lads reunions and birthdays.

All this talk about Mitre Sports. Barkers Sports shop opposite the ABC and Suggs Sport in the Pack Horse. Proper sports shops not this tat you get at Mike Ashley’s place. Only thinking about Sugg Sports the other day 😁 Barkers and Suggs on a Saturday morning to see if they got any new Subbuteo teams in. One day I got lucky in Barkers and got Peru. My bro got some floodlights but we couldn't use them for weeks as we didn't have enough money for the square batteries

I saved up for weeks and finally got Brazil. Do you recall the Subbuteo tournament at Kayes department store?

Golcar Hammy’s mother was on the team that invented Space Special. His father used to do all the sign-writing for the advertising boards for both Leeds Road and the John Smiths, and he also looked after the match officials on game day too. Well she did a belting job because them 12p bottles of it were bloody ace. Space Special: So good it even made art smile!

For the life of me I can't remember what Space Special tasted like.
I remember it being a disconcerting shade of green and that I loved it - bit unlike most other food and drink that I had at that time I can't for the life of me remember what it tasted like.

Playing Football every daylight hour in the School Holidays, never giving a thought to TV or anything else, pre-Internet of course. 2 Misses leading to a Goal Kick and In Goals was our game of choice recreating TV Commentators of the day and we had the benefit of living close to a few Secondary Schools so took full advantage of their pitch and goals. Very rarely we got the ultimate where the School had left their Goal Nets up overnight and that was always a golden session! When we had more numbers, ‘English’ was the game, where you could only score via Header or Volley. That progressed to a more brutal version ‘Docker English’ at Secondary School early 80’s when the guy in goals when the end of Break / Dinnertime Bell went was deemed the loser and took a right kicking from all the other participants! Used to avoid any shooting near the end of Playtime so as not to put yourself in with a chance of being the ultimate loser. Summer automatically Tennis and Cricket took the main stage, playing Tennis on local hired Park Courts. Tunnel of Death when you lost was always fun.

"Goalie wen" - or sticking the fat lad in goal as he was crap at football and not letting the lasses play "cos they were crap and they smelt" - that was until about 15 when you always wanted Big Nora in goal as her chest expanse was a fascination.

The two captains picking teams by calling out kids names from a line alternately.

Once you hit the deck it was a free for all. Or another twat closing the end!

So, who is sapphireblue who knows the Town reprobates from the Marsh Lib? A non-reprobate from the Marsh Lib, formally a non-reprobate from the Marsh House. Or is that an oxymoron?

I’m old mates with NB and JS and know quite a few others in there. With regret, I also know and like the Leeds lads who sometimes frequent your gentile club!

I used to do the occasional Friday, straight after work and keep going as long as I could. Decent mix of folk but could get feisty at times.
