Must have been after my time. I generally went in the few years either side of the millennium. Was it Happy Heads disco? That was v popular in there. My time in there was 90’s.

For the life of me I can't remember what Space Special tasted like. I remember it being a disconcerting shade of green and that I loved it - bit unlike most other food and drink that I had at that time I can't for the life of me remember what it tasted like. Tasted of space. & it was dead special... I may be wrong but I thought it was a bit like cream soda with added lime? It was ace though

Didnt someone get shot in there ? Yep. And ######, that had been shot, tried to get over the table to get at the guy that had just shot him. It was wild west towards the end. My main times in there were 1986-1999 when I lived on Westbourne Road. Only an occasional visitor after that.

Can't remember, might have been. (Edit: come to think of it I think it was.) Landlord was a curly haired bloke called Jimmy iirc. Mostly I just remember dancing on chairs and tables - invariably Mustang Sally by The Commitments was a favourite. Great days. Then a chap called Tim (Bale?) took over. Nice chap, but I'd started hanging round with a load of different mates who went to The Globe on Lindley (now Wireworks) and so I drifted away from Marsh House.

Know quite a few MarshLib regulars, we still meet up for the occasional lads reunions and birthdays. I know who manfromatlantis is ( and you will too). Don’t ever play one-on-one basketball with him! So, who is sapphireblue who knows the Town reprobates from the Marsh Lib? I think my basketball days are done now. The Good Shepherd would have been proud to have himself associated with such a great competition… 😁

A non-reprobate from the Marsh Lib, formally a non-reprobate from the Marsh House. Or is that an oxymoron? Nowt to do with football but The Marsh House was bloody brilliant on a bank holiday weekend. But it wasn't great when Leeds games were on the tele..........

Kits.
I’ve always been fascinated with them. In the 70’s they rarely changed ( before the multi million pound industry was spawned ) but I’d argue were the best. Simple and traditional and in many cases the away kits were as good as the home ones. Arsenal always yellow shirts, blue shorts. Liverpool always white shirts with red trim and black shorts.
Then along came Admiral who were absolutely brilliant and imaginative.
My favourite non Town kit of all time?
The England Admiral one.

Commentators using fantastic descriptive words, like bedraggled, when players were caked in mud and their barnets had taken a hammering from the monsoon rains…
Far better than the stat battle you hear from the modern commentators. Mind you, Motson might have started that trend?

The fact that you knew it was a working class game.
That home players drove themselves to the ground, that they always took coaches to away games (for the full journey)…

But it wasn't great when Leeds games were on the tele.......... I never went in to watch those. It was the best and worst time to socialise with Leeds fans. They were in the Prem, Europe even so never bothered much with us as they didn’t feel threatened. However, when the bubble burst, it was as funny as fuck.

Silk worn around wrist Really corny sew-on-patches on your denim jacket……..e.g. Playing Card in Team Colours ……. with cringey slogans e.g. Suchandsuch is King of Clubs…….Suchandsuch is Leader of the pack……….or a rabbit in a hat with Suchandsuch is Magic! ……..Must haves for any self respecting young fan back then assuming your Mum was nifty with a needle and thread or capable with an Iron. (or your Dad was a theatrical type) This also complimented the FA Cup Final cringey pun flags ‘Jesus Saves But Suchandsuch Scores The Rebound’ …..those from Merseyside were particularly guilty but they are of course witty scallys and salt of the earth. (Also reminded me of those Bible Basher Types outside Grounds with huge signs ‘The End Is Nigh’ )…..well 40 years on and still waiting……….😉
