Led to believe this is the team.. Nicholls Spencer REG Boyle Nakayama Camara Jackson Mahoney holmes Koroma Rhodes 🙄 Not too surprised by that. Koroma and Holmes probably need to play for fitness reasons due to the short pre-season, even though Schofield won't learn anything new about them. Nicholls needs to play as two or three of that defense could be playing in the next league game! The midfield shows how short we are in that area. As others have said, injuries permitting hopefully Grant, Diarra and Jones will get at least 30 minutes to show what they can do.

Nicholls Turton REG Boyle Ruffels Russell Camara Mahoney Holmes Grant Rhodes Subs: Chapman, Nakayama, Lees, Hogg, Anjorin, Rudoni, Ward Time to start separating the second team from the first team and seeing who can make the move in to the first XI. Take Ruffels out. Yuta needs some game time and a good chunk to get him up to speed. Ruffels has been playing and can sit on the bench for the next 44

Doing the same over and over again and expecting a different outcome is the sign of madness, although with our squad it's incredibly difficult to find midfield replacements.
Nicholls
Spencer REG Nakayama Jackson
Holmes Camara Rudoni
Grant Rhodes Mahoney

A boring 0 - 0 after extra time and lose 5 - 0 on penalties.

With the long winter break, there is no excuse for not playing our strongest team. They owe the supporters that much.
However, I am sure there are differences of opinion on what the strongest team is.

Can't see it being a massive crowd puller. 6.5/7k? I reckon more like 4-5

The cost of tickets, travel and food is almost £50 and I'd rather not spend that on watching the kids get spanked 😡 The fascination with getting crap, overpriced food at a football match has long baffled me. For a 3pm game I’d always have lunch (dinner!) before I go and dinner (tea!) after I get home. For an evening KO I’d have dinner (tea!) before I go. I understand that people travelling from afar have to eat, but knock up a picnic! You’ve got to eat anyway so I can’t fathom adding the cost onto the running total.

Bit of an unexpected thing to say, but Camara has to start. If he's our third choice midfielder while Kasumu's out, he needs to show what he can do. I would also give Koroma a start for a chance to settle down without as much pressure. Then Grant half an hour off the bench. Rowe should start at right back to see if he can handle being in a back 4

Koroma, unless something has changed, doesn't seem interested. He has been forced to stay in a way so I'd rather see him left out. Ideally sold and get someone else in.

Whatever the strongest XI is after hardly seeing each other all pre-season this fixture gifts us an opportunity to blood them. It would be foolish to not take it, hopefully chalk a win up & get our season started.

I am a fan that has to travel (not too far from you) to home games. If it's a 3pm KO then it's no issue - you have something decent to eat at 12ish and then you're good until well after the game. Night games are a little trickier - but I do exactly as you suggest... take a picnic. Usual menu (and it rarely changes ) for me and the old man is some ham and mustard sarnies and a large butchers pork pie! Bought fresh in the morning, sliced up & wrapped in tin foil. Tupperware wankers

I’ll be going. It does mean I won’t be able to get into the minute by minute moanathon with all the armchair critics, but it is a price I am willing to pay 🙂

This is one of those games that many will go to not particularly becasue they're looking forward to it, but more with a sense of doing their duty and doing what they've always done, many of us have done plenty of that over the years, personally i wouldnt be bothered if the competition got ditched altogether.
