Was Holmes offside on the third goal? Looked miles off from down the other end and I was just waiting for the lino to flag Just seen the highlights and he was a way offside but just felt like the game was going to give us the rub of the green. In fairness that linesman was dire and their penalty was soft so it did even itself out. Two big key moments went for us and its a hugely important win! Thought he was miles off at the time but think the highlights show he was onside myself

Having seen the third goal back Holmes looks onside
Fair play to the linesman he got a decision right & that wasn’t an easy one to make!

Good win in the end for the lads. Same referee awarded a penalty last season against Sorba Thomas v WBA. Showed the same qualities today, never a penalty, today or last season - Matt Donohue, doesn't like us! Come on now own up which town fan did he catch with his missus? Because that’s disgusting that it’s happened twice. Linesman gave the penalty today. Ref wasn’t sure. For what it’s worth I thought it was a penalty but thankfully it didn’t matter. Holmes was definitely offside for the third as well so nice to get the rub if the green for once. Much improved today but still a little worried about what we were creating before Holmes and Rhodes came on. We had one shot on target in the first 65 minutes, that is always going to be an issue if we don’t look to be more creative or have more support for Ward. Hopefully that will come with the confidence taken by the players from today.

So much better. Danny seems to have realised CC's squad needs to play a CC system to get results,. New lad KKH looks good. Rudoni MOTM for me and Holmes was great off the bench. Table looks loads better already, and we go to Norwich Tuesday - they're bottom. So we’re we today.

Not sure if those posting Thomas and Ruffles are shit went today or are arm chair bedwetters but they both put a shift in today. Suspect both will go on to do really well. Good support from the fans helped today, from the off. There is no substitute for positivity. Well done Danny and the lads. Really good game and great to come out on top. There's a few near me who seem to sit down every game with the intention of focusing entirely on Sorba, waiting for something they can hurl abuse at him for. If you try something a bit special, it won't always work. I'll never criticise a player for trying something different. With Thomas it's the decision making that let's him down at times (yes, I'm like a broken record) which probably comes from him coming through the non-league system rather than at a pro academy.

I enjoyed the game today. I can't add nothing that hasn't already been said other than that game had everything, penalty saves, offside goals, we scored two in open play, crowd singing and our new players doing well.
The only criticism of sorba is in the second half when they were coming forward, stoke were push three players down our left and sorba stopped running back and gestured to ruffels to watch them.
The stoke lot didn't like being called a shit port Vale....

I know what you mean. Beats 2 men today, 1 with a sublime nutmeg, and then tries to score with outside of boot worldie with 3 men in support bearing down. He's a talent though and a good outlet as well as set piece man. Some will always focus on the errors though, that's life.

We needed legs in the middle Rudoni gave us that and more (not a winger) If Tino is match fit I'm mo Farah he was blowing out his arse after 20mins. Great save for the pen Great result UTT looking at what Schofield said post-match he was having trouble with the heat. I was working outside most of the day and missed the game as a result, never felt as lethargic after as I did today as it was so hot out. Hopefully it's just that and not a fitness problem

Much better performance today, far from perfect, but right from the start you could see the lads were up for it.
I don't see how he couldn't not give the pen, he probably didn't even see the Stoke player but it's a foul. Ironically, thanks to Nicholls's great save, we profited from the lift the save gave us.
Yuta was very good, young KKH had a great debut, Nicholls looked back to his best but MOM, for me, had to be Rudoni - simply gave us movement & confidence on the ball next to Hogg that has been missing so far this season. Sorba improved second half for me, with one bit of sublime skill on the touchline in front of us but his decision making has to improve.
Next, some good words for two of my not particular favourites, Ruffels & Holmes. I think we need an upgrade on Ruffels but he got stuck in today, was strong in the air & Holmes added some forward momentum when he came on - he should always be sub for me as he affects the game far more when he comes on than when he starts.
Finally, for those that say Koroma doesn't care, when he was warming up he was applauding & encouraging the lads on the pitch. I know he's been awful playing so far but he certainly seemed to care about the team today.

He seemed afraid to take a man on, on a couple of occasions should have chased the ball but looked like he couldn't be arsed to and lost the ball a fair bit. He is a good player though and will improve I have no doubt. I would even say Ruffels had a good game today!

nice to see a win.
They all played well, but I thought the outstanding players on the pitch for us today were the new lad KKH. He looked right at home. Johnny Hogg..... (YES THAT JOHNNY HOGG!!!!) who put in a reet shift today. Yuta Nakayama obviously for his goal, but he also put in a decent shift today. Lastly Rudoni. He looks to have such a bright future in the game. Never looked overwhelmed by the occasion. Ran his ass off and slotted into the 2 with Johhny Hogg no problem.

To be fair he has been poor in the first two games today I thought he worked harder today but his first touch in my opinion is terrible particularly in tight areas and he has no left foot. He needs to stop believing his own hype and keep on working to improve his game.

A good result against a really poor Stoke side. Much needed improvements and still a lot to work on but we needed a result and we got one. Holmes MOTM for me, he won the game for us. No chance the lad from Wimbledon and Hoggy best in our side today

I sit at that end of the Kilner Bank and it looked a dubious decision.

Much improved performance and result but maybe on the balance of play think we lucked out a little, we capitalised on their defensive error for the Ward goal but I don't think there was much between the sides today, what with the pen miss too, that said glad of the win. Holmes was instrumental in the winners and Rhodes will always get a goal or 2 if he gets chances as he has proved. Did we create much though?

An enjoyable game, a terrific win and some semblance of a half decent team emerging. Lee Nichols made a great save which will boost his confidence no end. But, Stokes goal was nailed on from the moment they stormed through our midfield, it wasn't a case of our midfield going to sleep, there was quite literaly no one in mid field whatsoever. That aside not a bad performance. Hoggy was trying to win the ball high up the field, which we'd done and continued to do to good effect - it won us the game, after all - but they worked around him and then the guy ran unimpeded into our half. We still had plenty of men behind the ball, though.

Like the game that launched the great escape. Hopefully our game v Stoke today will launch the great crusade… 👍 UTT!!! So who was today’s Paul Dalton? That was the last time we beat Stoke at home, 25 years ago, but they've only been here 5 times since.

Much better balance today, didn’t get overrun in the middle again. Kudos to the recruitment of a rwb that allowed us to go to a back three. Although couple of shaky moments were at our best when lees is central to our defence

Has anyone seen the Dwight Gayle disallowed goal yet? I sit at that end of the Kilner Bank and it looked a dubious decision. I had a great view of it, just in line with the ball in, upper tier. He was just off. He’s one of those strikers who are born offside so it’s the risk he takes. Glad it was ruled out as he’s a twat with a nasty habit of leaving his foot in.
