100%. I know what you mean. Beats 2 men today, 1 with a sublime nutmeg, and then tries to score with outside of boot worldie with 3 men in support bearing down. He's a talent though and a good outlet as well as set piece man. Some will always focus on the errors though, that's life. I thought Sorba was terrible today. I genuinely do. He seemed afraid to take a man on, on a couple of occasions should have chased the ball but looked like he couldn't be arsed to and lost the ball a fair bit. He is a good player though and will improve I have no doubt. I would even say Ruffels had a good game today! I thought Ruffles was good too. Sorba does my head in most games if I'm honest. However, if his decision making was spot on he wouldn't be playing for Town!

Loved Yuta's performance today. I thought he looked really assured and confident on the ball. A very tidy player all round.

Has anyone seen the Dwight Gayle disallowed goal yet? I sit at that end of the Kilner Bank and it looked a dubious decision. I had a great view of it, just in line with the ball in, upper tier. He was just off. He’s one of those strikers who are born offside so it’s the risk he takes. Glad it was ruled out as he’s a twat with a nasty habit of leaving his foot in. He did that to Hogg in the first half, shows how Hoggy has matured as I thought he would take him out second half!!

Just seen the goals, Holmes is a yard offside for the 3rd....but we'll take it. Watch again and pause as the ball is released. It's a really we timed run and pass. He's onside!

I was on the opposite side and I concur. He was half a stride ahead of the defence, gambling on the ball in. As soon as the ball went into the middle I thought the flag would go up, and it did. Both big offside decisions were correct in the end - to our benefit. The penalty decision was another shocker from Mr Donoghue. Not sure where he's got this idea of a high boot being a penalty when the opponent is ducking into the challenge at waist height. I've seen the replay and don't think there's any contact on this one either. He's the only ref I've seen give those, and both he's given have been against us - our luck!

only negative I have, probably no one has but is Nicholls (apart from the pen save) been alright, he should of saved their goal today, poor against Preston and should of done better for the 2nd goal against Birmingham, seems like he can't catch a ball anymore

At the match and Stoke score. Cowshed end goes quiet. All I can hear is Stoke. Come on boys this is when we should be singing. I can’t do it on my own in Riverside! More like the Calfshed these days.

Looked lively in the south stand today, especially around the penalty decision and save and then our goal. Why do the opposing fans have to be so close?

Needs better protection but still a quality keeper.

An absolutely superb performance in sweltering conditions. Easy to forget how hot it was on the pitch when we are all sat in the shade. I’ve seen a criticism of Nicholls on the thread - when we could not wish to have a better and more influential keeper. Loved it when the crowd sang “England’s No 1 “ What I saw was a team who played with spirit and enthusiasm.
I was in line with some of those crosses from Thomas in the 1st half - superb deliveries and he looked much better today.
Hoggy and Rudoni worked in midfield and I thought the Hogmeister was at his best today.
And a new hero emerges - Nakayama. Class signing , excellent on the ball and now we know, a real threat at set pieces.
It’s only our 3rd league game of the season, let’s hope we can now build from here.

I too sit in the Kilner Bank, virtually in line, with the offside, he looked offside to me, the lino was once was in a great position & quickly flagged, just enjoy the win - UTT.

Agree. I don’t think I’ve ever admired a keeper as much as Nicholls. The guy just oozes class.

Yes, he did that a few times - hopefully he'll find his range, but I liked the fact that he was looking to play forward whenever he could.

He’s slightly unsighted by bodies in front of him as well.

There's a few near me who seem to sit down every game with the intention of focusing entirely on Sorba, waiting for something they can hurl abuse at him for. If you try something a bit special, it won't always work. I'll never criticise a player for trying something different. With Thomas it's the decision making that let's him down at times (yes, I'm like a broken record) which probably comes from him coming through the non-league system rather than at a pro academy. To be fair he has been poor in the first two games today I thought he worked harder today but his first touch in my opinion is terrible particularly in tight areas and he has no left foot. He needs to stop believing his own hype and keep on working to improve his game. I've heard this "believing his own hype" theory a few times. I get it to an extent, because he exploded onto the scene last season with basically an assist every game, and then went off the boil a bit... but isn't that just the natural ebb and flow of form? I don't see anything from him that suggests he's turned into a show-pony (the first few games of this season aside, but he's not alone in that). I'm not on any social media, so if he's been giving it large on instatwat or whatever then fair enough- but I don't get why it's only Sorba whose main problem is his ego according to some on here.

So much better. Danny seems to have realised CC's squad needs to play a CC system to get results,. New lad KKH looks good. Rudoni MOTM for me and Holmes was great off the bench. Table looks loads better already, and we go to Norwich Tuesday - they're bottom. So we’re we today. after three games Norwich or bottom! For goodness sake it will make no difference on Tuesday either way our record there is poor but we certainly upped our all round game yesterday utt

After letting that sink in a bit further, what a great team performance!
Sorba is copping it a bit unfairly on here. His quality from set pieces more than makes up for his running into alleys etc. To me, he’s VLP but with a quality set piece, so he does have end product. One corner in the first half went right across the 6 yard box untouched. Pity Rudoni was a yard off it because it was a tap in at the far post.
Talking of Rudoni, thought he was excellent and popped up everywhere including the ball through to Holmes for the 3rd goal. Really like his defensive work too, doesn’t shirk it and doesn’t mind sticking a foot in. Was my MoM.
Holmes was excellent. Not my favourite player, but he showed the reaction and effort the fans want and expect. His assist to Rhodes was well taken, sat the keeper and then unselfishly played to Rhodes for the tap in.
Wardy, keep this up and you’ll prove some wrong, including me. Needs to keep scoring, needs to be a 20 a season for us to have a chance of going up.
Yuta was class even though he gave the ball away for the equalizer. Along with Lees and Turton, makings of a solid back 3 again.
Both wingbacks were good, special mention to KKR for starting after just signing and putting in a quality performance.
Nichols, don’t think he could do much for the goal, well placed shot coming unsighted initially. His penalty save was the catalyst for us getting some belief.
Finally Hoggy, great performance and you could see how much it meant to him and DS at the end, thought they were going to do things to each other that should only be done in private 😂
Overall a good performance which should get the team going in the right direction. Plenty of things to tidy up but we are heading in the right direction. We started to look like last years team with more forward thinking. This could be an exciting season.
Lastly the penalty, I think it was a penalty. The ball was at chest/upper chest height when it was played, if that was anywhere else on the pitch it’s a foul for a high foot. I actually thought the ref was quite cool about it, he thought it was a penalty but was more than likely shocked that a high boot was played, so then asked the linesman to confirm what he saw.

Cracking game, we played well and looked so much better with this setup. 3 at the back definitely the way to go.
