People are saying performance over result, I'd say the opposite, we need a result & points on the board. Think back to the Preston game last season, terrible performance but a result that we badly needed. Agree the result is the most important thing by far but if we don't get that the minimum we need for things not to be looking like a horrible downward spiral is a better performance. We can't be as bad as we have been or I fear for DS. |

Re end of September deadline for Schofield above
As I’ve said before we went dreadfully backwards two years ago
Cowley won 13 & lost 16… mid table … following season that was W14 L21…. at times we looked like the Dog & Duck with a 5 min glimpse of quality & results alike
This season with a weaker squad, losing 3 key players now in premier league not sufficiently replaced, stronger league without 6 teams under financial restrictions, hard start with limited pre season and stitched up by Carlos at the last minute … anything better than P46 W12 D13 L21 F50 A71 is a good result! Anything worse not so!
That’s the benchmark unless the squad is significantly improved from its current status

It's the 4-4-2 that's killing us. We were rock solid with 3 at the back last season. 4-4-2 needs 2 cracking full backs (Turton & Ruffles, fuck me) and a really strong centre mid 2 (Hogg & Russell, fuck me). Recipe for disaster what DS is doing ... Oh, hang on a minute ... The 4-4-2 is killing us, it's clear, too much space in midfield, just not working - UTT. |

3 points , or even 1 point would be welcomed today...just to stop the rot. The players will already feel the pressure and confidence beginning to wain.. Conceding goals in the first 10 minutes just seems to knock the stuffing out of us...does DS have the man management skills to keep moral up in the squad ? I'm worried too about the 'better' players (Sorba) who seems to be showing some petulance which isn't helping anybody. DS needs to get a grip of this and quick. The longer it goes on the worse it will get and the harder it will be for DS to arrest the decline. it's not a crisis as yet and I'm sure the whole coaching team are working hard with the players. points on the board will be a massive boost though..

I wonder if Danny will play a 4 today. Would be suicidal in my opinion.
If he does play a 4 I reckon we'll get absolutely battered. It simply does not work with the players we have.
Reet. Time to get changed. Looking forward to today's game for some strange reason.

Lose convincingly today whilst playing like we have been doing with some tricky games coming up and a decision on the coach’s future will have to be made. We can’t afford to let this drift as before we know it, we’ll be in for a season of struggle and/or a relegation fight. Appreciate it’s still very early doors but we have looked totally rudderless up til now. I like Danny but have my doubts on his ability in the “hot seat” without any experience alongside. 🤞 we put up a better showing today.

The old heart strings as always say a win - the old hope DNA in me says draw - but the old head says loss sadly - there again this is Town so who knows...
Prediction = Huddersfield Town 1 v Stoke City 2...
Dearly hope that score prediction turns out the other way round though !

I don't know but i'd guess he's looking for runners when he gets the ball so he can launch a pass but how many players are actually making themselves available ? With no options, and the ball at his feet what do you expect him to do ? All he can do is play a 'safe' pass to a player in space...usually either behind him or to one side...or just hoof it aimlessly into space ?
I know he's past his best, and maybe he should do more talking on the pitch but anyone who has played football, at any level, knows exactly how it feels when you're being closed down and all your mates are just stood watching you..
The 'problem' is more endemic than Hogg..lack of movement, control, vision, willingness to work...in other words 'hiding' by just tucking yourself behind an opponent to avoid getting the ball passed to you.

Seriously considered giving this game a miss cos of how poor we are, how bloody hot it's going to be, how much of a shitshow the transport is this weekend, and the group I sit with mostly being on holiday...
But decided I'd come down in the hope that this game might be where we turn the corner. Thinking back to that first win v
Stoke under Jacko, and the Mark Prudhoe comedy hour...
Nothing personal, but I hope Chadders isn't happy at 1645!

Three at back will make us more solid and plays to the strengths of Rudoni and Tino who are the two chinks of positivity this season. |
