Someone on here mentioned that it had been confirmed yesterday that midweek games were on. Well, that's my week ruined. It’s Town you know - they might just be typical HTAFC and sneak a win with an outstanding performance - there again.... !

Always great even when we were truly shite. Winning a game as quick as we can is more important for me than putting off a game because we may lose? Truth may be that getting the 'respect' part over asap might have been better. The closer to the event the probability of some dissent was less??

Although confusingly there are some still on? United v Leeds and Chelsea v Liverpool would take up a huge amount more police resources than any other games this weekend.

That looks like a positive sign that they're allowing the clubs to make their own decisions ref: weekend games.
Hopefully WYP won't come out with anything daft.
It'll be interesting to see what Spurs do, they're the Sky teatime game on Sat, so maybe they'll be allowed to crack on & play.

Palace won't have had a game for 28 days when they eventually play Chelsea on October 1. They will then have to play 9 games in 43 days, followed by a 43-day gap before their next game. Crazy stuff.

It's a huge operation policing wise. They were looking for mutual aid officers from Northern Ireland to go over and work for 8 days (without their glocks).

They need 10,000 Police on duty for the Queens funeral so they will be pulling in resources from every county in the country, thanks to Teresa May we are still woefully short of Police.

Absolutely massive this Operation. The amount of delegates and the logistics around each one of them is huge. So are we to assume you’re part of this, and that’s part of the reason you were for postponements?

This will be the biggest funeral the world has ever seen it will be a nightmare for the authorities with all the heads of state and world leaders plus the millions! that could descend on London for the funeral. What a job for the new commissioner and 10,000 Old Bill doesn't seem that many.

I can sort of see why Man U v Leeds is off as I guess they bring police in from other areas for this game but cannot get my head around why Leeds v Forest was postponed today. 4 days after the Queen’s death

In a season where fixture congestion is already a headache thanks to the World Cup, making it even worse by needlessly postponing more games was a really daft decision by football. Lets honour the queen by stopping millions of people from doing what they enjoy doing. Barmy.

Two years of the establishment telling us how to live our lives? Bit dramatic to say the least. This was one weekend without football it's not the end of the World, some on here might have you believe. Like I said we will be back on Tuesday. And back to watching the Worlds slowest midfielder in Russell, A coach that is completely out of his depth and a left back who should be playing Sunday league. UTT You fell asleep during Covid?? Two years. Can’t have folk in your own house. Can’t go outside apart from exercise, can’t go to a pub or restaurant, can’t go on holiday. Can’t do anything. This is just another example of those with the power letting us minions know our place. It was about 6months that you couldn’t do any of that whilst tens of thousands were dying. OTT like many posts in this thread.

This is just another example of those with the power letting us minions know our place. It was about 6months that you couldn’t do any of that whilst tens of thousands were dying. OTT like many posts in this thread. It was 10 days short of two years that I got back into work. And even then there were restrictions in place like wearing masks. And yet in the U.K. more healthy folk die from drowning every year.

Unless he/she is now using that as an additional excuse.

Pretty mixed bag by all accounts. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62893621Nice that Liverpool got the first mention and seemingly some plaudits for almost observing half a minute's silence... Interesting banner at the Bayern v Barcelona game as well... That's some effort to go to for supporters in a foreign country with no allegiance to the UK.

Games called off today due to the level of police resources it would have required. Was it partly due to this as well as the funeral? Wonder how much coverage this will get on news channels. Not one mention on BBC breakfast www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-62943952

Thankyou Terasa May for the shortage Officers, what other Prime Minister would have cut the numbers of Police like she did. I made a point when driving down to the play offs just to see if any how many Police i would see on the M1, and the grand total was 0 both going and coming back not a single Police car. 20/30years a go there were loads of Motorway Police every services had their own and they wonder why you see appalling driving every day when on the motorway, they always say that government's don't live in the real world she certainly doesn't.
