Can't believe I'm reading people saying we didn't have a midfield today. Kasumu and Camara might as well have been the only people on the pitch for periods, they were absolutely everywhere.
We conceded a crap penalty that by now we should really know better, 3rd penalty in 2022 for a high foot? Other than that I can't remember them having a shot from open play.
The issue is Rudoni forgetting he's on a football pitch whilst 1 on 1, Sorba being unable to hit a barn door and an overall lack of creativity from the attackers.

I'll get one thing out Cardiff are the worst team I've seen so far, bar Town.
I thought we played OK, which is a massive improvement on recent performances. A step in the right direction.
It's amazing what a bit if organisation. Plus playing square pegs in square holes. Round pegs in Round holes. Plus a star shaped peg in star shaped hole.
What a difference it is having two players in midfield who will close people down, chase, harry and generally move. Which allows other people the freedom to get forward.
I thought Holmes was superb today. He was really fired up. Best player on the park for me. Drove us forward, his runs were threatening and got back to help out.
We look better with Rhodes providing the outlet up front. He is better than Ward at playing with his back to goal. Which is probably what we need at the minute.

The keeper booting it rather passing it out effects the possession stats. Some promising signs from certain players, Kasumu had a good first half, Helik looked like what i thought we’d bought in the second, i know Mbete is very very good, Rhodes looked the fittest he has since resigning and Camara is now another real option to add to the squad. It was a bit strange watching Nicholls boot it up field, you could almost call it old school.

Interesting to see who was out of the squad altogether today. No Russell and No Ruffels wonder if they're being given a spell on the sidelines to get them re focused.

Confidence can make such a difference in life and we’re seeing that with this squad at the moment. They need picking up off the floor and getting the belief back that we had last season. The work rate was there today and the quality will improve as confidence comes back, there’s plenty of individual talent in the squad. And when they get used to playing together.

Cautiously optimistic. The players gave everything for the coaches and each other. Nobody could be accused of not putting a shift in, except maybe Tino, but “putting a shift in” isn’t really his thing. You can tell how low confidence is. Rudoni, Sorba especially panicking with chances we’d have buried last season. Kasumu and Camara weren’t composed enough but they had bite and showed huge potential. Expect them to get better every game. Defensively better, more solid and organized and Lees + Helik has potential as they get to know each other. Not sure on stats but it felt like Turton and Nakayama allowed far fewer crosses than we’ve been seeing. Nicholls back to his outstanding best. In short it was ugly, ugly football today but that’s not what mattered. We desperately needed a win and we got it, now we have something to build on. Tbf, at one point Tino bust a gut to get back and close down their right side on the counter

We just looked more focused and more organised. I don't think we did anything remarkable but we noticeably tried to pass the ball forwards more which was made possible by Camara and Kasumus movement. Also thought Narcis got every sub spot on so basically we were just tactically better today than we have been all season. A good starting point for the next Guardiola.

Where was the 2nd penalty that moany Morrison thinks they should have had?

The commitment and work rate was back, the quality will follow as will the confidence. Not one player failed to put a shift in. The 2 kids in CM were superb and my little mate, Duane, was as good as I've ever seen him.

Camara and Kasumu could be a good combination! They looked like they'd been playing together for years. Hogg & Russell will need to work hard to displace these two now.

Not liking the lack of possession we have in all games. Always below 50%. If that continues we will stay near the bottom. There was a clear change in managerial instruction today regarding playing out from the back - don’t do it. All goal-kicks were taken long; no passing to the centre half at the edge of the six yard box. Nicholls kicked everything long - goalkeepers kicking out of their hands has become a thing of the past - not today. Nicholls launched everything. Yes - we often have high possession stats, but that is usually because of the short passing at the back and across the 18 yard box. We cut that out completely today, hence the 50% figure. Opposition teams have sussed us out on that front and always close us down quickly and then we make a mistake leading to a goal or a solid chance. Stopping that today meant we didn’t put ourselves into unnecessary trouble. Yes, lumping it up to the big lad up front (hence Jordan starting) is neither pretty nor the current thinking but, in our current predicament, I will take the 3 points over fancy, attractive football any day of the week. Watching today, I saw fight and effort from every player. All put a shift in and you could see the relief on all player faces at the final whistle. It wasn’t pretty, but going into the International break with a win, is a huge confidence booster and the incoming manager won’t have to pick the players up off quite so low a floor.

The free kick on the edge of the box just before half time, could have been inside??? It wouldn't even have been given as a free kick at the other end. Im all for more robust challenges, grabbing Rhodes around the neck seemed to be ok as well today? We ended up with 3 or 4 bookings today, worst challenges were on Nyatanga and Rudoni, neither were even given as a foul? The offside when it was so clearly played by a Cardiff lad and then their centre forward was actually standing still 3 yards offside for a long ball, allowed to go on. If we win games this season we wont be helped.

In terms of workrate, commitment and desire that was a tremendous performance. In terms of composure and quality on the ball it was pretty poor. As it stands, the win was all important. Much more important than the performance. Hopefully we can build from here and gain some confidence to be able to play with more quality on the ball. But some would prefer a 3-3

If I was Danny Schofield I'd be a bit pissed off, all the players put a real shift in, which they didn't under him.
The club is in crisis & 3 points today was absolutely essential - how some can be moaning about lack of quality is beyond me, today was always about getting 3 points.
Helik looked like the player I was expecting on Tuesday but to be fair to him, it was his first game in a long while. The rest of the defence did really well & stuck to their jobs. Nicholls looked back to his best.
Kasumu & Rudoni worked really hard, Camara looked like he had been playing Championship football for years.
Of course quality was missing but this will come when confidence grows. I, alsp, cannot understand why people are getting on Rudoni's back, the lad had a poorish game, topped off by his awful one on one chance, but he has been our best player up to now & he will continue to get better.
Again, Holmes, worked his socks off & played really well. Jordan put in a great shift, as did Ward when he came on.
Big, big mention to Narcis too, he went back to basics & is clearly very passionate about our team.
Great effort today from everyone. UTT.

What an improvement in attitude and desire. It wasn’t a classic - but 3 points is a great achievement .
What pleased me most was that the senior players all delivered. Lees back to his best including that tremendous clearance late on when the Cardiff forward dived into him. Nicholls not much to say other than he showed everything that he showed last season. He’s England’s No 1. Holmes. Snappy. Aggressive and positive, he’s a great asset when in this mood. Pleased for Camara he did well and now needs to build on this. Most of all pleased for Narcis. I swear he didn’t stop shouting and organising for 1 second during the game.

His 100th game and arguably his best for us… I thought Duane Holmes was class today. His energy and work rate was a different level to what I’ve seen for a long time from him. I hope it continues.

Great win and three points. Besides that we were awful. Big job for the new manager. We have zero quality in midfield. According to that clever cu!? Bromby we are fine. Really ? You talk some right shit mate. No quality in midfield? Kasumu, Holmes & Camara were all brilliant today Zero quality he said. Candidate for worst ever poster on DATM?

Enjoyed every minute of that today. Wasn't the best game, but to see someone make 'risky' decisions was a breath of fresh air.
To start Camara and Rhodes. Brave. Did it work? 100%
Bench Sorba - imo this should have been done 2 or 3 games ago.
Leave Russell out completely. Sending the message out that you have to work for the shirt.
1st time this season I felt we look structured. 4 minutes added on and I was fairly confident Cardiff wouldn't threaten.
Well done Narcis. Clean sheet was probably the best thing today behind the 3 points. Nichols deserved it.
Fans fantastic.
Well done everyone from the fans to the staff.

Cardiff were shite, barely threatened us. Thought there fans were shite too, barely made a ripple. They got dressed up in their best, brushed their tooth and combed the last of their hair all ready for their day out and literally gave up the moment they arrived. I don’t think we’ll see a poorer team or away fans this season tbh.
