You’ll still find town fans that didn’t rate Carlos as well 😂

Firstly I didn't watch or listen to the match. Family day and didn't see anything until teatime.
From what I can see Mark did what he said. He tried to be solid at the back, first choice, possibly only choice, keeper, four experienced defenders and a reasonably attacking midfield and striker. He didn't start Hogg, even though he is captain, and many would have. He tried to change it round at half time and made a brave choice bringing on Ben Jackson for a Japanese international, who may be struggling after the international games, and put another striker on for Holmes. He then changed the shape, took Turton off for Mbete and brought Mahoney on. At the end of the game we had more possession, 10 shots to their 11 and the same number of shots on target. We let in some sloppy goals.
I understand his selection but the one I found strange was Russell for Kamara. I have no idea how well or poorly Russell played but he stayed on the 90 minutes.
You can take all the training sessions you want but you can learn more in one game than a month of training sessions, and he will have learned.
Very little time before another tough away game so lets see what Tuesday brings.

All for good man management and all that, but if he doesn't come out and say that was atrocious and unacceptable. And to be honest, if our players don't realise it their selves, then jobs fooked. It IS early days though, and I live in hope......

He has got to like Town over the years and can't believe the mess we are in.

I can't comment on a game I haven't seen but some reliable posters being critical isn't a good indication.
We have to give MF a chance but he's walked into a club at which morale and togetherness are less than ideal. That can't be easy to assess and it must be harder to build a credible plan to improve.
The fact we are in such a situation reflects well on none of those who are able to directly influence our fortunes.
It was inevitable that MF wouldn't be afforded much time but if he can turn this round he's more than a credible coach. However, tonight the probability of achieving that looks like it would be a tough ask for Klopp or Guardiola let alone a rookie head coach in his first leading role.
I really hope for the best but worry that our fate maybe already determined.

Only time will tell if Fotheringham can create abit of magic with this squad but this is a results only business which allows little room for error

Most of this squad dont look to be championship quality players or certainly arnt playing to that standard
Lack of form and poor fitness levels compared to last season seem to be adding to this problem

I only saw the third goal, what a shambles.
But we’ve been in worse places and positions than this.
Social media is the gift that keeps on giving. Roll on the next 2 games. A tough season ahead, but still plenty of time to find a way out of this.
Maybe the new Mgr will realise we’ve a mountain to climb, mentally…
UTT!!!

In response to Camara not playing, it’s because we have to protect him? I have to say I find it really disappointing if a 19 year old can’t play a whole game 2 weeks ago, train and then can’t play the next game. I'd like to see us protect Russell instead

Your optimism is admirable but I don't think we have the playing staff or managerial acumen to survive. Hope I'm wrong.

Sadly no protection of that ilk anywhere in the club now abd as such he is fast becoming unplayable for the wrong reason.

Unfortunately without the protection he had last season he just doesn’t seem effective in actual games because of his lack of intensity.

The quote from the poster was "At the same time, not worth £10m and not going to be missed according to Hoyle". How is it obvious that Hoyle thought O'Brien wouldn't be missed? Nobody thought he wouldn't be missed, and I cannot imagine Hoyle thought it, so the 'quote' is bollocks and just another dig at Dean Hoyle after a defeat.

Why drop Camara who has been one our better players for Russell who is out of form seems clueless to me they can give this guy 6 games 10 games by which time we will be cast adrift, feels like the mid 70s all over again after Greaves, coaches who weren't up to the job taking us nearly out of the league only this time is there going to be a Mick Buxton to come along and save us,I would love to be proved wrong and he turns things round I just don't see it or feel it and when we have to get yet another new coach please don't have Bromby choosing him he has to go too, have been a town supporter over 50 years so seen this incompetence many times before town will always keep shooting themselves in the foot

After Danny went the Cardiff game was almost a free hit and Chico put Kamara in and he played well. I think Mark went for experience. He used two young players in his subs but didn't start any. He may change that on Tuesday. It is not unusual for managers to expect senior players to step up at difficult times.

In difficult times I'd hope the coach would play those who have being playing well rather than those who have been poor all season. Irrespective of experience. We desperately need as many confident players in good form on the pitch as possible. Let's be honest, we don't have many of them! There is nothing in any of Russell's performances this season to suggest he is playing remotely well enough to be relied upon in a pressurised game.
