There was a story about Griezmann (I think), and how he has a threshold of minutes to play, beyond which they’ll have to pay his parent club a permanent fee, maybe another €40m or something. I get that loan deals are done for various reasons nowadays, but I can’t remember this sort of condition being imposed prior to the PL days, or when the money went into hyperdrive. It’s symptomatic of the stranglehold the PL has on the EFL. Hoover up all the young talent, then loan out to EFL clubs on your terms. Mbete may be a star in the making, but we all thought the same about Palmer & Brown, who to be fair are carving out reasonable careers, but neither of them for Chelsea. Mbete might be one of those who’s loaned out for the next 3 seasons and Man C will then cut their losses? (I get the irony of that last bit) He just strikes me as a young kid who’s always got a mistake in him. He might need a different loan further down the leagues for him to find his feet. I doubt Man City are going to be overly concerned about the financial terms of this loan deal... its Man City FFS! :D They will be concerned about the development of the player though and presuming they have people watching these games to follow their young 'stars' progress, then you would think the report back to Pep wont be a good one. Something along the lines of ' He's having a nightmare Pep. Can we get him back under our wings before all his confidence is totally shot to pieces?" They might not want us to play him anymore for that reason. As far as we're concerned the lad isn't usable. He's played 130 minutes for us spread over 4 games and id put him at fault for 5 goals conceded with terrible defending! Almost one every 25 minutes!! Im sure he cant really be THAT shit..he cant have got so far at Man City and England if he was,,, surely... but for us he is THAT shit. Weve got a lot of these young PL loans right over the past few years, but its always a gamble and like the lad from West Ham last season, this is one to forget. My point wasn't about the financial side Slapps. The Griezmann thing was to emphasise that top clubs can dictate terms nowadays, more than how things were many yrs ago, when the loan system was more straightforward. The EFL provide the bigger PL clubs with a real life development league. The PL are (understandably) not concerned about the club they're loaning players to, irrelevant to them if their player is involved in shipping 5 goals and playing a part in the relegation of that club, it means they dodged a bullet by not having to play them in one of their own sides. The flip side is the successful ones then get recalled and the borrowing club is left with a gap to fill. I hope this kid learns a lot from his time here, but if he continues as per last night, Man C won't be the club affected by his poor performances.

No they wont care about our results.. but they will be concerned about their player having his confidence totally destroyed and returning to them as a shell shocked shadow of the player they sent away. Id imagine Mbete has gone from feeling like he's good enough to be on the verge of the best club side in the world, to thinking he cant cut it for a side at the arse end of the 2nd tier... thats if he has any self awareness at all.

So would a hardened Will Boyd have been better in a tough physical game like last night Captain ?

Tbh I and I’m sure ever Huddersfield supporter don’t give a flying fook about Shity it’s what benefits Town that counts ,so following that performance the lad can’t play again , it’s that simple

Not sure how only one of the 6 goals is recorded as an og. Adebayos first I do not think was going in until deflected, and Jackson nowhere near touching that in.

It was not a good game, but it was exciting, lots of nervous watching.
We got a point away from home and the team showed that we have something to build upon.
Maybe after the red card Brahima Diarra can be given a chance after his MoM performance and the subsequently dropped by the manager to the bench and not used, to then being taken out of the first team squad. Or it could be that he is just not a good trainer.
I hope the young lad from City is not a good trainer or we could be seeing a lot of him!

Shocking performance, probably very nervous. Needs a massive amount of help in reading the game and reacting correctly under pressure, hope he's up to it, but we can't be shipping goals and points weekly because of him.

I think he must have the potential and I hope our coaches can develop that in a short enough time for him to be a useful member of the squad. Also their first goal should have been stopped by Helik and Nicholls, though Mbete did get turned too easily. He looked slow in thought and action against a big direct team. However that is one reason he is here, to learn how to handle those. We'll see how he goes from here, I hope they can get his confidence back.

Having looked at the extended highlights on the Ben Jackson thread their first goal was a cracking goal.
Had we scored that we’d have been raving about how Nichols took most of the side out with a great kick, then the turn by their CF would have taken most players out, not just Mbete.
Second goal, soft as shit, but why did Helik try and tackle with his right foot when the left foot was the natural choice in that position. No way you can hook the wrong foot around to take the ball. Shoddy.
Third goal. Might seem like sour grapes, but there could have been a case for a high foot when their lad picked up the ball in their half. That said I’d have been annoyed if that would have been given against us. The rest of it, poor defending, topped off by another mis-kick from Mbete.
Hopefully plenty of positives to work on for Sunday, a lot more intent on display on Tues.
UTT!!!

Hoping we’ve turned a corner. If we can score three and get a point away with those match stats then a bit more confidence and improvement should start moving up the table.
