Agree, as unsuitable as the John Smith's is for them probably 95% of the time, it seems highly unlikely another stadium however small/appropriate for them would get planning permission less than a mile away. Could they ground share with The Rugby Union team - maybe build a bigger stadium to help both teams or is The Rugby Union Stadium landlocked with housing etc... PS - Is that the one I see on the train going back to Manchester on the Monday afternoon after ma weekend in Huddersfield ! 👍 Don't think so, it's on the Sheffield line, it's underneath Lockwood viaducts. It's nice for what it is but there's only one stand and I don't think they could build on the other 3 sides and there's very little parking. You'd love it, it's on the site of an old brewery 😉

Messaged my mate, that's a huge Fartown fan, to see if he'd heard anything. He said they'd been turned down for building one at Woodfield Park due to parking difficulties. Bloody good job, don't want them at the bottom of the road 🤣 Davy bought it about a decade ago I believe for this reason. Can't think of a less suitable part of town for a big influx of traffic than Armitage Bridge! Would've thought the rugby union ground would be a better candidate myself, more main roads nearby, more room to build on, and it already has a stand in the same colours Giants wear.

Woodfield Park was supposed to be turned into Fartowns Canalside. All they did was put a barrier across to stop anyone, including the emergency services, from entering. No idea how the old clubhouse mysteriously caught fire just after 🤔. We've always presumed he was biding his time before selling it for housing.

Although all the development is at the 'front' of the building, with a new 3G pitch (with rugby markings) etc, not much really happened with the grass RUFC pitch round the back, which is the only place where stands could potentially be fit round a pitch to get fans in...doubt they'd be able to build a 7500 seater stadium though, especially as all the established trees surrounding the pitch would have TPO's, and there's no way there is enough space for parking close by for even crowds of 2000+. Doubt any new stadium would ever actually happen, but I reckon the only realistic bit of ground that isn't TOOO far away, that is big enough for a stadium, lots of area for parking and no real residential area to complain about things, is the old abandoned half of the water works opposite The Three Nuns / Miller & Carter.

Ha Ha Porroh - You’ve just cheered up ma old maw (almost 81 and who I’m currently visiting in Connel) as she likes to expel air and expel it anywhere no matter how loud ! Restaurants, weddings, funerals even if she was at The Royal Weeding she would.. well.. fart and FART BLOODY LOUD at that... Other than that she is extremely ladylike and as timid as a church mouse - One of the times that I was down for The Footy and staying in the centre of town (maybe The Huddersfield Hotel) and she asked what the weather was like and I said lovely and I’m just enjoying the views facing up to Fartown and she started giggling and let rip with an almighty one and nearly burst ma eardrums as the bloody mobi was on loudspeaker !!! 😬 I like your maw Westie, sounds like the same idiocy/insanity as my maternal gran, loved a laugh and joke and "Blackpool postcard" humour. Best/funniest incident ever when they (her, my granddad and my cousin) came to visit and we took them to Heide Park (like Flamingo Land but better) for the day. We come to the corkscrew roller-coaster and obviously me and the younger relatives are straight up for it. Gran comes to join us and my granddad told her to stop being bloody stupid, she won't be able to handle it at her age. Just to prove a point she went on 5 (maybe 6) times on the spin, getting off at the end and coming with us straight back to the front. Flipping granddad the bird on the way past, upside down. After the final one she threw up all over the place, granddad pissing himself laughing. Then the pirate ship came into view, previous scenario repeated

Bring in a few bulldozers at Fartown and I reckon they could move back there...pitch is still ok, pop up a couple of stands...plenty of parking round the old cricket pitch etc and those 'Fartown' fans that abandoned the 'giants' would be pleased as punch. Maybe it would need a few £m's but then Ken could sell off all the other bits of land he's acquired to help. Dewsbury built a neat little new stadium which would tick the boxes for the Giants ..maybe slightly bigger...

All we need to do is just ask the Government nicely to contribute towards a new or improved stadium by claiming that is part of a regen strategy and a good use of tax payers money. At least that sounds like it’s Jim Radcliffe’s strategy for sorting out the crumbling Old Trafford. Somehow, I don’t think supporting that will be vote winner for fans of every other club in the country… www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68361025

I would think an application for funding for a project of this nature, centred around sporting facilities would have a 'very good chance' of obtaining funding...based on my observations. Is that better ??

It’s in the Daily Mail today:-
“Huddersfield are in dispute with their local authority over funding the running of the John Smith’s Stadium. Kirklees Council are refusing to pay their share of the bills as they are facing financial difficulties. Forty per cent of operating costs should be paid by the council, 40 per cent by Town and 20 per cent by rugby league club Huddersfield Giants.”

This lousy council has plenty of land or buildings they could sell off but they will expect the decent people of the area to pay more council tax while those who cant or wont pay just get away with it. Worst thing ever to happen to Huddersfield
