Sunderland on a poor run, good opportunity for us this. If we play like we did Saturday we can win

We should be beating the likes of Sunderland

They are being lauded as having a decent start to the season and us the exact opposite.
We win on Wednesday and we are 3 points behind them.

It's nice to be looking at the next game with a bit of optimism.
Think we'll turn them over.

Crowd need to be up for this one. The Mackems won’t be short of a song & we can’t let this become like a home game for them.

On paper the easiest of the last four games before the World Cup but that means fuck all for town .
Sunderland are a talented young team with a really experienced manager so imagine the key to this game is a quick start to put them under pressure but imagine their plan is similar . Looking at their form they score for fun but leak goals too … as many Mowbray teams do .
Couple of enforced changes on the cards but I’d go with
Nichols
Turton (Jackson if not fit) Helik Lees Nakayama
Camara Kasumu Russell
Rudoni Rhodes Holmes

Pretty undecided lot on this poll, Town have only themselves to blame for fans uncertainty to which team will turn up on the night, two wins from four before the break would see Town creep one-point ahead of points per games, which would be just about acceptable considering the start we've had.......2-0 win to put PNE match firmly behind us..UTT.

My friend pointed out a few seasons ago that's it's very rare we win 2 home league games in a row (without an away match in between). Doesn't seem to matter who the team or manager is! Maybe some statto out there will know when the last time was.

Turton looks like he's out for the season. Bad news. I thought we’d finally stumbled across the right formation but that requires a proper right back. Not sure we have one, the lad from Villa looks more like a wingback than a right back.

Of all the players from last season, Id say theres only him and Rhodes who's been able to carry their form on into this season at the same levels. Just a really dependable player.

I can remember when he first joined us, because he was basically a no name player some were quick to get on his back, any below par performance from town and he seemed to get more than his fair share of unwarranted criticism, he proved them wrong and hes been a decent signing tbh.

How long is the lad from Villa out for? Imagine it'll be him they go to at right back when he's fit. Started ok but seemed to lose his form but he's supposed to be very highly rated at Villa.

To be fair, when he first joined he looked very poor, both defensively and with the ball. He has improved incredibly over the past year to become one of our most consistent and dependable players. All credit to him and the coaching staff. An impressive turn around and he was a key part of our success last season. He'll be a big miss but, as always in football, one player's misfortune is another one's opportunity.

I do think he was drummed out a little unfairly after his mistake against Blackpool. He looked positive against Stoke, but as others have said looks more a wing-back than full-back. We've not had luck with injuries this season. Key players and big characters have been missing and we can only wait on them. Fingers crossed that Pearson, Hogg, Anjorin, Simpson, etc, will be back after the World Cup because they'll make a huge difference.

Can see us looking to bring in a new RB in January in that case.
I guess we have players that can fill in that gap, but they're all more used to being wing-backs.

I don't think that he's unfit/injured; simply out of favour. He'd be the obvious choice as a replacement but, given that he seems to be persona non grata, we can expect Rowe or another youngster to fill the gap.

Yeh think it’s just a case of not seen to be doing enough to warrant been in the squad.unless something changes or more injuries force managers hand and he does do well I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him go back to villa in January.shame as I do think he will end up been a good player.would guess we go with Jackson there now or potentially Rowe,or switch back to a 3 although with two recent clean sheets coming with a back four be surprised to see that happen. Would think be mahoney or holmes to replace sorba.Holmes gives the speed sorba brings but mahoney potentially the set piece delivery so it’s a toss up.
