With the resources Southgate has at his disposal, it really wasn't unreasonable to expect 9 points from this group.
Rio Ferdinand part of a failed international generation, btw. Good player at club level for sure but an often badly thought-out, low-intelligence spokesperson.

As Stan says, it's the waste of a very good set of attacking players, who actually seem to get on ok, with no club factions affecting spirit. Everyone in the press box has forgotten about John Charles, it seems. Sad to hear. One of the greats of the 1958 WC. Juventus and Leeds. One of those stand out head and shoulders above the rest type of players by all accounts. |
