Fair play to the Oz lads, they were the better team for 20 mins when Mooy was controlling the tempo of the game. But, when France step it up like that, there are very few teams that can match them. There's still the odd chance coming for them though.
C'mon Oz

We are sitting too deep and letting them come at us. As soon as we start playing we are getting chances. Need to be a bit more positive in mindset, not too much, don’t want to get torn apart, but enough to give us a chance at nicking a draw.

France look strong going forward, but Australia have shown, if you attack them they are far from secure at the back.
Well beaten in the end, but Australia have looked a far better team than many I've seen so far.

No disgrace for Oz at all that, & for 20 mins Mooy was the best player on the pitch, he tired later on, quite naturally against the speed of France but he did us proud. Let's hope they can pick up points in the next couple of games & qualify.

I don’t know, maybe I’m being a bit harsh but I thought we were a bit insipid. Needed to use the ball better, often a pass was available that was forwards or at least sideways, and we chose to go backwards. France are excellent, but they can definitely be got at, at the back.

Can’t really blame them for sitting deep when you’re up against that sort of pace, always going to happen as the game wears on and legs tire.

Don't be too down, mate, with all respect, the difference in the quality of the squads is huge. All your boys battled really well & caused France more problems than a lot of teams will. The big difference was the pace in the teams & that's why you couldn't commit too many men forward.

It’s tough to take as a sporting nation that we are going backwards with the quality we are producing. 2 players in top 5 leagues and both aren’t consistent starters.

I hope they do give a penalty every time this grappling in the box goes on. The problem is it’s only because of VAR that it’s given, the referee on the pitch didn’t spot it, and VAR is not used at all levels. The referee and his linesmen need to see it and take responsibility for making the decision to penalise the offender, and not rely on VAR. Maybe then, we’ll see less of this nonsense at all levels. Just get rid of var. Then we can start watching games in the moment again. If the ref screws up he takes the rap.

Hal Robson-Kanu is coming across well as a TV pundit. Quite bright and eloquent, unlike most of the rest.

Let's hope they can pick up points in the next couple of games & qualify. Looked quality for first 15-20 mins but after that it showed how his legs have gone really. very little mobility at all and looking increasingly knackered. Hes 32 but he played like a 42 year old. reminded me of Jan Molby,, trying to dictate play from a 20 yard area in the middle of the pitch. Works if your team has most of the ball like Liverpool used to, but if youre Australia in that game you just get passed around very easily. Expect he'll look better for longer in their other 2 games as the Aussies will get more of the ball.

Abdelhamid Sabiri has found himself on the Morocco bench, nice throwback to when we thought we'd found an absolute gem

Still looking like plenty of empty seats for the Germany v Japan game.
Expect we'll have another attendance figure that's a few thousand above the actual ground capacity.

The takeaway from some of these early games is the need to take your chances.
Argentina yesterday, Germany today.
Thank goodness England were clinical vs Iran.
