Not bothered either way with this,but to suggest a man is past it at 31,at that age I was at my peak,a complete animal. fittest I had ever been,and right up to 50 odd I could still dead lift a kilderkin of lager and put in in the boot of my car,and clean it out when i got to the pub I ran in Luton.{Butthat,s another story}

AK is only 31 years old. Feels like he has been around forever! I haven't keep tabs on why he hasn't played much recently, anyone know why? Could be a decent signing, we need some experienced heads around AK is 47 surely.

So, we don't want to sign players who are young and unproven and we don't what to sign players who are experienced and past their prime?
Does that mean we only want those at the top of their game? The DATM player shortlist appears to be very brief for some.....

The contrast of this thread with the Lowton one is funny. We're delighted with the signing of 33 year old Lowton despite him playing 180 minutes all season (against Shrewsbury and Crawley), yet 31 year old Knockaert is past his best because he's only played 400 minutes in Greece.

No problem with Lowton because he's not been injured just out of favour at Burnley. However, I wouldn't have thought a RB was an area we needed to strengthen if Turton is on his way back. Surely LB, AM and CF should be our priority

Surely LB, AM and CF should be our priority If we go to a back 4 Lowton is probably better than Turton. It certainly gives us two good options in an experienced back line. I agree about LB though. We could do with a Lowton on that side as well.

AK has a bad injury record recently, Lowton hasn't. He looks and sounds like a player who keeps himself very fit. Someone compared him to Hogg and I can see that.

31 maybe, but I can't understand anyone questioning this (mooted) signing. We've a side desperately short of attacking quality and creativity. People saying he is past it are- 30-31 The question people have to ask themselves as fans, btw the answer is we are in the bottom 3. We are also what second lowest goal scorers for a reason, thisi s because in the attacking half we are simply not good enough. AK is without doubt a winner at this level , in previous january windows we have signed half fit footballers or guys who have hardly played. If anyone can name a better wide man , that we can sign i would be shocked.
Yaya Sanogo scored against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and he is still only 29. Sometimes a player can be past their best at a relatively young age.

As a club we have no hope, if our fans are turning up there noeses at Anthony Knockeart . The lad still has more quaility in him than a lot of our options simple as that . If you are turning up your nose at this guy, then who the hell do you think we should be singing . Messi, ronaldo- Gakpo ? who the hell are town going to sign that would please you and show ambition ? deary me. He played in this league last season , he is still playing in the greek prem so he will be up to speed and like i say still has undouted ability to creat and score goals . Plus the mentaility side of it is key ,players like him and lawton are not use to losing at this level, they will not accept slack and will drive the playerson around them to be better. For me if AK ic coming in its an absoulte no brainer he can still do it , he is what 31 HELLO we have just given Lees a new three year deal, this guy will offfer a lot. The oppisition will be a lot more wary of us with him in the side then currently is the case. Messi and Ronaldo are too old for us too!!!

I hope it's not just what we get out of the signings - it's what you get out of the players who are currently not performing.
The two confirmed signings, plus this one, hopefully, mean Ward, Thomas, and the defence kicks up a gear due to pressure on places in the team.

Maybe it could be Aruna Kone. Fits our model.
39 years old. 33 games and 1 goal in the last 12 months.

The Return of the King, obviously.
No - not Tolkein, Andy King?
Ex-Leicester Midfielder we had on loan a few year back. Last heard he was at Bristol City, or was it Mordor?

Heard its Alan Lee alter ego. Very good at tightening the gaps in our team.
Goes by the name Alan Key.

After we were linked with him a year or so ago, in my head he's already started 6 games for us, with a further 13 appearances off the bench, scored 0 goals but got one assist in a Carabao Cup game and been loaned out to Fleetwood.

Not sure how things have progressed since but signing Knockaert was definitely part of the pitch to Lowton
