A bit like getting a 20 jail sentence delayed until you're 90...who's in charge, the EFL or Reading?

If nothing happens by 5 then presumably it's passed onto next season?

If nothing happens by 5 then presumably it's passed onto next season? Not necessarily. Today is just the deadline for points deductions for going into administration. This isnt anything to do with that. Although, you'd think they would want to impose them by today just for clarity, so everyone knows where they stand going into the final straight.

I’m thinking if it’s not in the next 100 minutes it’s not happening this season. To do it any later just makes it even more complicated.

Usually with the appeals process these things rumble on for some time and somehow the clubs get off with serving some of the points deduction next season, which I think is ridiculous. From memory Wycombe's relegation springs to mind.

Unless there are other teams with potential points deductions or going into Administration today there is no way Reading will agree to points deduction at the moment

is it up to them to agree it if EFL impose it?

How can a club “agree” a punishment? I really don’t get that!

How can a club “agree” a punishment? I really don’t get that! It's mental. It's the same rules for everyone. Break the rules, take the punishment, simple.

I suspect they have lawyers looking at the fine detail of the suspended points deduction to find a loophole in the agreement that can get them off or as others have said drag it into next season.

This is the triggering of a suspended punishment isn’t it?
Surely the terms of that, how it will be enforced etc. will be known?
I’m sure they will try to defer it, wouldn’t any club? This comes down to the EFL administering its own rules correctly.
I remember Leeds dragging their heels yrs ago, to the point it put the end of season permutations very much in doubt. That was the FL being very weak with them, so unless anything has changed, don’t expect this one to go quietly.

I bet they have taken the hit for next season tbh It'll be announced the day before the final games, when it won't make any difference.. I can't believe the EFL don't seem to comprehend how important it is to get this sorted out. Several other clubs are affected by this decision too and to just keep plodding on not knowing who is where in the league table is just nonsensical..

It’s Reading losing games and teams near the bottom picking up vital points (us at Millwall really did put a spanner in the works). I suspect Reading have agreed to take the punishment this season if they are safe or get a few wins to make it unlikely they will go down otherwise they will take it next season !
