We're all guilty of overthinking things, our mindset will change again on saturday for better or worse, and the game after that until we hopefully get mathematically safe, being football fans its all perfectly understandable but just try not to make yourself sick with worry, think back to just after those two hammerings v Burnley and Coventry, many threw in the towel (some even before that), now we have a genuinely good chance of survival. I'd not exactly thrown in the towel, but after those two defeats my heart was hopeful while my head was saying relegation was inevitable. I didn't think even Sir Colin could work the kind of miracle he has so far.

Yeah even me who's an eternal optimist started to have negative thoughts, i remember going in the pub that saturday night after Coventry and saying this might be a job too big even for Warnock, lo and behold....survival is on.

A table version of the next month to visualize where we need points. Quite a few interesting "6 pointers" in there. All to play for Updated 13/04 - all chocolate eaten, now in a food coma. Looking a lot better for town now after the easter break. With the sky shenanigan's find it strange we've such a huge break between Sunderland and Cardiff. On one hand the squad will be well rested and drilled, and you could argue Cardiff will be knackered going into it. On the other could argue it will stifle our momentum particularly if we get good results against Swa/Sun. In our hands at least, no doubt Colin the messiah will guide us to a few more points yet. Opening post updated post easter break - looks a lot better now but still could swing a great deal. Sheff U still don't have 2nd sewn up and Norwich/Cov are still with outside playoff chances. You'd hope they'd all be up for their respective games against the others and not let their foot off. Luton might decide to consolidate their playoff spot and do a "wagner" on it. Only wild card is Burnley and whether they've been on the pop a good bit since promotion, you'd expect them to win against all of them but with nothing to play for stranger things have happened.

I have just asked ChatGPT if Huddersfield will stay up this season.
Here is their answer. Brilliant!
"As an AI language model, I cannot predict the future with certainty. However, I can provide some analysis based on available data.
Huddersfield Town is currently playing in the Championship, which is the second tier of English football. The team's performance in the current season will play a significant role in determining whether they will stay up or not.
Currently, Huddersfield Town is in the lower half of the Championship table, but the season is still ongoing, and their position could change based on their performance in the remaining matches.
Factors such as the quality of the team, injuries to key players, and the strength of the opposition they will face in the coming games could all have an impact on the team's chances of staying up.
Ultimately, whether Huddersfield Town will stay up this season will depend on how well they perform in the remaining games."

No thread for The Sheffield United Match yet so just sticking this up here ! - So that’s it all done for me now and big thanks to Mia in The HTAFC ticket office for getting me rigged up in The Riverside Upper and near to the half way line so £25 for a good match hopefully and a potential monumental night for Town - £34 / night (x2) for the hotel room in Huddy and £38 in Glasgow (x1) - £19 return with Megabus to Manchester and probably about the same for the beautiful train journey from Manchester to Huddersfield !
So all in all a fantastic trip pending for old Westie, pubs pubs n’ boozers, pure quality curries, hopefully a positive result for Town - and save the best till last - some awesome banter with the finest footy fans in England - Huddersfield Town’s !!! 🍺 🥃 🥃 🍺 😊 👍

Huge point for us tonight. Hopefully we'll still be above 22nd by the time we play Cardiff. I think 47pts will be enough.

I'd be happy with 2pts from the next 2.

I do worry that all our rivals play 3 times before we next do 😬 almost certainly going to be in that bottom 3 going into the Cardiff game, but will have 2 games in hand on most. Feel like we need 4 points from the last 3 games🤞

Feel like we need 4 points from the last 3 games🤞 I think it's likely we'll be bottom 3 by the time our next game comes around. Law of averages sees Reading and QPR amassing three points from 3 games and Cardiff 2 from 2. But with Cardiff to play and a game in hand on Reading and QPR come Sunday 30th it's in our own hands. Think a point at Cardiff would lift us out of bottom 3. At start of Feb would have taken this position we find ourselves in no question.

We are probably going to need 6 points from the remaining 9
One or 2 of the teams below us will get 3/4 points before we play again

We are probably going to need 6 points from the remaining 9 One or 2 of the teams below us will get 3/4 points before we play again You'd think that one of QPR, Reading and Cardiff are going to find a win before we play Sheffield..looking at the teams...
QPR have 2 away games (Burnley and Stoke) where I expect them to lose both, and home to Norwich, tonight which I'm praying they lose too..that would keep them below us by one point on 43 points with a worse GD..come their final game.
Cardiff I think will beat Watford tonight, and Stoke ..then they go to Rotherham before playing us..by which time they could be 4 points ahead of us, and on 48 points and safe as QPR couldn't catch them..
Finally Reading, I think will get one win before the play us, and probably a draw so they'd be on 46 points by the time they play us..but virtually safe as QPR GD is much worse than theirs.
That scenario, with Town one point above QPR with 3 games to play would need just 2 draws or one win to be unreachable even if QPR won against Bristol in their last game... This all relies firstly on Norwich winning at QPR tonight..
There you go, sorted..nowt to worry about.............

I have looked at the remaining fixtures and have given all the teams a couple of wins each...being realistic that teams will now be in survival mode and get the odd result
I have given town 4 points from the remaining games and here's what I think the points tallys will be
Reading 48 Cardiff 49 Qpr 49 Rotherham 52 TOWN 48
IMO it's us or reading who go down depending on goal difference

It could possibly be goal difference that decides it
Both currently -19 but reading have scored one more goal
I have been generous to the other teams and even given Cardiff a win against us and tried to be unbiased with our remaining fixtures
My gut feeling is goal difference will decide who goes down

I’m going to whisper it, obviously, and should probably wait and see if Wagner does us no favours yet again but I have a feeling we are already safe.

Can drive yourself mad thinking of what might be.
Main thing is we still have Reading to play so it’s entirely in our hands as it stands to stay up…..something we couldn’t say a few weeks ago!!!

Cardiff will be thrilled. Play away to Rotherham on Thursday night, back early hours of Friday, then play Sunday at noon, whereas we'll have had 11 full days off before the Cardiff game they've got Stoke 3 days before that , and Watford (A) 3 days before Stoke game too...they'll be knackered... We always look knackered when we've had time off. Always look our best when they have played 3 days before.

Horrible time for all fans of the clubs involved. QPR appear to be the most fragile team of the bunch. They really need a win v Norwich tonight but they are in crisis mode. They have to be the most vulnerable team down there. Then you look at Reading who had a very good point v Burnley and their tails will be up again. Cardiff seem to be up and down a lot from one game to the next. Rotherham look solid enough and are picking up valuable points. Town have had a very good run over the past 7 games and confidence is up. So although we may well be in the bottom three by the time we play Cardiff, we can look forwards with renewed confidence and vigour for the final three matches.

Will reassess after tonight, but as it stands, just need QPR to continue imploding, it's that simple. They're averaging half a point a game since the new year. Even if they draw tonight and match our remaining three results, they'll remain below us.
Rotherham are as good as safe unless they fail to pick up another point all season. What happens to Cardiff and Reading depends heavily on their results against us.

I'm just concerned that QPR look like they are starting to put some effort in. As they showed early season they should have enough.

I can see myself going for a spin in ma motor - mobi off, CD’s on, Radio off (sometimes hourly news bulletins give footy latest scores)... It would be around lovely Oban, Lorn and the Isles district for The Cardiff game and the equally lovely back sticks of rural Islay for The Reading Match... My nerves won’t stand it all... Funnily enough, I won’t feel so bad watching it live v Sheffield United in among the good fans of Huddersfield Town - One thing’s for sure - whatever happens I’ll be having a big blast of booze to get it all outta ma system... Let’s just hope it’s a celebratory one !!! 🍾 🥂

tend to agree with Gledholt though, in that we might even already have enough points.
