Or maybe look at it like this.
Reading are in shit or bust territory, nothing less than a win will save them, so we know how they’ll set up.
We have permutations from 4 games, 2 that we’re involved in, plus the 2 games for Rotherham.
Reading are on the cliff edge, hanging on by their finger nails.
If we get the point or more on Thurs & Rotherham lose today, we’re the team that will decide the fate of 2 other sides on Monday.

We are down if Sheff U and Reading beat us 1 - 0. Reading haven't won a game since end of February...12 games.... Well here’s hoping it’s an Unlucky 13 - For them of course !!! 😉

The goal difference is a big factor, you could be right forget tactics and just go for a full throttle attack with Sheff U, if we lose 2 or 3, 0 so be it. And prey to God we beat Reading. Goal difference has zero factor. If we beat or draw against Sheff Utd we stay up. If we lose then our goal difference takes a hit. If we then lose to Reading they stay up. There is no scenario here at all where we can stay up through goal difference, not one. Correct, but it does need explaining repeatedly it would seem. About 50 times across various threads.

The goal difference is a big factor. It really isn't. It is, but it's too late as we can do fuck all about it. It we get relegated it can only be on goal difference, if we stay up it can't be done on goal difference.

I'd understood his point to be that we still need to worry about GD. E.g if we're 1-0 down in last minute Vs Blades do we go gung-ho and risk worse GD in the hope of a point. Answer = yes we do. Forget GD. Points are the only thing we need to worry about.

Town have scored 44 goals. Reading have scored 46 goals.

dont want to be pessimistic but just got a gut feeling sheff utd will beat us and will come down to reading game And they owe us one for the playoff final We only needed a point at home against Birmingham all those years ago and look what happened...trying to defend a point is no good...Reading will literally throw the kitchen sink at us and the players could bottle it if the fans get nervous...and there's always a twist on the final day We need to have a go at the blades on Thursday and fight like our lives depended on it..like Rotherham did today..and treat the game like a playoff semi final Sit back and we will concede

Sheff utd are nothing special and might bring a team off the beach to play us
Amazing as our last 3 games included two of Warnocks ex teams where those clubs still respect what he did for them
Town will beat Utd 1-0 or 2-0 providing we have the same fight as when we beat Cardiff
Last thing we want is a winner take all one off game V Reading as anything can happen especially when Andy Caroll is on the field
He seems to have a habit of popping up and scoring against town

There are 4 possible outcomes from the next two games that will see us safe and only 2 that will send us down. Trust in Neil.

I think we can do it on final day anyway if it come to it but I have a feeling that after a great away win Warnock will have them buzzing and we will get a point on Thurs making the last game irrelevant.

What would be the point of sitting back if we are losing against Sheffield? Surely throw the bloody kitchen sink at them to try for the point is a far better tactic. The goal difference is a big factor, you could be right forget tactics and just go for a full throttle attack with Sheff U, if we lose 2 or 3, 0 so be it. And prey to God we beat Reading. The goal difference won't matter, will it ? If we lose to Sheffield then we have to win or draw against Reading, any loss would send us down either on GD (regardless of how many Sheffield scored) or goals scored

Biggest game against Sheff Utd since the play-off final in 2012. Got a feeling we'll win; just hope the game v Reading isn't going to be the biggest against them since the 2017 play-off final. Strange that the last 2 games are against teams we played in our last 2 play-off finals. Hopefully both haven't still got a bee in their bonnets about the respective outcomes! I too have tried to forgot the play of final last year. Seems you’re doing a better job of it than me! Haha, yes I really had forgotten that, must be some kind of inbuilt mechanism designed to devalue Notts Forest's flukey win at all costs 😁

Huge thanks to Phil at Oban Wool & Needlecraft Centre for taking the time to discuss a design with me for a bespoke Westie - DATM - westislandterrier T- shirt !
It’s coming down with me and I’ll probably wear it on Matchday 45 v Sheffield United on Thursday evening and in the pub crawl during the day...
So for the clientele on DATM who enjoy a refreshment or three before the match - if yous see an overweight lad with a Scottish accent and a T- shirt with the above bold writing - then join me for a dram and a beer and we can put the footy world and The HTAFC world to rights ! 😊 ⚽️ 🥃 🍺 👍

The championship has been fairly poor this season and town would be up there with the best on this present form
No need to worry as Warnock will sent this town team out all guns blazing.

Warnock would have probably got us in the playoffs had he come when schofield got sacked

It is, but it's too late as we can do fuck all about it. It we get relegated it can only be on goal difference, if we stay up it can't be done on goal difference. Thanks for elaborating, some on here do not get it. Quite, some do not get it! We can lose 8-7 to Blades, and 5-4 to Reading - or equally lose both by a score of 1-0, both scenarios get us relegated. Goal difference will get us relegated if that is the outcome. To say people do not get goal difference will affect the outcome is wrong. Of course it will decide if we go down, but we're stuck with it. Nothing we can do from here results in a positive outcome regarding goal difference affecting our survival chances, so forget it. We need one point, preferably Thursday. Otherwise I believe Reading will seize their opportunity based on: • Fresher team, no game in 10 days. • Less pressure on them, they are more down than we are as it is. • Payback for 2017. • My inbuilt pessimism after 58 years of following Town!
