If there are other Championship clubs after him, I can't see that we'll be able to compete with them. I realise that's probably facetious but who knows? Players decide to play for clubs for all sorts of reasons. Maybe <big club X> would only have him as 4th choice and he'd only be getting on the bench in an injury crisis or cup games. Maybe someone offers him a coaching or mentoring role that might interest him. Wouldn't rule it out, even if on the face of it the other clubs look a more attractive option. |

Warnock is a fan apparently, then again so is every other championship manager probably! I dare say it will come down to who offers the most money, the best chance of success and the best location for him personally. We probably fail on all three counts! |

The only free agent I would be taking a serious look at is Connor Wickham.
He's not ideal but he would improve our options.

If we are looking at free agents now is the time to bring them in. A mini pre-season before the Rotherham game.
I don't think we'll bring anyone in until January though.

He always impressed me at Villa and Burnley, thought he’d have been a great signing. Was utterly dire though, moved like he was in quicksand. |

We all got a bit frantic on deadline night. Glad we didn’t just buy anyone for the sake of it now.
Reminds me of waking up on a Sunday morning, glad to be in your own bed rather than having got in a taxi with the old bruiser you were chatting to at kicking out time on Bradford Road.
We could have drunkenly put our hand up Johnson Clark-Harris’s jumper, but we decided to walk home and cuddle Danny Ward instead.

I’m hindsight it would have been mad to spend a load of money the week before the head of recruitment joins. But we’re clearly hoping to tread water on the playing side whilst the rest of the club infrastructure is put in place. Let’s hope we have a bit of luck with injuries… but it will require that.
All said and done. It’s good to see a long term plan forming, I’m just mindful that with relegation a real concern due to squad depth, there’s immediate danger of the wheels falling off before we’ve even started.

Has anyone found Maynard yet ? Unreported deadline day switch to Bognor Regis in non-league. 50% sell-on negotiated on a two year deal. Transfer fee….undisclosed. I understand it was a chicken balti pie and a black coffee though.  |
