As an exiled Cornish Terrier friend of a friend tells me Town are playing at Tavistock, Bodmin and another fixture! Warnock apparently brings his teams this way during pre season! Don’t shoot the messenger just passing on what I heard! Would be good if true so can see the mighty Blue and White without driving 800 miles! 🙃 As much as I’m sure it’s a very beautiful part of The UK - I think I might just be giving any consideration to watching Town in this part of the world a polite no thanks... (Far to Far and all that) - However if I win tonight’s Euromillions - and there’s an airport nearby - then it’d definitely be game on ! ✈️ 😊

Wee Joe Harper, if I remember rightly looked like a beer barrel, came to us with a good goal scoring reputation but failed miserably for us! Went back to Scotland and banged them in for fun. Sent back to Scotland after being caught going through Jimmy Lawson's jacket pockets in the dressing room. Allegedly. That being the case, you just know what Jimmy would’ve said to him - ‘You broke The Law-son’ ! 😬

Once we finally got Scottish TV in 1981 and consequently football with it, he was at Aberdeen - A truly great Aberdeen then being built - and not bought - by The great Alex Ferguson, but he’d have been creeping on a bit by then and I just remember him for probably the one season on TV... Fergie had some prolific young strikers coming through in Mark McGhee, Eric Black and John Hewitt and with his age he became more marginalised and probably left at that point... But aye - He was a scorer for sure - I think that he’d been at Aberdeen in the early 70’s as well as I used to have all the old seasonal annuals from Scottish Football from the late 60’s and 70’s (that I got at a car boot sale on the mainland) and which I loaned to the local boys’ club which they ‘mislaid’ and subsequently ‘lost’ ☹️ Just another good connection from Scotland to Huddersfield Town ! 😊 🏴

One of only about 5 vinyl singles I ever bought Fun fact: You can sing the words to The Chicken Song to the tune of Agadoo & vice versa & it scans perfectly both ways. (I suspect - but cannot confirm - that Agadoo was the song they based it on.)Fairly sure that's what their having a go at Its the time of year Now that Spring is in the air When those two wet gits with their girly curly hair Make another song for moronic holidays That nauseate-ate-ate In a million different ways From the shores of Spain To the coast of Southern France No matter where you hide You just can't escape this dance The lyrics were by the lads that wrote Red Dwarf and the music by Phil Pope, who I remember best from Who Dares Wins but Wiki say he's best known as Tony Angelino in OFAH

From Wiki: "Morton sold him for £35,000 to Huddersfield Town. He later returned to Morton for £15,000." That was back in 1968 and the £20k loss equates to half a million today. He only played 21 games, scoring 3. Was Leigh Bromby in charge back then too? The thieving little scrote didn't lose out anyway.

I think he signed for Baldmuff instead.

Love it. I think the last "big" side I saw us play at the Mac in a friendly was the Spanish team (Valencia? Sociedad? Damned memory ) And before anyone says we've played L***s since them, I said BIG

A few games clearly aimed at minutes in the legs, a League Two test and a game against decent European opposition, stepping up the difficulty as we go. Seems sensible.
Intrigued to see Heerenveen. Not least as a certain VLP, once of this parish, played a game or two down there. They've always had a decent pedigree, had plenty of years in Europe, and finished 8th in the Netherlands last season. I can't say I know much about their current side, but it'll be an interesting test.

I remember watching us play Udenise in that first Premier League pre-season & everyone was very entertained by the Italian striker Kevin Lasagna! I've always liked seeing Town play European clubs in pre-season, I'm sure I've seen us play teams like Lyon, Montpellier, Barcelona B. I'm still yet to a pre-season game abroad though, would love to do that one day.

My sister lives 20 miles from Liskeard, but the other half has instantly torpedoed the idea of our summer get together with them coinciding with Liskeard away. 😒

SC Heerenveen at JSS Saturday 29th July. Clash of the blue and white stripes!
Edit: apologies, for some reason I can’t see attachments when on my iPhone at home so I was unaware of the above posts about this friendly.

SC Heerenveen at JSS Saturday 29th July. Clash of the blue and white stripes! The perfect day market our 2023/24 away kit - and also to welcome our European visitors and let them play in their home kit which would be a very civic gesture by Town and we are that type of sporting club after all... Win Win all round and it’s usually around that time the away kit is launched anyway !

So far then...
Mon 10-July - Bodman Town v Huddersfield Town Wed 12-July - AFC Tavistock v Huddersfield Town Sat 15-July - Liskeared Ath v Huddersfield Town Sat 22-July - Stockport County v Huddersfield Town Sat 29-July - Huddersfield Town v SC Heerenveen
Sat 05-August - (Matchday 1) EFL Championship -
Possibly a couple of Wednesday dates still available for friendly’s (19th & 26) July but looks like the programme is pretty full now -
Nice that Neil hasn’t forgotten his retirement homeland and is taking a high profile club like Town that will bring a decent attendance to these teams’ grounds...
Enjoy Neil’s ‘retirement’ area all ye Terriers & Terrieresses’ that are embarking on the journey to cheer on HTAFC in July ! 🍺 🥃 👍

Looks like it’s our B team but decent close away game to go to.

Off down Cornwall/Devon for three days . Tue , Wed nights booked in Spoons hotel Tavistock . Still contemplating booking Bodmin jail hotel for the Monday night , but a bit pricey at £220 (although the breakfast looks tasty)
