Can’t wait to find out the justification for a third kit now We might get Shrewsbury or Wimbledon in the cup

I doubt there'll be a worse kit in our division Edit - just remembered Barnsley are not in our division! Yes we probably win that one then, Barnsley can settle for League 1's worst kit Barnsley had this kit in the late 80's, although the bottom half was white, which a solid divide, I assume this one has a fade in to the white.

I wonder if the shorts are brown? Wonder no more... F**k me that's an abomination.

I seem to be in a minority but that away kit looks really nice. I donwish we would stick to red though and have something like this as the 3rd kit.

I enjoy the ‘suspense’ of waiting for each kit ‘reveal’ and the very differing comments and opinions thereafter... With just the 3rd kit to come I’ve a gut feeling we’ve not had a white one for a while and the third one might be that with black, blue or red shorts and numbering and lettering - if desired - to match the colour of the shorts... Possibly next season they’ll go back to a red and black striped / hooped version (would diagonals, or perhaps a 3” check / diced type squares, or even a Blackburn Rovers half n’ half look ok in red and black !) But variety is definitely the spice of life in my humble opinion and Town have certainly excelled with a broad variety of away and third kits in the last decade ! 👍

The need for a third kit really is ridiculous. Just pick a colour / style that means you don’t get a clash. As for particularly liking it. No. Not for me. But then again unless you’re at junior school I’m not sure why you’re interested What colour is that going to be, that we can guarantee it won't clash with any of our league or cup opponents? Not sure. But it can’t be that difficult.

Surprised nobody has spotted the real reason for that kit.
Simple, all the players are going to have Fotheringham style haircuts and play goalie when.
Could be ‘handy’ when we’re defending corners… 😉

It’s awful, but as I always readily admit it’s not aimed at me. Basically my thoughts. Lacks any sort of class, neon shite. At least they probably wont be able to do the standard pile of crap thing that all clubs do now and have some kind of 'meaning' behind what the shirt 'represents' Anyway, like you, it isnt aimed at me! I shall continue to wear my 1920s replica thick cotton job with the seemingly immovable curry stain on the front. Obviously it is aimed at you and other messy Korma eaters with the new stain match technology UTT

I did have ma brand new shiny and very smart HTAFC home top on to collect it but it’s safety away from the strip as a millimetre splatter on it would be total sacrilege to me - Curry stains would truly ruin a footy top ☹️ me thinks - especially our lovely 2023/24 home strip !

Wish we could have had Boston's new kit by Umbro. Here is hoping our third kit is nicer.
Why do we never get a collar on our shirts? Makes it looks so much better!

As long as we play in blue and white stripes I'm not bothered about any of the other kits - I remember in 1975 when Tom Johnson or whoever decided it would be a good idea to play in an all blue shirt - the shirt was as bad as the football and just didn't look like Huddersfield Town. On a slightly different note I've always thought the teams that play in the bright kits always seem to have more players on the pitch - they just appear to stand out and as a player its much easier to get your head up and be aware of where team mates are because of the loud colour. That said, I always liked the red and black stripes - those colours are Huddersfield Town's second kit to me.

Is there any scientific research to suggest that wearing bright coloured kits is easier for players to pick out each other (insert your own scapegoat here) or officials to give decisions (for example, easier to spot offsides)? I’m sure I read somewhere that there are reasons for certain colours to be chosen and red is the most successful, whether that’s down to colour or clubs in red having more money or better players would be debatable. Obviously, a classic example was Fergie blaming Man U’s grey away kit for getting battered at Southampton.

Even Ipswich's Umbro kit looks nicer than ours with the collar. I think it just makes it look more value for money.
Also money going to a good cause.

Just a ruse to milk more money from fans, said before most third kits aren't even needed but the team still occasionally wears them to justify its existence, black and red stripes to back up the first choice kit would suffice and look great, if in the rare occasions a third kit is needed than obviously have one ready, just dont produce it in big numbers and put it on sale to milk fans. Kids just get to choose their favourite surely, if any parent feels pressured into buying all three then they're spoiling their kids IMO. I'll probably wait til its half price or less and buy one for training or lounging around the house. More kits; more choice, no harm done. Kits are a part of football culture aren't they and very important to some. I don't see any issue with 3 per season personally. They bring new everything out all the time but you shouldn't feel pressured into going out and buying them unless you want to. Same principal imo. What is annoying is the price, £50 is clearly just taking the p1ss but its the same with all clubs. £50 is cheap compared to a lot now, plenty of PL teams are charging £75-£80.

They charge that for normal fit kit or 100 for a sports fit kit, kits are rip off now unfortunately, I will buy the lime green thing if any let when they get reduced, be 1st 1 in a while, do quite like it, may change mind when see it in the flesh tho!!

Tom Johnson also did that mid sixties as well, then when Ian Greaves took over, we thankfully went back to stripes. I'm sure I've seen on here or somewhere, he was a big Rangers fan, hence the change

Is this the last year on the current deal with Umbro?
Wonder if we’ll end up with Hummel next season as they have a deal with Sac Republic

Loads of clubs in Britain have left Hummel for next season because the company that was used to supply them, over here, went bust. I wouldn't be averse to them cos I've always liked their kits.

Elite Sports Group handle the supply of Hummel gear to clubs in the UK, as well as being the distributor of Meyba and several other sports brands. Several clubs such as Oldham Athletic, Southampton and Coventry City have been forced to close their physical and online shops due to issues with Elite Sports Group this week, and it has emerged today that ESG have gone into administration. I’ve no idea who is in the right or wrong but it’s been one of a multitude of court cases involving The Gers over the last decade or so - Maybe ironic then that both they and Wimbledon went bust - (courts and all that) ! 😉
