Confirmed he's not returning. Fantastic news. I don't often respond bud, but I've seen some really interesting takes from you. Some I agree with, some i'm really confused by. "Fantastic news". It's a strange call buddy that one. Each to their own on opinions, but I'd like to respectfully counter, if thats okay? (Pun intended ) I'm not sure why anybody wouldn't Rhodes back (based on our current predicament), he's got more professional goals in his nutsack than the options we've had on the bench in recent times/this season. That itself would be an upgrade. I just have zero belief that pre Bojan signing we have any goals in us whatsoever. Could a few of those goals help us in our situation, if the time came? Absolutely. They could be the difference of anything from 3-9 points. I believe. But, please note i'm not obsessed about bringing Jordan back, but to have him as an option would have been better than any option we have currently. In a system where Warnock played 1 up top, I can see JR doesn't necessarily offer us an awful lot, as he's always been a striker who's strengths are completely suited in a front 2. But, anything inside the box I'd bet big money on him either putting one away or creating a very good goalscoring opportunity. DM I think likes to play 2 up top, but he more often on or not has shown to like playing 10 defenders camped in our own half Now, on the contrary if he isn't coming back, I can only assume thats down to a few things. (Especially with the injuries we have): - Ward (Sicknote), - Harrrett (I'd like to see him get some more experience in L1), - Hudlin (Needs run of games in L1, to see if he really can be an asset, in any capacity), - Burgzorg (out injured) 1) We have some striker/s lined up that we believe fit the bill. - Good news, if its a quality acquisition for the now! 2) He probably wasn't too excited to come back (who blames him? He's on a good run of form, feeling good and is loved there). 3) We're maybe trying to agree a deal with rest of the season loan, with permanent sell (fee included now) at end of season. I often like to be neutral and balanced to most opinions, and beliefs. But, our attitude as a collective (not singling you out, in any stretch here bud, or saying this is you by the way, just based on half the comments/threads on this board), is nothing short of appalling at times. We often provide vitriol opinions/comments, and personal attacks on players, coaches, board members. - I will use Phil, Dean, Leigh Bromby, Sorba previously, Scott High, Hudlin etc. (Name calling, abuse etc) and so much more, have a strong opinion but not push it past the boundaries. - Create scapegoats very often, I can't remember a season where we genuinely haven't. - Yes it's a fans forum, it doesn't truly mean anything to the real world, but it occasionally trickles into the stands, onto social media. Players, Players agents, Families, I am sure do basic search engine searches these days for a background, a feel so to speak of a club. I know if I was an agent of a player, I wouldn't be encouraging Town as a first option thats for sure. I am not saying we should be happy clappers, or be blind to the BS that happens, or call out laziness or bone idolness, or occasionally performances. But, there's devil in the details, without sounding like a sales 101 book. "Attitude is a little thing, that makes a big difference" - Winston Churchill The same guy also said "Success is the ability of going from failure, to failure without losing enthusiasm" Just a thought. Fantastic news simply because I don't want him back. Never wanted him back. Should never have been brought back. And most importantly, it more than likely means we're bringing in another forward.

They also had Connor Wickham breaking through at the same time & RK thought he was the better bet. Hope it's on the proviso they pick up ALL his wages. I'm guessing you meant to quote someone else.

it more than likely means we're bringing in another forward. We let him go in the summer without bringing in another forward. Just saying...

If we have to rely on bringing Hudlin off the bench on Saturday all these “great news” shouts are going to look a bit daft. I know Town’s transfer business rarely makes sense, but surely this means a striker is arriving before weekend.

only fantastic, if the cf's brought in can score goals at this level. Rhodes can still get you 5/7 goals a season, which yes isn't much but is often a winner of a game. I would rather have Rhodes than Ward at the club any day of the week, at least Rhodes can stay fit. Ward is just happy to take the wage packet for 2 years and hardly play, Rhodes has always kept himself fit. I'd rather have neither. Both old news and we should never have brought either of them back. Only on Planet Huddersfield does it make any sense not to bring back your striker who’s on fire, scoring 15 goals in 19 appearances and could put another 10-15 away for his home club Absolutely crackers, stupid decision…unless we’re bringing in an equal striker who’s also on fire…. which we won’t.

Only strengthens the chances we are bringing another forward to the club….which is great news

I think Rhodes and Burgzorg up front would have been a good pairing. That said, I saw similarities between Bojan and a younger Jordan Rhodes in his appearance so having two similar types of striker on the books may not make total sense. Hopefully Burgzorg is back sooner than later because by jove do we miss him. I'm hoping for a pacy and physical fox in the box type striker coming in.

He didn't leave that badly to be fair, still played and got a move that tripled his wages. Plus the year before single handed took the club up a league near enough. Rhodes is not what he was far from it, but he is fit for selection week in week out, Where is Ward o wait. Which player is more use to the club if we had to select one or the other from now till the end of the season? remember in choosing one of them you probs wont be able to pick more than a few times. He threatened to go on strike unless we sold him. He was fantastic in his first spell, but his departure, which was all about money and nothing about furthering his career, showed what he was all about. Money. Certain players have had abuse from Town fans over far less than what Rhodes did. I saw Ward do far more last season to help keep us up than Rhodes did. to be fair mate, Ward got a lot mroe starts last year for whatever reason.
Rhodes - went for the money, he isn't the first and wont be the last. To be fair however it came about, the club got a very good deal from it.
My point is that if you were going to have one or the other, you would pick JR as at least he would be fit for selection more often than not. Ward on the other hand .
As the club is clearly trying to move on from both, i hope that Bojan and if another is coming in, can help that move on process.
Should either of Ward or Rhodes have being brought back? for me no, as both for the wages paid, am sure we could have found better for it.

Either that or maybe town have asked them to pay the wages in full (if they weren’t already).

I hope this decision means they have another very good option or two incoming otherwise it's looking very silly. I also hope it's not a decision that's been made in order to save face and avoid admission that the original decision to let him go to Blackpool was a daft one.

Last weekend Wigan challenged Man U far more than our negative display against Citeh. Their passing accuracy and potential goal threat was way higher than ours. In other words, using merely one of numerous examples available, an L1 team can and did perform much better than we did, and therefore your excuse of a striker being on fire only because he’s in L1 is nonsensical twaddle, to put it mildly and politely. Clearly you’re taking the management party line on this matter. Seems it’s a three line whip, and you’re bending over and enjoying it…?

What if this presumed striker is also coming from League 1 without the scoring record (this season or previously) of Rhodes but some possible “potential”? I don't do hypotheticals. Rhodes hasn't scored double figures in this division since 2016. That's EIGHT years ago, why is this season going to be any different? His days at this level were over years ago.

Man City are head and shoulders above pretty much all of the teams in the world, with the best players in the world managed by the best manager in the world. If a side takes the game to them, invariably they're handed a thrashing, so you can see why we defended deep and played on the counter. Despite the result we actually didn't play badly, looked to be positive when we could, and were also a little unlucky at times. If we'd have have been playing Man Utd - a team in decline, with only a couple of world class players and a manager not getting a song out of them - I'm pretty sure we'd have set up differently and similar to Wigan last night. To summarise, Jordan Rhodes has found his level, we need and have hopefully found better😊

What if one of them suffered a serious injury just before the window closed? He certainly wouldn't be my first choice as a back up - unless of course the option was chosing from a line up of him, Ward, Harratt and Hudlin which as it stands is the option. Ward might have scored more last season but got a lot more game time under Warnock for reasons which only Warnock can really explain. Rhodes second stint at the club may have been underwhelming (and predictably so many would argue) but he has always been fully committed when asked to play. He did of course show full commitment right up until his departure as well (not a Pritchard or Diakhaby scenario at all) so I find his apparent threat to strike hard to believe. Hoyle is meant to have told him after the Old Trafford defeat that he would be allowed to go (for the right price) if he stayed for a further season - did his agent use the threat as a means of keeping Hoyle to his word? Going to just relegated Blackburn was the equivalent of a player signing for Leicester, Southampton or Leeds in the last window. Any of them that did could argue that it was for a realistic chance of of promotion and subsequently playing in the PL and not just for the money. The fact that Blackburn didn't do well doesn't negate that argument same as it wouldn't for players that signed for WBA, Watford or Norwich etc in the season after they got relegated. Was anyone from the PL offering him an opportunity to go straight to that level anyway (and offering us the transfer fee we got)? As one of the club's all time top 10 goal scorers it's not surprising other players have had more stick from the crowd.

He'd be a good option off the bench, but a very expensive one* - isn't he one of our top earners?
Unless we're being absolutely daft and letting Blackpool away with only contributing a small %, natch.
*edit to add, I'm thinking more about the FFP tightrope
