Man City are head and shoulders above pretty much all of the teams in the world, with the best players in the world managed by the best manager in the world. If a side takes the game to them, invariably they're handed a thrashing, so you can see why we defended deep and played on the counter. Despite the result we actually didn't play badly, looked to be positive when we could, and were also a little unlucky at times. If we'd have have been playing Man Utd - a team in decline, with only a couple of world class players and a manager not getting a song out of them - I'm pretty sure we'd have set up differently and similar to Wigan last night. To summarise, Jordan Rhodes has found his level, we need and have hopefully found better😊 Yes, we found a striker who played in Finland, the equivalent of our L2. I’m happy he joined us, but those against Rhodes, who’s a league above him, have by default invalidated their argument for Bojan over Rhodes. In my opinion we need both to guarantee survival. I think we just need to move on from Rhodes - an excellent player for us, scored umpteen goals in two spells and we sold him for millions which helped keep us up at this level. Hes now in a team creating chances aplenty and is well suited there - good luck to him.....a great lad and pro and is clearly happy there. We now have targets better suited to what we have now and are planning for going forward and hopefully they will deliver better than in recent years - the striker from Finland has also scored goals in europe and from the initial viewings last weekend looks promising - as with all signings though time will tell.

I’ll tell you who we need back.
Big Iwan, that’s who.
Does he still own a pair of boots?

I’m looking forward to how far you can stretch dog food puns. I don’t think it’ll have the same legs as fish puns, but I’m keen to see how this develops with all my chums on here…

Sorry for shouting but as I hinted at previously:- HE DIDN'T WANT TO COME BACK. HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN HAPPY TO BE FORCED TO COME BACK. (wigster you called it) Why would any Town fan want him back? That’s fair enough and understandable. He’s been messed about by Fotheringham and Warnock already. Clearly he’s got a new leash of life in Blackpool. Tbf, this actually makes sense if you read it as Sean Connery

Rhodes isn't the answer, should've been replaced in summer.
Happy for him to see out his contract at Blackpool which in turn looks like we're not far from replacing him - exicting times!

Surely we would have been better recalling him and making him available for transfer. With the form he is in I'm sure a L1 club would be willing to pay a nominal fee for him. That way we get a small fee and don't have to pay any of his wages. I'm sure Blackpool would have been willing. Just don't see what we achieve by just letting him run down his contract and leaving for free in the summer, unless it's a good will gesture?

You realise he can only play for Town or Blackpool this season, having already appeared for both. We can sell him to someone else but he couldn't play for them til next season.

Not sure about that, the page you've linked was created 9th January and was first mentioned on Page 28 of the thread. Suggests lots more to come on this topic (but hopefully no more sh8*te puns).

Absolutely brainless not bringing him back and not having any strikers in the matchday squad.

Absolutely brainless not bringing him back and not having any strikers in the matchday squad. I have a suspicion that our transfer management team have ballsed up here. There has been nothing from HTAFC about Jordan Rhodes. The news that he was staying at Blackpool came from Blackpool FC website, and they stated that "the period for HTAFC to recall Rhodes has passed" I think HTAFC staff were oblivious to this deadline, and Blackpool sensibly didn't point out this clause. www.blackpoolfc.co.uk/news/2024/january/09/critchley-burton-preview/I would like to hear HTAFC position on this, particularly in light of today's squad consisting of zero strikers.

Not recalling Rhodes, could bite us in the arse come end of the season. Time will tell. Fingers crossed it's not the case, because it will be a hard, long and lonely road to get out from League 1/2.
Never seen a professional club without a recognized fully fit, good enough for the level they play at, for this long in all my life.

There was a great cross in the first half aimed at Sorba. Sorba ran to the back post in the hope the defender would miss it and it'd drop to him. Rhodes would have attacked the ball and likely scored. Beyond stupid not to have recalled him with only Bojan around this week.

Could have got us three points on Saturday... Stating the bleeding obvious. Even Harratt could have helped, but i doubt we'll ever see him again in a Town shirt either.

Could have got us three points on Saturday... But he's past it, hasn't scored many in the champ for years, found his level etc etc etc according to some of the geniuses on here (and Cartwright) who fail to grasp the most important fact which is he's head and shoulders better than anyone else we have...and of course he is fit to play, even for the whole 90 minutes. The new regime seem to be very good at making mistakes and then doubling down on that mistake. Someone will be along soon to say he didn't want to come back, well no shit, why would he, but the thing is he's our player and we're paying his wages and we're likely to get relegated because we don't have a fit striker on the books and even when we do they are L2 quality at best except for Ward. The only way this decision isn't a monumental fook up is if Blackpool are paying ALL of his wages and we have a new striker (in addition to Radulovic) nailed on to start ready for Blackburn away.

He would likely have scored the header that Rudoni didn't. However, pointless mentioning him, HE IS NO LONGER A TOWN PLAYER and never will be again.
Blackpool own his contract to its end.

Done more in 15 minutes for Blackpool tonight than Ward has done all season.
