When did Jordan Rhodes last score 10-15 in the Championship? 🤔 When did Harrat or Hudlin ever score 10-15 in the football league? I hope this decision means they have another very good option or two incoming otherwise it's looking very silly. I also hope it's not a decision that's been made in order to save face and avoid admission that the original decision to let him go to Blackpool was a daft one. That was Warnock's decision, wasn't it? Can't see why the club would care TBH.

He threatened to go on strike unless we sold him. He was fantastic in his first spell, but his departure, which was all about money and nothing about furthering his career, showed what he was all about. Money. Certain players have had abuse from Town fans over far less than what Rhodes did. I saw Ward do far more last season to help keep us up than Rhodes did. Where's it been confirmed that he's not returning? Not on the official website (as I post). If we do have an option to recall then ruling it out now would appear premature - what if we can't bring in the 'exciting' second striker? What if one of them suffered a serious injury just before the window closed? He certainly wouldn't be my first choice as a back up - unless of course the option was chosing from a line up of him, Ward, Harratt and Hudlin which as it stands is the option. Ward might have scored more last season but got a lot more game time under Warnock for reasons which only Warnock can really explain. Rhodes second stint at the club may have been underwhelming (and predictably so many would argue) but he has always been fully committed when asked to play. He did of course show full commitment right up until his departure as well (not a Pritchard or Diakhaby scenario at all) so I find his apparent threat to strike hard to believe. Hoyle is meant to have told him after the Old Trafford defeat that he would be allowed to go (for the right price) if he stayed for a further season - did his agent use the threat as a means of keeping Hoyle to his word? Going to just relegated Blackburn was the equivalent of a player signing for Leicester, Southampton or Leeds in the last window. Any of them that did could argue that it was for a realistic chance of of promotion and subsequently playing in the PL and not just for the money. The fact that Blackburn didn't do well doesn't negate that argument same as it wouldn't for players that signed for WBA, Watford or Norwich etc in the season after they got relegated. Was anyone from the PL offering him an opportunity to go straight to that level anyway (and offering us the transfer fee we got)? As one of the club's all time top 10 goal scorers it's not surprising other players have had more stick from the crowd. Blackpool twitter. Their manager said it today that they have JR for remainder of the season.

He didn't leave that badly to be fair, still played and got a move that tripled his wages. Plus the year before single handed took the club up a league near enough. Rhodes is not what he was far from it, but he is fit for selection week in week out, Where is Ward o wait. Which player is more use to the club if we had to select one or the other from now till the end of the season? remember in choosing one of them you probs wont be able to pick more than a few times. He threatened to go on strike unless we sold him.
I thought all the threats came from his dad, including a threat to punch one of the club officials?
After he was told that he wasn't going anywhere during the January transfer window, instead of downing tools, Jordan knuckled-down and scored a load more goals. That's how I remember it anyway, which of course could be totally wrong!

His Dad was throwing his weight around in the offices, apparently. As I said, Jordan Rhodes was brilliant in his first spell. But the way he left, where he basically forced a move and made it clear he no longer wanted to play for us, means I have no time whatsoever for him. That was my opinion in 2012 and it remains my opinion. If Jordan Rhodes had never played for Huddersfield Town, and we signed him with the record he's had at this level over the last few years, our fans would not be impressed. It was simply an easy signing for Phil Hodgkinson, who used it as an attempt to get the fans on board. And he succeeded.

Irrelevant. Based on actual performances to date, bar one blip, we’d currently struggle to beat any team in the top half of L1. Last weekend Wigan challenged Man U far more than our negative display against Citeh. Their passing accuracy and potential goal threat was way higher than ours. In other words, using merely one of numerous examples available, an L1 team can and did perform much better than we did, and therefore your excuse of a striker being on fire only because he’s in L1 is nonsensical twaddle, to put it mildly and politely. Clearly you’re taking the management party line on this matter. Seems it’s a three line whip, and you’re bending over and enjoying it…? Man City are head and shoulders above pretty much all of the teams in the world, with the best players in the world managed by the best manager in the world. If a side takes the game to them, invariably they're handed a thrashing, so you can see why we defended deep and played on the counter. Despite the result we actually didn't play badly, looked to be positive when we could, and were also a little unlucky at times. If we'd have have been playing Man Utd - a team in decline, with only a couple of world class players and a manager not getting a song out of them - I'm pretty sure we'd have set up differently and similar to Wigan last night. To summarise, Jordan Rhodes has found his level, we need and have hopefully found better😊 Yes, we found a striker who played in Finland, the equivalent of our L2. I’m happy he joined us, but those against Rhodes, who’s a league above him, have by default invalidated their argument for Bojan over Rhodes. In my opinion we need both to guarantee survival.

Teemu Pukki didn't do too bad did he comi g from Finland? Even in the PL he scored as many as you could muster for a team always going down. whereas Rhodes?

The way I heard it Rhodes NEVER threatened to go on strike - a silly rumour.
If any poster can name me matches where he didn't put in 100% I'll be amazed.
Talking of commitment to the club, how's Danny Ward doing in recent years ?!

Should bring him back and tell Blackpool to buy him if they want him that bad he's in last 6 month won't leave for free then They can't afford to buy him. Can't afford to pay leccy bill for undersoil heating.

If he comes back then the likelihood he will score 2/3 goals before the end of the season. Hope the new striker scores more than that!

Sorry for shouting but as I hinted at previously:-
HE DIDN'T WANT TO COME BACK. HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN HAPPY TO BE FORCED TO COME BACK.
(wigster you called it)
Why would any Town fan want him back?

If I recall correctly our first game following promotion was Cardiff away. Rhodes apparently was ruled out of the game with a ‘ hamstring’ injury. It was widely rumoured at the time that he had refused to play. He had recovered for the following game .

He said he’d never play for the club, or fans, ever again (if I remember correctly). Dean Hoyle said that so it must be true! 🤦🏻♂️😂

I just wanted evidence of him not trying in any match, or having an injury record one hundredth as bad as, say, Danny Ward ! I'm still waiting.

Assuming he wants another contract with someone then he's much more likely to get it if he remains top scorer in L1 than having the occasional appearance and maybe the odd goal back at Town. On that basis he's bound to prefer staying at Blackpool. If the alternative is to be Ward, Harratt or Hudlin, which I hope it won't be by the end of the window then I'd have wanted him back - not that it's an option any longer.

Suspect all parties are happy with this arrangement, almost certainly the best option for Jordan. He’ll likely go on to be League 1’s top goal scorer this season and good luck to him. Just hasn’t worked out 2nd time for him here and I guess the injury he picked up in pre-season after he resigned which didn’t see him available to play until the December by which time that halfwit Fotheringham was in charge can’t have helped.

That’s fair enough and understandable. He’s been messed about by Fotheringham and Warnock already. Clearly he’s got a new leash of life in Blackpool.

Would Rhodes have been in some way useful before the end of the season, potentially. I doubt having him here or not would be much of a decider if we stay up or not.
Lets hope now we appear to be making a new approach to signings, we can leave Rhodes and signing past players, in the past.

In those circumstances, I would expect that either Blackpool are paying all his wages or Jordan, himself, is picking up the difference between what Blackpool can afford and his salary under his contract with us.
