As the clubs only senior striker we have to get behind Danny this season. He has scored some crucial goals for us over the years and works his arse off. It's not his fault that the club have put him in this position.
Let's get behind him and stop the scapegoating, we know he will work his arse off and hopefully he will find his goal scoring form that he showed under corberan.
Come on Danny lad

Giving dogs abuse to the players we’re expecting to perform for us is pathetic and doesn’t help anyone. The least we can do is get behind them, otherwise what’s the point in being a supporter?

Danny Ward, who scored 5 goals last season, is the club's "only senior striker".
Long season ahead of us...

Every player out on the pitch will always be cheered by me. I’ve always maintained that this group of players at least leave everything on the pitch, which is less than can be said for players of the past.

Always given his all. And saved us last season. Season before he got us 3rd as the main man. Unfortunately football fan bases are low IQ. So I can see ward getting shit for something that isn't his fault. Nagle is buggered. He has lost a lot of the fan base now.

Nothing wrong with Wardy when you have a chance rich team (see the Corberan playoff season). Problem is we don't have that any more and the reality is any striker would struggle in this set up.

Danny’s been a very decent player for us over 2 spells and I haven’t seen anyone giving him any grief (unless it’s all over on Twitter) but he won’t get the goals we need to keep us in the Championship this season. That’s not being disrespectful, it’s just fact.

In his first spell at Town he played on the wing and I have never really thought of him as a proper striker.

I don't see any merit in making Danny the scapegoat for the Nagle era. He's enough credit to be given a bit more respect and consideration.
He hasn't been great this season, or much of last, but some of that (by no means all) is down to the service and support he has had.
NW is wise enough to know when to take him out of the spotlight and give someone else a go. I do think that will be sooner than later if things continue but let's give the lad a break and not make him the reason for our issues.

I questioned the sanity at the start. We are now relying on him somehow having a rich vein of scoring or one of the kids coming good. It’s not ideal for sure.

From this day forth this day will be known as Danny Ward day, the first day of his soon to be historic, crazy feat of 5 goals in 3 months.
Arise sir Daniel, step forward to your destiny and shine your goalscoring exploits on us mere mortals and rain hellfire and brimstone down on the enemies goal.
Happy sir Daniel Ward day, mortals.
Honour him!!!

He got cheered off when subbed last match. Those people aren’t going to change their ways. I think genuinely most of any cheering was the fact that we made a substitution. We should have changed it up immediately after going 3 down as the game was over and people probably wanted to see Burgzorg to give us something to cheer. I personally wouldn’t cheer a player going off but I couldn’t believe the delay in making changes

The problem is he's on a hiding to nothing. We're playing a long ball game to him, so he has to win the first header, if he manages to win the header he then has to win his own flick-on (because nobody makes the run past him) against another CB that is sweeping up behind. For the other 80% of the time he's chasing down their defenders, hoping one of them messes up and gifts him the ball. It's a thankless task and I'm not sure how many other strikers would be inclined to do the job he's doing for the team. Although, having seen Kian in spells he looks like he would be prepared to do that job too.

He’s not natural to this position anyway and he has to do everything on his own. That’s the point really, we’ve needed someone who is natural to the position for 5 years. I have sympathy with DW but we are now worryingly short of options up front.

Lord Ward. Come on Warnock, get Burgzorg up there playing off him and we're good to go.

Not his fault he's on his own, or that he doesn't get much service. However if he gets injured for 3 months, we have even more serious issues, as we shouldn't be relying on kids with not much experience to get us a load of goals and get us out of the shit

Neither a target man nor a natural fox in the box. In the autumn of his career he would be on the bench in practically every other Championship squad. Recruitment have let the club down in their efforts to get what we needed this window. If someone comes in during Jan will we be too far adrift for it to make a difference?
