Seen Danny this afternoon sinking a pint at the Xmas lights switch on at Skelmanthorpe this afternoon. Hopefully available soon with injuries to Harrat and Hudlin Hope he didn’t strain anything operating the switch. 😀

Wonder how many matches though IF he returns to the team before he is injured again .My guess 3. Didn't manage one as it happens!

Sir Daniel Ward for f**ks sake he is possibly the poorest striker I’ve seen at town since Tracy. Town defending he stands five yards offside. Never wins a header. Town make a fast break and his run never creates space for players to move into but blocks space off. Open goal in six yard box no goalkeeper guarantees 90% of time his attempt will go over bar. Sad thing for me is it’s been blatantly obvious for years we need a centre forward as Rhodes is not the answer either

Sums up the summer transfer debacle.

That absolutely takes the piss. If true, then I'd agree. If I'm ill from work I'll even walk the dogs later so that none of my colleagues see me out of the house when they're driving to work. Personally I wouldn't play him tomorrow either, except with Burgzorg and JK only fit to play part of the game, and 2xKH injured he might have to.

I don't think colleagues appreciate somebody with something infectious coming to sit in an office breathing the same air for 8 hours... the dog still needs a shite.

Dog shite... Bringing the thread nicely back on topic then. No seriously I've never been Wards biggest fan but became Warnocks chosen one so you just have to go with it I guess. Always assumed he was off when we got Rhodes back. Having them both here permanently was never going to up the goal tally much. Let's be honest he's always looked like what he is, a converted winger.

Danny was physical fit (not injured) to play Sat against Southampton and would have been on the bench, just happend he got ill Friday and was told to satay away in order to not pass anything on to the rest of the squad, with numbers low we needed to do this.
I fully expect DW to be in the squad tomorrow evening, he played a good part of the behind closed doors game with the trees.
There is nothing in the DW played for NW and nobody else he is a top proffesional and has been great in training, just unfortunalty has been injured and then ill, the timing made people suggest other things but it really not got any truth in it. Once back and playing DW will give a big boost to the squad and team still our best CF currently.

Told to satay away? Was it a dodgy Chinese that did for him then?

What are the views on him staying away from the squad, but then going out 24 hours later in the public eye on the pints? As a fan, I find this shocking, and he should be punished.

He was seen at Skelmanthorpe light switch on Sunday having a (Singular) drink. It was a family event with lots of children involved in the parade. It wasn’t like he was out with the lads. If indeed he just had a 24hr case of d&v or similar illness no reason why he shouldn’t be out 48hrs later with his family enjoying a Christmas event

Nothing to see here at all.

Possibly not the wisest decision he's ever made, considering he missed a match the previous day due to illness. But then again, if he's only had a quick pint whilst at a Xmas event with his family, then it's a bit of a non story really. Some players enjoy a pint or 2 now and again, some don't. I think the days of players drinking loads on a night out are pretty much over. But nothing wrong in having the odd pint or 2 now and again. Players are only human at the end of the day. They've all got lives and families outside of football and need to enjoy their family time.

Read all about it…
Professional footballer in ‘drinking a pint at a village lights switch on event’ shocker.
I can see that in the Examiner tomorrow…
Now, if Danny Ward had been seen in the Grove at 11AM on Saturday downing a couple of Guinness, before appearing on the bench against Soton, then you might have a disciplinary matter to get wound up about.
Bobby Campbell and many others will be laughing their heads off looking down at the modern game, and modern day supporters getting all outraged.

Nobody knows the facts yet people think they can use this as yet another stick to beat the club and player with. It's becoming so toxic now and poisonous

Nobody knows the facts yet people think they can use this as yet another stick to beat the club and player with. It's becoming so toxic now and poisonous No agenda from me at all. Just takes the absolute piss to be honest. We are in dire straits, the guy is ill, but then well enough tk attend a firework display and have a pint. Don't get me wrong, I love a drink, but if I am that ill that I can't do my job, then the last thing I want for a day or 2 after is a pint. When you are in the spotlight, you need to be careful with what you do, comes with the career path they take. I have zero issue in players going out etc. Win on a Saturday go get leathered and enjoy it. But when you are sick at 2pm on a Saturday (which must be the case as he is on the video of players turning up at the ground) and unable to do you're job, which people have paid to watch, and then be seen out and about having a pint the day after, it's a joke. Think about it though, nobody actually knows what was wrong with him. The squad is so delicate right now that perhaps DM didn't want to risk the potential spread of any illness. He has also been away for months so keeping him away for one more game wasn't going to make much difference. Also for all we know he may have only been considered for the bench and minutes in the second half so if that is the case what's the point in risking having him around the squad at all? He may have thought he was fine but the club thought better to be safe so of that's the case he is quite within his rights to go for a pint with his family. Again, nobody knows the facts so making assumptions doesn't make sense.

Just with the current situation, it's a bit of a piss take. Win on a Saturday, go out and get leathered for all I care. I love a drink, but if I was ill and unable to fulfil my duties, I wouldn't be heading out into the public eye. They choose that career path, and unfortunately, things get seen. If the guy was playing every week, banging goals in, I would feel differently. But he is robbing a wage, only plays when he wants. Amazing how under NW he was rarely injured. If injured at all? Under CC, DS, and now DM, always an injury.
